How far is too far?
By now everybody’s seen Kathy Griffin’s graphic photo shoot with photographer Tyler Shields. If you are only hearing about this issue for the first time, Griffin released a photo of her holding a fake bloody decapitated head that resembled Donald Trump. Take a look at the controversial photo below.

Instead of finding it funny, the photo stunt sparked outrage and mass indignation online. In addition, Griffin started receiving death threats and she is now also being investigated by the United States Secret Service. On top of these, Griffin has lost several jobs if not all: her entire summer tour had been cancelled, she was fired from her “New Year’s Eve Live” hosting duties with CNN, and Squatty Potty discontinued their ad with her.
In response, Trump tweeted:
Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!

Since then, Kathy Griffin has apologized several times. She reiterated that “the video was a parody, meant as a response to Trump’s remark last summer that former Fox News Channel journalist Megyn Kelly had ‘blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of wherever,'” New York Post reports. “It was a parody of Trump’s own sexist remarks taken to an extreme, absurdist visual.” During her press conference, Griffin and her lawyers said the act was “a comedic expression and political satire” not meant to hurt, harm, or threaten anybody.
Griffin also said that she would not have experienced this kind of backlash if she were a guy which brings back to memory Ted Nugent and his rants on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Back in 2007, Nugent said onstage while holding two machine guns, “Obama, he’s a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary, you might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless bitch.” Years later, in 2012, Nugent said, “If Barack Obama becomes the next president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” Adding, “We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their [the Obama administration’s] heads off in November.” Watch the video below.
On the other hand Trump called Nugent’s rants as “unfortunate figure of speech.”

With that being said, her and the photographer should have used a different form of art to express blood coming out of every orifice; Even with the explanation, I don’t see the response that Trump also has blood coming out of every orifice, so much as Trump’s head is just bloody because it was chopped off. I think she should have stuck with her wicked tongue as her main weapon; it is far more effective.

Art is about invoking emotions of the people that experience it. I feel this image did that VERY well, whether you agree Trump or not.
Do I feel trump should complain that it hurt his kids? He list that right when he went around insulting others. When he started to slander his opposition during the election, without a Care about what would happen to their kids. If he was concerned about how his actions, and how people talked about him, he never should have entered politics to get into the highest office in the land.
On the reverse, do I think she went too far? Yes, I do. But then, this entire election cycle had been about going too far.

Irregardless of your political affiliation, Donald Trump is the president of the United States, like it or not for the next 4 years. I voted for Hillary, but that ship has sailed. Kathy Griffin will eventually bounce back and recover from all the controversy and may benefit from all this negative publicity down the road. Joan Rivers was once quoted for saying “any publicity is good publicity”, it’s when your forgotten, that your career is over.
