Equality: Queer Dance Party at Mike Pence’s Street

Even the day of president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration draws near, it doesn’t seem like the protests against his vice-president Mike Pence are going to be dying down soon. In anything, they’re becoming much more creative.

Previously, Mike Pence’s neighbors in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington D.C. took to displaying rainbow Pride flags on their porches and lawns to protest the vice-president elect’s many anti-LGBTQ stances, such as his belief in controversial conversion therapy.

Now, LGBTQ advocates are going a much more musical direction as an event called WERK for Peace and Disrupt J20 resulted in a dance party that had protesters partying to hits by Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Whitney Houston.

Twitter, of course, was awash with video of the event.

While the vice-president elect did not come out (pun intended) to meet the protesters during the particular action, the group has more in store for him. This weekend will seem them hosting a “qockblockade brigade”, which they describe as “a queer anti-Inauguration party.”

What do you guys think about this new creative protest against Mike Pence? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!

It’s childish, obnoxious harassment that will ultimately set “the cause” back. The LGBTQA community is it’s own worst enemy.

  2. Randy

So getting out in the street dressed and acting like a fool demonstrates your equality ??
If you are equal to normal people you do not have to do anything to demonstrate equality, just be.

  3. Dessau

This is about dumb as it gets people and all for what? Because you are unhappy that he won and Hillary didn’t…. so childish. We sucked it up on 2008 and didn’t bounce all over the place like a bunch of whiney bitches no we went to work the next day. Pathetic!

  4. jagoff

Always protesting. Nothing gonna happen. Stop being pussies and cry babies. They in for the next four years. Get over it, grow up and move on. Stop being useless bleeding cunts. And stop adding letters to LGBT. Now theres a Q. Whats next, F for faggots? Getting ridiculous

I find it to be unproductive. Protesting MP is not going to change anything. If it were me and my neighborhood. I would just think of the protesters as immature ignorant trash and would dislike them all the more. The TRUMP administration is not going to take any rights away. So it’s a big waste of time. All this protesting is and just shows what sore losers many are. Many didn’t like Obama. However they manned up and accepted his victory. It’s called respect. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. The part many fellow gays don’t get is. We have all the rights we are ever going to have. You can’t make anyone accept you. And btw so many gays descrimate too…especially towards fellow gays that aren’t hot, young, muscular, successful etc. How sad and hypocrital.

    • LEO

You make an amazing point Alex. The gay community is so disrespectful towards one another. If your ” AN AVERAGE JOE”, especially on social media i.e. Adam4Adam, men don’t have the respect, nor decency to reply, when contacted. We are grown men a simple, I’m not interested is appropriate. And move on.

There is so very much to say that my mind is flooded with so many thoughts that I struggle with keeping it short enough to hold the attention span of the feeble minded.
Due to Trump’s lack of tact, I have to admit that I was struggling with my vote! Then I watched the Vice-Presidential Debate! After watching maybe 10 seconds of the now VICE-PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE, my struggle was over! What an incredible man…a Christian man with Courage and Conviction!
Do the participants of this Queer Dance (which is putting it mildly) really think their actions are going to alter VP Pence’s opinions? Like he’s going to look out his windows and suddenly think, “Hmmm..How could I have been so stupid to not see how classy and cultured, well bred and influential this group is? How will they ever forgive me?” HA!
I’m an openly gay man, and I just cringe with disdain at the footage I’ve seen. I’m ashamed that such common trash, acting like it’s Folsom Street Fair, is essentially representing the gay masses to not only Washington but to the world.
IF IN DOUBT TAKE THE CLASSY ROUTE BECAUSE TRASH CANNOT COMPETE WITH CLASS – EVER!

    • JC

A Christian man with courage and conviction, you say? His conviction is going to open the Pandora’s Box of conversion therapy again if he has his way. Great for gay youth just coming out — just what they meant by “Make America Great Again,” right?

    • dcmusbear

or, as the great parliamentarian Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

    • LEO

      AMEN Robert.
Mike Pence and I are approximately the same age, and I also admire his CHRISTIANITY , CONVICTION, and COURAGE to voice his views on same sex marriage.
Let’s NOT FORGET Obama, Hillary and thousands of electected officials at the Federal, State, and Local governments across our “USA”, had the same conviction, OPPOSED TO same sex marriage, due to the Judeo- Christian religious beliefs, bestowed onto the USA by our country’s founders.
Most of these politicians didn’t have “BALLS”, to introduce a bill and vote on this controversy issue, and I commend Mike Pence, on his conviction of the issue, in his home state of Indiana.

It was the SUPREME COURT that had the BALLS TO MAKE SAME SEX MARRIAGE, law of the land, not any of the spineless politicians. The lawmakers flip-flopped once the Supreme Court docketed the Same Sex Marriage case.

Vice President Pence has our country in his best interest. The first priority is to protect ALL the people in this country. He has a proven record of working working across the aisle, and is a man of character..A dignified statesman, whom God willing will be our next president, succeceding President Donald J. Trump whom was born and raised in my hometown of Jamaica Estates, NY.
      GOD BLESS,
      PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
      VICE -PRESIDENT MIKE PENCE
      The Supreme Court Justices
      The USA Senators
      The USA Congress.

May you all finally UNITE, come together and DO whats BEST for ” WE THE PEOPLE”.
Remember y’all work for ” WE THE PEOPLE”
Not the Republican or Democratic Party’s.
Y’all are working for the American Citizens,
WE ARE WATCHING, and will hold you accountable.

God Bless the United States of America.

      • Derrick

Question for you: do you admire Trump’s BFF Vladimir Putin who has demonized gays and further criminalized their behavior as a means of diverting attention from his corruption, murder, and destruction of the Russian economy? Your paean to Mike Pence is beyond depressing. He and his ilk want to impose a theocracy: they are convinced that we are evil and condemned to hell. You’d be well advised to stop embracing the propaganda and to become better informed. Btw, you should be aware of the HIV epidemic he allowed to tear through Indiana as governor due to his moral opposition to engaging in preventive strategies. And, that was extensively reported in credible papers of national record like the New York Times and the Washington Post, not conspiracy oriented internet distortion.

        • LEO

YOU have to be kidding Derrick.
I didn’t say I agree with Pences opinion, I admired his conviction to voice his opinion. Unlike others whom change their opinions, to score points with voters. The HIV eprdemic is on the rise throughout the country, due to folks not using condoms, Prep without condoms, and the drug epidemic in the country, mostly heroin. It saddens me that HIV is on the rise, year after year, since so much has been done educating the youth of the country.
The NYT and Washington Post, have a couple of reputable journalists, but both organizations are full of crap, same BS talking points. On the other hand Investors Business Daily is is the most credible news source, but we all have our preferences.

  7. Zack

Keep dancing! At the end of the day, Mr. Pence will still be the VP. And you’re just ensuring a second term for PE Donald J Trump.

  8. Louis

I have to just shake my head at this.. just because you are gay doesn’t mean you are a tasteless animal. Show respect for the man and office . It’s sad to know this generation is what our future holds .

  9. Wmijackhammer

It’s their right but what a bunch of embarrassing queens. How is anyone going to take these people seriously? It would be nice if some gay people could act like mature adults when representing the rest of us.

    • Toby

Such an intelligent comment… NOT! If you’re a Hill Billy and/or 0bama supporter, you can’t criticize anyone about corruption without being a hypocrite. I can’t imagine anyone being more corrupt than Hill Billy and 0bama.

      • JC

Obama? Corrupt? His has been the most drama-free, honest, high-road administration in modern history. Absolutely no scandals, personal or political!

You need to expand your choice of news purveyors beyond Faux News and their ilk.

      • Derrick

        a. Bill Clinton was a protean figure and as cynical as hell. And, a “Republican” president who was often tacky but was adept at government. B. Barack Obama was a moderate who learned on the job but there is ZERO evidence that he has one scintilla of corruption and those who suggest otherwise are reliant on FAKE NEWS C. You have just voted in an administration whose entire motive is to exploit the people. Among them are zealous evangelicals that think you, and the rest of us, are condemned to hell and want to expedite our journey there. And, Trump, their puppet has no moral compass; he probably loathes gays but finds it expedient to use us. D. in your desire to embrace “morality” and support business you will surrender your rights and find your behavior conscribed and will be required to reenter the closet. This is what you have embraced and are promoting. Suicides will increase; disease will increase as men fear seeking treatment; liberty will be slowly strangled. Wake up. Your comments and those of your soul mates (if they aren’t actually E European trolls) reflect an “I’ve got mine” mentality and are extremely depressing.

  10. Tomm

People have a right to protest and express their opinion. I’m surprised the LGBT community would divide itself over politics. It’s not about whining about Hilary losing its about protesting a VPN with anti gay agenda.

  11. Santoryu

i’d offer a critique of liberalism here if it weren’t for all the negative nancies in the comments
sucking republican dick isn’t going to make conservatives like you more

  12. Randy

Unfortunately, events like this do not tastefully promote the cause, but rather only builds a bigger wall and more contempt on the part of conservatives. There needs to be more tolerance for everyone’s rights…both directions. Love and peace!

  13. JC

I liked the rainbow banners in the neighborhood.

The dance party not so much. I’d wait for actual anti-gay legislation to be introduced and then participate in a true political protest. But things like this help build a movement — one we’re going to have to re-invent — so it’s not ALL bad.

  14. edward

I didn’t know adam4adam was a bastion of fascist gay men
    Unbelievable these comments!
If gay men activists and our allies had taken advice from these conservative blind fools we would still be in the closet and in the jails and in the morgue.
You people don’t know what time it is. And you don’t know what side yoir bread is buttered
    Shame on all of you

  15. dcmusbear

Truly, f*** you, you ignorant queers. Google Pence and anti-LGBTQ laws he enacted (and the subsequent news conference where he stood at the new conference podium speechless like and idiot when it was repealed) , his support for conversion therapy (deemed harmful by the APA), and a HOST of awful things he has said about us. He is the most conservative person to reach that high in our gov’t and we need to keep him in check. He is the guy who breaks ties in the Senate!! He WANTS Israel and the Palestinians to got to war because that is when Jesus will return. PUHLEEZ. As the great parliamentarian Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” You folks keep protesting peacefully. YOU MAKE US PROUD!

    • Santoryu

no proof i’ve seen that he supports conversion therapy. he’s just a conservative; that means not putting the state in charge of making everyone a good person
i would like to see that press conference, and the information you gave isn’t enough for me to find it

      • JC

Snopes.com, the go-to site for truth-seekers, has this to say.

When Pence ran for Congress in 2000, Snopes quotes this Pence position:

“Congress should support the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.”

        Snopes further clarifies:

“Although he didn’t say so outright, the position has been widely interpreted as signaling Pence’s support for “gay conversion” therapy, which seeks to “cure” patients of being attracted to members of the same sex.

“According to the American Psychological Association, electric shocks were one of the techniques used to address homosexuality through “aversion therapy” prior to the group’s decision in 1973 to stop classifying it as a mental disorder. By the time Pence made his statement regarding the Ryan White CARE Act, that group and several others, including the American Psychiatric Association, had rejected the practice.”

So, no, Pence didn’t say he would personally round up and force gays to undergo shock treatments. He “merely” said he wanted Federal dollars to be directed at those who would do the dirty work for him.

  16. BEOSKIN

so wonderful to read the majority of views expressed against the filthy obammunists for a lesbian who hides in her closet!
try protesting against muslim terrorist scum around the world who financed your losing dyke! these muslims are murdering real queers who just want to live their lives in peace not prance for hillary in nine inch heels!
still, the obama, the gay serial killer who murdered three ex boyfriends to cover up his gay past is gone! gone with the wind! and soon his fellow muslim invaders will be gone with him!

  17. Sean

Sorry to say, I think it’s pointless and will only fall upon blind eyes and deaf ears. Write your local representatives and express your heartfelt feelings about being treated as second class citizens just because of what comes natural to you and through no choice of your own. This type of protest action only fuels more anger and hatred by those who already despise the gay community. To me, Republicans are the modern day equivalent of the Pharisees in their blatant display of hypocrisy, claiming to be on the side of evangelicals but lacking in any true Christ-like love and compassion for all people. Just keep pushing the “love is love” sentiment in a sensible and intelligent manner and hopefully they’ll begin to recognize their shortcomings. Either way, I think we’ll gain a lot more respect and understanding in the long run by expressing our discontent in a more logical and considerate fashion.

  18. Dan

This is good. You Trump lovers, just let us be. We will have our say. They need to know we are watching them all the time. We don’t trust them. We will protest all the way. Mike Pence and Trump are fakers. Con. And we will not be silent and not do anything because nothing will come out of it. You are the losers. We will show force. The fight goes on.

  19. Dave

All this generation knows how to do is protest. Protest this. Protest that. Most of it is to draw attention so they can make news on social media. If they really want to make change, they should vote, get involved, or go into politics and make changes themselves.

    • JC

I don’t think the Millennial generation, if that’s what you meant by “this” generation, protests nearly enough except possibly at a keyboard.

The Baby Boom Generation knew how to do in-your-face protests that got results, however slowly. People of many races helped build real movements that resulted in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and what came after it. Ended Jim Crow. Changed the nation’s opinion of, and approach to, the Vietnam War. Gave birth to the modern gay liberation movement at Stonewall and throughout the ’70s. Civil disobedience in the ’80s forced the government and pharmaceutical companies to get real about the AIDS crisis which wiped out a large portion of a generation of gay men. Shall I continue?

With this rogue gallery of extremists dedicated to the harm of many in our society–including LGBTs–now in control of all branches of government, we will need to be militant once again. If it takes a street dance to get people motivated, so be it.

  20. Derrick

Jesus. I thought the Trump (hired Moldovans) Trolls were all on Twitter. Lo and behold, they’re on Adam4Adam as well/and isn’t that just swell. Is Cameron Harris (NYT front page/Thursday, Jan 19) on here as well? So you all are pleased that Mike Pence is in office? That Trump is going to appoint anti-Gay Supreme Court justices that believe gay sex should be outlawed? That Betsy DeVos should be Ed Secretary? Gay conversion therapy will be next. PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST: PROTEST IS PATRIOTIC, even if puerile. Or is everyone supposed to PRETEND once again and “act straight”? Reread these comments. Recidivism at it’s worst

    • edward

      Derrick…
What the HELL is going on here…
      Thank you for your comment
The trump effect seems to have all the worms coming out of the wood work

Never did i ever think i would see a day like this

  21. EO

I’m myself a gay man and I must say that I think it’s pathetic, childish and useless. I agree with everyone’s comments above. Come on guys……..GROW UP!!!!!

  22. GayGuyNJ

Stop already! I’m so glad I am not a bleeding heart liberal. Am I gay? Yes I am and very proud to be, but things like this make the entire “community” look bad. The democrat party claims to be inclusive and tolerant? Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites!!

    • lEO

The DNC will RALLY behind another ” Coastal Progressive Democrat” in 2020!most likely Senator Corey Booker, whom represents the state of New Jersey.
Let’s hope Senator Booker, ” Comes Out”, before the 2020 Presidential campaign season begins, and he becomes tbe USA’,s First Openly Gay President.

  23. Hunter0500

The “Community” again undoing progress that had been made for acceptance. No respect for the people who live in the neighborhood. No respect to for the vice President. Yet, these very people will loudly and proudly demand that they deserve respect.

  24. Dailyplanetboy

    Im torn on this issue.

On the one hand Mike Pence is hated by his home state and seems not care. That’s a red flag.

But…this is fuel for conservatives and ignorant people who just see us as caricatures.

But I think the boy in the denim shorts is kinda surprisingly hot haha

    • lEO

Perhaps IMAWEENA would have joined the protestors if they were all Muscle Daddy’s ,
Go-Go Boy’s, Bears & Cubs, Mr Leathernan etc.

I’m assuming the intent of his posting was to add comic relief to the street dance party topic.
Unfortunately, his posting can be taken as
      cyber-bullying and bigoted.

Most importantly on the 14th, July 2016
Nice, France was attacked by a,
“Radical Islamic Terrorist” during her Bastille Day Celebration…this attack was France’s 9/11.
Hundreds of Frances citizens were killed, maimed and injured, when this
“Radical Islamic Terrorist” , ran his tractor trailer-truck through barricades, then running over strollers, carriages, and pedestrians as they ran for their lives, killing newborns, infants, toddlers, mothers, fathers, etc , etc etc.
Additionally he terrorized thousands and thousands of Parisians, and individual from all over the world vacationing in Nice, France.

When you suggested someone run over ” The Rainbow People” with a truck some crazy terrorist may follow through with your request.
Perhaps another ” Orlando” massacre all in the name of jihad.
Personally I think you should MAN-UP, with an apology, but I’ll leave that up to you.

  25. Del

This how we communicate what we want? This is how we foster good relationships with our neighbors? And we want to be treated with respect? Wow.

  26. Goldenloverinmym

no wonder so many straight people are afraid gays, when the see the clowns and behaviors that i have never acted like in these clips. Do you want your kids to be shown acting like this. why is it when the TV people show gay people or interview a guy person it seems like they find the wildest looking drag queen and then all the straight see that and think that he is a real representation of all gays
