News: Far-right Candidate Wins Brazil’s Presidential Election
Jair Bolsonaro, a far-right candidate who is pro-gun, pro-torture, and who has frequently launched inflammatory attacks against gay people, has been elected president of Brazil.
The 63-year-old former paratrooper was declared the winner after 99.9 percent of the votes were counted. Final results showed that Bolsonaro got 55.1 percent of the votes, while his rival, Fernando Haddad, secured 44.8 percent.
Bolsonaro’s win was lauded by figures of the European far-right. Italy’s far-right interior minister, Matteo Salvini, and French far-right leader Marine Le Pen, have sent congratulations and messages of encouragement.
Brazil’s LGBTQ community is potentially in trouble under the Bolsonaro regime, as the politician has previously blocked an anti-homophobia law. He has also previously said that he would his son die in an accident than show up “with some bloke with a moustache.”
Even beyond his homphobia, Bolsonaro has also made several inflammatory statements against women and black people. In 2014, he said this to politician Maria do Rosário: “I wouldn’t rape you because you don’t deserve it.” In April of last year, Bolsonaro said this of black Brazilians: “They don’t do anything. I don’t think they’re even good for procreating anymore.”
It’s no surprise that Bolsonaro has been dubbed “Trump of the tropics.”

People are breaking away from the slavery of communism/socialism all over the world now! We used to want the government to dictate us but now we have seen the light. Don’t worry, if you’re a democrat, they will let you pay more in taxes even a the republican wins, just ask to pay more. I like paying lower taxes myself.

weird or strange thing is , some of my gay Brazilian friends who vacation in FL regularly and their friends are all supporting him 100%, and they all are NOT ” white Brazilians” ..I just don’t get it. but again , I am not in their shoes nor in their country.

What don’t you get??? People are tired of politicans taking advantage of them and giving nothing back. Brazil’s left was so corrupt they should all be in jail. The same in Europe and here in America. We can’t continue to support the left’s corruption and control. Gays think if they vote left they will get equal rights. The left just leaves you alone to fend for yourselves. They give you gay marriage and then take your money and support. Do you really think these people care who marries who? They take your money and your vote and give you freedoms they don’t care about. Get your minds out of the bedrooms and support what is best for your country, your wallet, and the freedoms that will really allow you to do what you want in the bedrooms. A politican says they support gay rights and we make them a god and follow all their programs which lets them free to do whatever else will further their cause. Wake up being gay does not make you a one issue citizen.
Brazilians, like US citizens, looked at the needs of their country and decided he had more to offer for the country overall. There’s nothing specifically anti-gay about the election, although “the Community” in it’s usual thrust to “keep the hate alive” will spin the results in that direction.

There is a saying to the effect, “when a person shows you who they are, believe them.” I don’t care if a person on the right is promising lower taxes or more money in your pocket, he/she is not for you( the gay/black/brown, etc.). People have this “not in my backyard mentality”, to the point that as long as it doesn’t harm or inconvenience them, they are okay. Any person that speaks derogatory comments against a groups such as black or gays for example is not someone I’m going to support. Hitler spoke out against Jews and look what happened. Not only did Jews get slaughtered so did countless number of gays and other groups that no one seems to mention. There are others such as Mussolini and Nicolae Ceausescu. If you give a hate-filled bigot an inch, he will take a mile. People should do one important thing, read a history book! There is nothing new going on here in our world society, that hasn’t happened in reference to hate and controlling people. The out come is the same, defeat of the oppressor and the associates. If you want to cling your hopes on hate to benefit your pocket book today, you will always loose your future tomorrow. That isn’t opinion, that is just basic history.
