Health: Adam4Adam And Users Raise $8000 For Charity

World AIDS Day may be over, but that doesn’t mean that we all get to be less vigilant about getting tested or spreading awareness about the disease. That’s why every year we raise funds for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF), and this year you guys did not disappoint.

This year, all the December 1st donations made on Adam4Adam went to the ETAF. You guys raised exactly $4056.50, and Adam4Adam is matching that donation for a total of $8113. It’s a more than $3000 increase from last year’s total, which was $5000. Thank you to everyone for your generosity!

But we’re not just putting our money where our mouth is. We’re also introducing new resources to the Adam4Adam site and Radar app that are dedicated to users’ health.

The new features are:

• A Health section, with a “Where to Get Tested” link that leads to the CDC website. Users can enter their postal code and find nearby HIV/STD testing facilities.

• A Health Resources page, with information about HIV, STDs and PrEP, and links to resources for mental health and addiction recovery.

• A Condom Finder, which matches users with nearby organizations that provide condoms free of charge.

Getting tested is important because HIV isn’t the only infection that can be detected by testing. You can also get tested for other infections like viral hepatitis, gonorrhea, and syphilis.

Getting tested is also the only way to know your HIV status. Early detection also gives you a better chance to start treatment, prolong your life, and stop yourself from getting others infected as well. The same goes for the early detection of infections like hepatitis B, gonorrhea, and syphilis.

Once again, thank you for raising so much money this year! Hopefully, we’ll do even better in 2019!
