News : The Mystery of the Disappearing Pages From WhiteHouse.gov

Shortly after Donald Trump had been sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, netizens noted the “disappearance” of several webpages from WhiteHouse.gov’s “issues” section, the White House LGBT page being one of them. Not long after, the Department of Labor’s LGBT Workplace Rights Report disappeared from its website as well.

Apart from its LGBT rights pages, the pages for civil rights, climate change, and health care appeared to be missing from White House’s official site also. It turned out however, that these pages had only been archived and can be accessed here.

But perhaps much of the furor is caused by the implication of the move, the changes on policies that will take place, and what it will mean not only to the LGBT community but to the country in general.

For example, in place of the old climate change page was the new one titled “An America First Energy Plan” that talks about Trump’s commitment to “eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan and the Waters of the U.S. rule.” It also discusses Trump Administration’s commitment to “energy policies that lower costs for hardworking Americans” and “maximizing the use of American resources, freeing us from dependence on foreign oil.” Other priority energy programs mentioned were clean coal technology and coal industry, domestic energy production, clean air and clean water, conservation of natural habitats, and preserving natural reserves and resources.

Then there was the “Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community” page. “Our country needs more law enforcement, more community engagement, and more effective policing,” it said. “The dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America is wrong. The Trump Administration will end it.”

The page claims there is a 50 percent rise in homicide in Washington, DC in 2015, but there’s also a 17 percent decrease as of last year. Click and read Washington DC’s Metropolitan Police Department full report here. And while there is an increase in crime rates in some areas of crime as a whole (3.1 percent for violent crimes in 2015 compared to 2014) but there is also a drop in others according to FBI’s latest report which you can read here for 2016 and here for 2015.

There was however, a significant 53 percent and 6.8 percent increase in multiple biases and single-bias incidents in 2015 respectively. Read the reports here and here for the history of hate crime over the years.

The rise of hate crime continued its climb days after Trump was elected and in New York alone, the spike on bias crimes was alarming it merited the creation of a special unit. And just a month after he won NY police reported the increase to be 115 percent. Read other related reports here and here.

In the Forbes article wherein it cited a study made by the Southern Poverty Law Center—a well-known U.S. civil rights group—there was a total of 867 bias-related incidents 280 of which were caused by anti-immigrants, 187 was caused by anti-black, 95 by anti-LGBT, and 23 by anti-Trump to name a few. The hate crimes had reportedly slowed down but is said to be still higher than pre-election rates.

Hate crimes by the way, takes FBI’s highest priority in terms of Civil Rights program. Read more about it here and here.

But what does the disappearance of the LGBT page under the Trump Administration really mean? Do they intend to put a new replacement in the coming days or is it really gone altogether? If the former is true then there will be a collective sigh of relief but critics are quick to point out (to their annoyance) that while there is an entire page dedicated to Melania Trump‘s modeling successes there were very few pages dedicated to issues that matter. A stark contrast to Obama’s WhiteHouse.gov page on his first day in office, they observed.

Whether or not an LGBT page will surface remains to be seen but if not it could only mean that LGBT rights are not this administration’s priority. If it is not the priority then in effect, it will impede the advancement of LGBT rights in a place where there is no federal statute addressing housing, public accommodations, or employment discrimination yet.

Um, this is an Obama page. He is gone, out, just a civilian now, so of course it has been archived. There’s a new sheriff in town now!

    • Skippy

right on brother, its new administration, they have every right to change things up and set their own agenda. the lgbtqxyzw political movement had their day in the sun with a political advocate like obama, that just nice, just because your politics is not celebrated on the white house website, doest not make you a victim or the other person a hater, people need to grow up. besides, i dont need a piece of paper from the government to love someone, thats nonsense.

  2. Wmijackhammer

So freakin what? Are your lives so empty that this is what you have to worry about? It’s a change in leadership and with that change will come revisions in the White House policy pages. No big deal, it comes with every administration. You know it’s funny that the snowflakes that post articles here don’t bother mentioning that Trump is the first president in our history to take office openly supporting gay marriage, but you drone on and on about what the flip flipper Obama has done for us?

    • Rich

Are you living under a rock? He is not for gay marriage and wants to repeal the law. Only hint worse than an uninformed Trump supporter is a gay one.

      • Skippy

if he’s under a rock, you must be under a mountain, a mountain of ignorance and hate for anyone with a different political opinion

      From far left-leaning CBS News:

Republican President-elect Donald Trump said he’s “fine” with same-sex marriage as the law of the land, calling the issue “settled” by the Supreme Court.

The comments — in Trump’s first television interview since winning the presidency — sharply contrast with his party’s orthodoxy, his running mate’s longtime position and comments he made during the Republican primaries. “It’s law,” he said in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday. “It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean, it’s done.”

He mentioned support for LGBT citizens during his inauguration speech, where he also mentioned he wants to keep our country safe, so radicals who would rather behead gay men won’t be getting visas so quickly. I’m OK with that!

    • JC

The LGBT pages had a lot more to do with us than just the marriage issue. For now, by deleting or hiding them, he has digitally made us invisible on the White House site. Back in the closet.

As most Republicans in power prefer.

  3. Carmelo

Of course the pages will be replaced!
It’s pretty standard for governments across the United States to change and update their websites when a new elected official comes into office. In my home town, nyc.gov removed at least 50% of the pages at 12:01 the day de Blasio took office, new pages with his priorities came up later on. If you still want to see the old White House policies, they’ve migrated over to the National Archives, as planned.

Voters in 30 states, in 2,623 counties (out of the 3,112 counties in the US) chose Trump, mostly because he has different ideas about the economy, jobs and rebuilding the sorry infrastructure which has deteriorated. Supporters agree that smaller government will collect less taxes, pass fewer regulations and rules which hurt everyone (Obama published 572 pages of regulations in one day, costing taxpayers $10 Billion to comply) and he’s promised there will be no ‘reduction’ in any rights and policies affecting the LGBT community. Marriage is now enshrined in the law of the land thanks to the Supreme Court. Gays and lesbians earn more money and pay more taxes in general, this should delight President Trump, who wants to give us all a big tax cut.

It is scary that cities like Chicago and DC have spikes in crime, but they are totally and completely ruled by solid Democrat city governments, Trump strongly supports law enforcement so hopefully they’ll work something out. The far-left SPLC isn’t the authority here, people who live in cities with high crime and murder rates want more protection, more enforcement, and are more worried about murders than the elite who complain about cops but live in safe, gated communities. Let’s hope the federal and state governments work together to preserve all of our rights and make sure we are safe, everywhere.

  4. Jerry

There are far more important things for President Trump to focus on other than our LGBT rights. We now have the right to marry, hate crimes are in place, what else do we need? We have everything that everyone else has!! Talk about – get an inch want a mile!! What needs to be the focus of OUR president is radical Islamic terrorism foreign and domestic, don’t you remember what happened in Orlando? 49 people killed from our own community in the name of isis, not capitalized intentionally, and you worry about our rights!! He’s not going to change gay marriage, which I believe should have been decided state by state and not 9 people sitting on a bench!! Gay marriage was already in 37 states even before Obama got involved!! He was never for gay rights, only the support and the votes!! He’s on video – twice – saying he was against it! Once, as a senator here in Illinois and as candidate in 2008. He said his Christian beliefs would NOT let him support gay marriage!! Tell me, how often do you see Christian beliefs change? Romney was catching him in the polls and that’s the only reason he came out in favor of gay marriage!! Hillary was also opposed to gay marriage – which is also on video – remember DOMA, her and her husband were staunch supporters of this bill!! It’s the bill on – one man and one woman is marriage!! Over 2/3 of the states were allowing gay marriage! Only 13 did not and one of those was the most liberal state of all California!! It got voted down, because it was giving more rights to gays than it was other ethnic groups in this country!! We don’t need more rights just equal rights!! We’ve got that!! We need to get over our hatred of this man!! We’re wrong about him!! He will NOT take us back but forward and he will protect us with his Law & Order promise!! I’m giving him the chance he deserves as POTUS!! Back to my point about the 37 states – with those states already allowing gay marriage we were well on our way to getting gay marriage nationally!! The government would have been forced to change the law – BY THE PEOPLE – which is how the constitution is supposed to work!! The people are supposed to tell the government what to do – not the other way around!! Why do you think we had Kim Davis, a democrat, in Kentucky refusing to give marriage licenses to gay couples. Look at all the publicity she got and I believe that’s all she wanted – her 15 minutes of fame. Nor would there have been millions of taxpayer dollars spent by a couple of states trying to fight the SCOTUS decision!! The people should have decided by vote on gay marriage and only that alone – not giving us more rights than others as CA tried to do!! 60% of America supports gay marriage. We would have had the votes needed!! And when you force people to do things, you get idiots like Kim Davis and others rebelling against it!! Lets just get over this, give Trump a chance. It’s not going to be as bad as you think it’s going to be!! He didn’t lie to us as Obama and Hillary did to get our support!!

    • JC

In the majority of states you can still be denied a job and many other things non-gays take for granted. Our challenges remain…there is more to life than being able to get married. But on that topic, the Religious Right has been gearing up for court cases they hope will eventually make it to the SCOTUS to curtail or reverse the 2015 SCOTUS victory. Trump will nominate a replacement for Scalia, and flipping one more pro-LGBT Justice in the next four years gives them a clear shot at doing real harm to our community.

On Trump being pro-gay. He said once he thought marriage was “settled law.” True until it isn’t, and his choices for SCOTUS could easily mean it isn’t. He acknowledged during the campaign that his nominees (presented as a list of candidates from which he will choose) could reverse marriage equality. I don’t know if Trump has a history of LGBT bias, but his cabinet nominees thusfar do. His VP has a legislative track record in the House and as Indiana governor of despising us.

    • Rich

Have you not watched anything about him? He’s been lying since day one! He just had someone lie on live tv Friday. He had Conway talking about “alternative truths” aka LIES on live tv. Biggest, anti-gay con ever and you support him???? No one wants MORE rights than someone else, gay people want the SAME rights as everyone else. Seriously, get some help. Mark my words as this progresses you will see what a massive mistake Trump is. Start paying attention to current events and details because you’re clearly detached from reality and what is really going on.

    • Timothy

Very well said! It’s as if “gay activists” are never satisfied! No one’s taking away your right to Marry, (although all of the “Married” gay couples I know have nontraditional “open Marriages”, anyway!), let’s get on with ending these violent terror attacks on our soil, shall we?! Trump is the one who will do that, Barack Hussein Obama certainly did nothing to prevent the Orlando shooting!!

      • Dave

there was like a few terrorist attack in years and you blame Obama for it? Like if a President can stop that … Oh yeah sure, Trump will stop them….lolz. It’s not Alice in Wonderland, the dude has never worked in Politics. I’m somewhat glad I live in Canada with all the stuff I see on your side of the border. What about everything else Obama did, funny that as a US citizen you don’t see what the entire world saw. Oh and why mentioning HUSSEIN when he doesn’t even use that name? Oh I see, you’re one of those funny dude who think that a skin color or a last name has an impact on the job to get done. Of course a rich Billionaire with white skin and blonde hair will be able to run your country. Best of luck to you!

        • David Wintergreen

We’re glad you are in Canada too, Dave. Stop interjecting your misguided far left views into our politics and leave them for your precious Justin. Oh, and by the way, he used “Hussein” in 2009 and 2013 when he was sworn in for his first and second terms.

          • Dave

Yeah we love Justin, at least he respects women, ethnicities and gays. Not some old impolite, mysoginist dude. He gets things done, the proper way, and in a 2017 way.

          • David Wintergreen

You say all of these hateful things as a mouthpiece drone of the left. Yet you ignore that Hillary, at age 69, collapsed at the 911 memorial, had multiple, unexplained coughing fits, and walked with an unsteady gait, often needing assistance. You ignore that her husband was accused not only of molestation, but also rape by multiple, credible woman. You ignore that her primary opponent was a 75 year old Marxist-Socialist. Trump is already making America great again. Too bad Canada will be a collateral beneficiary.

  5. AMAZED

Where the people responding have the brains hidden? I hope they wake up soon! Nothing this egotistic person has promised is he going to be able to deliver! Are we going to hire street sweepers to create jobs? Maybe that is what his buddy Putin is telling him. And where is the debt going to go? Let’s see the responses in a month!

    • Carmelo

The choice was between Mr. Trump and a lady who openly sold influence to the US Government while secretary of state. A lady who’s computer safeguards were so weak that important national security was compromised. Plus, her lackeys were foolish enough to get hacked so the entire country could see how corrupt the system was, how Bernie Sanders got screwed, etc. etc.

Trump has been producing results for over 30 years in NY, what he says he’ll do gets done. He’s President now, let’s see.

  6. MW

We don’t need nor deserve special “rights” (that word is so misused). The Bill of Rights applies to everyone and are the only true rights we have.

Let’s all take a collective deep breath and just wait and see. I for one, having voted for President Trump, am happy with the early progress I see so far. The new president has a lot of damage to fix. The last 8 years where a complete disaster for our nation.

    • JAY

Yep, SOOOOOO much damage he has to undo.
starting in a hole before he can get back to square one and then work at making progress.

and Yes all the early action is exciting.

  7. Mitch

    Get the fuck over it.
    Trump won. Clinton lost.
If your candidate lost , work harder next time.
We can marry… we can do whatever we want. Your life ain’t gonna change.
Again, get the fuck over it… get on with your life. You can’t live on defense 24/7. Damn.

  8. LOWELL MILES

WAKE UP!! WE WON,YOU LOST, !
PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS EVERY RIGHT TO CHANGE HIS PAGES.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU FEAR MONGERS..??? GROW UP!!
STOP WITH THE SCARE TACTICS,START REPORTING FACTS!!

  9. JR

This article recites the same old false rhetoric spewed out by the biased mainstream media and leaves out much of the ignored facts about Trump. Not only does he have gays in office, he has them in leadership positions in many of his casinos, has allowed a trans woman to be part of Miss America, is quoted on congratulating Elton John on his gay marriage, and much more. Mainstream media pries on the minds of the political uninformed, which unfortunately includes much of the gay community. What they probably don’t know is what the media failed to tell them about Hillary, who as a political move changed her stance on gay marraige in 2013! Not only this, her campaign manager colluded with the top MSM reporters on how to glorify Hillary and ignore all the corruption that took place while she was Sec of State. One being taking donations from Saudi Arabia, one of the most anti-gay countries in the world. So unless you can state why you voted for Hillary, name one accomplishment in all those years of experience, or name one thing on her reform plan that resonated with you, you have nothing intelligent to bring to the conversation.

    • JAY

      Great Post,
Thank God Killary did not win. MSM thinks we are sheep only good to be indoctrinated. All the MSM and business as usual politicians were terrified of the outsider coming in to shake up things. Refreshing to see people waking up.
Will be fun to see 4 years from now when people from special interests groups realize wait, its been 3.5-4 years and Trump didn’t try and screw us. He’s making things better.

  10. John

These posts are just as scary as Trump being president! I can’t believe that any if you believe that he will do anything for anyone that isn’t a billionaire. He is appointing a bevy of individuals that are hostile to our community as well as women, hispanjcs, muslims… need I go on? It’s time for the American citizens to wake up and take back OUR government. If anyone thinks that everything that has been gained cannot be taken away, you are not dealing with reality. Lies, bigotry, misogyny, hate, sexism, racism…. this is not who we are as a country. WE THE PEOPLE must speak up and tell the world that we are better than this. Educate yourself on what is going on. Learn, get inspired and resist.

  11. Jake

Just another attemp by the liberals,a4a and Dave to make shit up to make Trump and those that supported him look like the bad guys.

  12. Douglas

I had to stop reading before I got to the end. It seemed to be a little biased. Talking about crime in general going down, while crimes against gays go up. I don’t think so. When I turn on the news, there seems to be a lot of stories about far left loons protesting and rioting, while I hear nothing about crimes against gays. And with most of the media being liberal, why would they not report these stories? We all need to just chill out. He is not Hitler, and the life of the average american does not change very much based on who is in the White House.

  13. headsupguy

Some 80 years ago, a young man captured the imagination of the public as he began making speeches about how his country was being crowded and smothered by foreigners. He railed about the unfairness or trade agreements and promised that if he were elected, he would correct these injustices. He criticized people who didn’t look like him, didn’t believe like him and were “weak and flabby.” He promised to do everything in his power to make his country great again, and make it the most powerful nation in the world.

Naturally, he gained increasing support from his fellow patriots, including gays and lesbians, as well as a large number of Jews. Everyone wanted law and order, and they lent their full support to this young man who persuaded them that he could bring power and glory to their country. This man’s followers lauded him and his promises to bring them comfort and prosperity. He promised that those who stood in his way would pay. And indeed, he rose to supreme power, riding on a wave of support from the gullible and ignorant masses he had enthralled.

Once this man got where he wanted to be, things began to change. Suddenly, anyone who disagreed with him wasn’t just a naysayer, they were an enemy. To their horror, gays and Jews who had supported him were stripped of their citizenship and transported to concentration camps or enslaved as unpaid laborers. Ultimately, his egotistical lust for power was responsible for the death of more than 48 million civilians and military troops, the largest loss of life in human history.

And you’re telling us not to worry and give him a chance?

You tell us he has bigger things to worry about than petty LGBT rights? Right. Of course! So it’s perfectly acceptable that the first news conference of his administration was a rant of verifiable lies about the number of attendees at his inauguration ceremony. That’s certainly a matter of national importance.

No, it’s not going to be as bad as we imagine. It’s going to be far worse.

    • JAY

      “Headsup”guy?

      Look up “Godwin’s Law.”
“As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.”

If you listened to his Inaugural address, he said “to ALL Americans…….”
He didn’t say: White Americans, or Straight americans, or Male Americans, Religious Americans, he said ALL Americans.

A handful of days in and people want to crucify him and call him Hitler without giving him a chance, how about doing your analysis one year from now and making an informed decision. Either way you are stuck with him for at least the next 4 years…. (hopefully 8)

  14. Hburguy

All I can say is that a gay Republican is an oxymoron…..Anyone who trusts Tweety Bird with their civil rights needs a mental checkup like he does. He is in bed literally with guys like Pence and most Repugs who want to eliminate all gay rights including marriage. How can you be so dubbed and stupid. This man/child only cares about himself and his money….He will screw you if convenient for him.

  15. robert sablan

Thank you for bringing the absence of the LGBT web to light. As the shadow of this administration seeks to darken our lives WE MUST PROTEST & never go back into the “closets” from which many of US have freed ourselves . . . the pain, the sacrifices of just being who we are can never be forgotten & yet here we are again.

Please let us not be afraid or complacent in the long days to come. They intend to make us disappear and to make us ashamed again.

  16. Hunter0500

The Trump Administration is well aware that it was well supported by votes from gays, family members of gays, friends of gays, etc. When will the Community understand that the concept of being gay has now normalized to where it is not a pet issue of one Party?

    • Timothy

I love this comment! I totally agree, being gay is no-big-deal now. For that these so-called “activists” should be grateful, instead they spread fear and Liberal rhetoric! Trump is EVERYONE’S President!

  17. Matt

And so the bitching about Trump continues. Why live perpetually triggered? Gay people aren’t going to be sent to an American Auschwitz. People on the Alt-Left need to calm down, be less histrionic, and become 1000% less reactionary. How should LGBTQ people respond? Ask Soros for money to do violent protests for peace a tolerance?

  18. Febscooby

Well I love in NC where the Republican governors and his band of racist elitists tried to draw redistricting lines so republicans would be assured of alway winning in those districts. He has only shown me how sensitive to things that are not important after its said and done. If that many did not attend the inauguration it’s done move on. The man spewed hate out of his mouth for quite a few nationalities and now you dumb asses say give him a chance yes that is what we should do..”out the abundance of the heart the mouth speakers”. If you think a person who is a man like you and I can keep us safe from any group whose members or followers are willing to die for their cause and what they believe in is living in a fool’s paradise and putting their trust in the wrong person..

  19. Jay

    @COLE
    @WMIJACKHAMMER
    @CARMELO
    @JERRY

Excellent Points!! Glad to see support for your new president.
So much of the anti-Trump hate from Liberals, Women and LGBT is being incited by the media, like what has this guy come out and said that is anti. He was asked point blank about gay marriage and said:
“It’s law,” he said in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday. “It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean, it’s done.”

Its ridiculous to think this one man had the power to divide a nation during a singular election cycle. But very possibly 8 years of the prior administrations poor choices have made people frustrated and divided.

    • Hburguy

You are dead wrong. The law can be challenged and overturned in the courts and all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary and it will be overturned if Trump nominates ultra-conservative judges and the Repug congress rubber stamps them as they say they will do. The Wash Post had an article a couple months ago that detailed exactly how this can be done. The Repugs have been piece by piece tearing away Roe v Wade and may succeed with it also …..all they need are a majority of right wing appointees…..which is only a heartbeat away in terms of the Supreme Court.

  20. Sparz

-Attack Obama for being the first President to EVER help you.
-Hail Donald for setting you back.

Gotta love the gay “community,” lol. Don’t bitch when he removes your precious gay marriage.

  21. Joe

Oh my god these comments! Dave what is happening?!! I think this awesome sleazy hookup site is being trolled by paid crazy right wing trump supporters! This is insane. How can a gay man support Trump? Self hating gays??

Trump is a repugnant, dangerous conman and is trying to fill his cabinet with the most disgusting homophobes, who would be happy to take our rights away.

Do I think we’re going to be sent to concentration camps? No.

Do I think they will try to take away marriage equality, protection from discrimination in jobs, housing, healthcare and for LGBT youth. Yes!!! They will try.

    Get worried! Get mobilized!

  22. Tommy

WOW! I had no idea there were SO many ignorant, gay Trump supporters out there! I’ll bet money that all of the ridiculously naive comments in support of Trump that I just read, must be coming from men under the age of 30 that don’t have a clue as to what struggle older generations went through to sucure the “rights” you are so accustomed to. They can be taken away much easier than they were won. Do a little reading about gay history before you open up your ignorant, entitled mouths. Whiney, entitled, arrogant, little bitches!

  23. Timothy

I’m so proud that so many in the gay community feel safe to come out of the “closet” they were forced into by the Liberal Anti-Trump agenda! We are proud that we voted for Trump! We see past the rhetoric and nonsense and see the big picture! Trump will make America great again for ALL AMERICANS!

  24. Open Minded

This is definitely fuel for the comedy shows…the theme of the skit grows from a recent study showing men continue to think with their dicks.

  25. Ed

It is October 2017 and Trump is showing that the gay and lgtm community’s need to keep vigilant as he keeps up the lies and I read that someone couldn’t believe there might be interment camps the USA rounded up Japanese Americans in interment camps during WW2 and let’s not forget that the government tried to exterminate native Americans by giving them blankets that where handled by people who had I believe smallpox and that did kill quite a few but somehow not all died and what makes you believe that our government would not do such things again if they had enough to gain and thought that they could get away with it
