News: Mike Pence Is The First VP To Address Anti-Gay Summit
Donald Trump’s current administration certainly isn’t endearing itself to the LGBTQ community, especially with the latest stunt pulled by Vice President Mike Pence. As a speaker at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, Pence has become the first sitting vice president to speak at this anti-LGBT event.
The Family Research Council has been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and the annual Values Voter Summit has been around since 2006. According to the SPLC, the Summit is known for trying “to make the case that the LGBT community is a threat to American society.” Trump has already spoken there during his campaign, and was also the first sitting president to do so.
In his speech, Pence appealed to Evangelical voters, drumming up support for Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections by painting Democrats as a country that has become significantly further left than ever before.
According to Life News, Pence said that the Democratic Party “wants to raise your taxes. Today’s Democratic Party wants open borders and to abolish ICE. Today’s Democratic Party thinks Obamacare didn’t go far enough, and they’re now running actual socialists for higher office. Today’s Democratic Party wants abortion on demand, and they want you to pay for it.”
Pence’s anti-gay views are pretty well-known. Both Pence and Trump have ran on a Republican platform that defines marriage as between one man and one woman,” and Trump’s transition team was headed by “traditional marriage” defender Ken Blackwell. Just like Pence, Blackwell believes in conversion therapy, and is also a member of anti-LGBTQ group Family Research Council.
Because of his anti-gay views, Pence has also been the target of a number of protests actions. Quite memorably, a queer dance party was organized in the streets outside Mike Pence’s house in Washington, DC.

The lumping together of trans people with gay is causing us nothing but trouble, and many or most of them are not gay. It was a huge mistake to “include” them. We are in real danger of losing our rights because of them. They push the natural boundaries too far for people to accept or even tolerate. I didn’t vote for Trump or Hillary as both were such flawed candidates. While not an original thought, Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller) summed it up well. The problem with voting for the lesser of two evils is you still end up with evil.
Mike Pence is cool. I respect their values. Why give anyone the benefit of a doubt? Well ‘gay’ america sure does. Keep it up and the saner people will just keep growing more disgusted with you.
Really, you’re going to tout the Souther Poverty Law Center? Everybody is a racist or hater to those shmucks. Their only reason for existence is to stir the pot and make money off the diviseveness promoted by the victim mentality. You know, just like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. When are you people going to realize that no matter who you are somebody isn’t going to like you. That is an inevitable part of what freedom means. You know what was really shocked me that I have NEVER seen done before on TV, during trumps press meeting; they actually cut him off in mid-sentence! They said, “we are now going to resume our 6 o’clock local news program, as this press conference has lasted; going on an hr., 3mins.” And with that, while he was ‘still’ babbling-on, they switched to the local news!
This was the local, not world news; here, in south Florida, is a “red-state,” I sure, that speaks volumes.
I wish the LGBT community would wake up and realize President Trump is the FIRST Republican President to OPENLY support the gay community! Get a grip you idiots!
Please provide some substance to your statement. Every action I’ve seen so far is directly opposite to your statement. What policies has he enacted to support the LBGT community? Or has it only been lip service? The majority of his supporters certainly don’t like you.

I just keep thinking, if this guy Kavanagh is elected, you know our rights, weather you’re black-gay or a woman; are gone, which means you can and most likely will lose your jobs by way of discrimination. You have no rights, how will you afford healthcare, especially, if you have HIV, its a death sentence isn’t it? Just like when I was really young, watching my peers and best friends; gay infected men, drop like flies! Women, who may btw, really need an abortion, will be forbidden by law. God only knows what ‘we’ of color may face, like my parents born/survived in the ole’ “Jim Crow,” laws of their day; we could very well face, even worse then we presently do today.
