Health : Grow your mo’s this Movember 2016

Grow a mo, save a bro. Stop men dying too young are some of the slogans of the US/ Global Movember, a movement that raises awareness and funds for better health for men.

What Is Movember?

Annually, during the month of November, men are invited to grow their mo’s or moustaches and not shave them for a full 30 days. The event too is more than just a display of facial hair; it’s about actually raising money for charity.

According to the Movember Foundation website, the campaign initially started because “Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends face a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. We can’t afford to stay silent.”

3 Movember Charity / Causes

The Movember event aims to bring awareness to 3 main issues most males deal with in terms of men’s health:

  • Prostate cancer
  • Testicular cancer, and
  • Men’s mental health and suicide prevention

“Too many men face cancer silently, when they don’t have to.” – US.Movember.com

The Movember foundation is on a constant lookout for the most innovative research that promote men’s health, and helps fund them to both have a wide local and global impact.

Because of the current progress being made by the foundation and its supporters, the average number of men who die at a premature age is expected to decrease by 25 percent by year 2030.

You can help stop men from dying too young by joining the movement now.

There Are 3 Ways to Participate

Here is what you can do to help promote men’s health this November, Movember 2016:

“Grow your mo” – For 30 days straight, don’t shave your mo. (Don’t forget to signup.) As of writing, 241,253 men have already joined the movement. Showcase your mustache and help raise awareness for men’s health.

“Take the move challenge” – You can also take the challenge and get involved in physically active endeavors that help raise funds for men’s health.

“Host an event” – You can also organize a fun Movember event in your locality and start raising money for charity. To see what #Movember events are happening near you, check out the Events tab on the US Movember Foundation website.

And for the Mo brothers and sisters who wish to donate, more information can be found at: Get Involved, Donate.

Spread the word – Movember Rules

Note that for the ‘stache growers, there are certain rules or guidelines you may consider.

First of the Movember rules include signing up then shaving all your facial hair before Movember officially starts (recommended). Then grow it and groom it for the entire length of November.

Remember that you are enduring the itch for a good cause. Come December 1, you can shave off your mo’s. But of course, before that happens, please help spread the word.

Share the cause on your social media using the hashtag #Movember. Also do follow @Movember on Twitter and Instagram. Who knows, you may just be featured on #MoustacheMonday. It doesn’t hurt to take a selfie.

I agree about the pubes, there’s way way too many guys shaving their pubes…..I mean, you kinda expect it with twinks, but even they should stop doing it…..but when older guys shave their pubes, especially 40’s, 50’s, 60’s etc., it’s beyond insane…..don’t those guys ever look at their body in the mirror when they’re naked?…..Can’t they see it makes them look like little school girls?…..It’s disgusting. Seriously, if I were to go home with a guy and pull down his pants and find that his pubes are shaved off, I would promptly zip him back up and leave….that’s how disgusting it is. If I was turned on by something that looks like that I would be straight….I’m a gay man and I want to be with a man….not a school girl.

Yeah but not everyone like big hairy crotches too. Some guys love shaved cocks/balls. You’re allowed to your opinion but saying it’s gross is like calling someone idiot for liking the color blue. Tastes are different from an individual to another.

Absolutely right, Tchristopher! I love a guy’s pubes and if he is shaved, I want to know before I hookup. Shaved balls are not bad at all, but to see everything gone is a big turn-off for me.

This event raises tens of thousands of dollars at he company I work for. It’s great to see men’s issues addressed beyond what the behemoth, the American Cancer Society, hauls out of the economy for just cancer.

I read the article and get the point. I’m still not supporting something that makes men uglier, or a fashion trend that’s removed half the attractive population from the earth. There’s no cause good enough to justify that.

          • Jay

Yeah, for him being no beard/no moustache is a far greater cause than men’s health Lol. He wouldn’t sacrifice for the cause and even judge the people doing it SMH

Yes they are. But yeah when the male population devolves into exponentially increasing ugliness, I’ll have an opinion. And that’s that beards are gross, those with them look horrible 99% of the time and I’ll refuse to give anything to any cause that encourages this madness.

And I think they are entitled too, to their right to self-expression right?

We are not telling you to do it too, just stop hate, stop the judgment.
