Hot or Not: Daniel Henney

I first noticed Daniel Henney in his role as Dr. Henry Kim in the hugely popular South Korean romantic comedy-drama television series titled  My Name is Kim Sam-Soon / My Lovely Sam Soon (2005, Kim Yoon-cheol). I thought he was such a stunner; stylish, too, it didn’t matter if he was wearing a muscle shirt or a suit, he looked good in it. But also, he had this smile that gives off an easy going demeanor.

Henney’s first Hollywood movie was in 2009 wherein he played the part of Agent Zero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Gavin Hood). He had since then gone on to work on other movies such as Shanghai Calling (2012, Daniel Hsia) and Big Hero 6 (2014, Don Hall, Chris Williams) where he was Tadashi Hamada, Hiro’s older brother. I loved watching him as Special Agent Matt Simmons in the recently concluded series Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (2016), a character which Henney continued to play in Criminal Minds (2005, Jeff Davis).

While Henney has a successful career, it didn’t mean he never suffered from rejections, it only meant that he had learned when to “stick it out instead of packing up.” In the same interview, he advised aspiring actors to “never just take no for an answer.”

Henney is into coffee and basketball and he is also a dog lover. He has an adorable dog, a 14-year-old golden retriever named Mango. As of July this year, Henney has teamed up with Humane Society International (HSI) and launched a campaign to end the dog meat trade.

He is also part of the “Never Expire” campaign which promotes the message, “that everyone should be proud of what they’ve achieved regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. We should never feel limited by artificial labels, timelines, and expiry dates placed on us by society.”
