News : Prince Charming Was An Escort?

Finding Prince Charming premieres on Logo this coming Thursday, September 8 at 9pm ET but already the show is being hounded by controversy.

Hours after Logo TV introduced its very first leading man Robert Sepulveda, Jr. and his thirteen suitors for its upcoming TV show this fall, rumor of Mr. Sepulveda’s past as an escort surfaced online.

And it came with videos.

Sepulveda sat down with The Huffington Post on Tuesday, August 30, to address the rumor. “The past is the past. I was young and it helped through college,” Sepulveda admitted to host Noah Michelson. “But what I want people to focus on is who I am today as an entrepreneur, as an activist. I started a non-profit and, you know, focusing on the show. That’s really what I want people to focus on.”

Lance Bass, the host of the show, jumped in and confessed he’s got a past of his own. “We all have our past. I was in a boy band. I’ll admit it.”

Sepulveda added, “The show allowed me as well to close a lot of chapters in my life that I felt a lot of guilt around, a lot of shame and a lot of things I thought I couldn’t share and express.”

Watch the interview below.

A source reportedly close to the show revealed to TheWrap that the network was unaware of Sepulveda’s past up until well into production. It was said that the network followed ‘standard protocol’ but that ‘nothing came up during the background check.’

In a separate news TMZ reported that one of Sepulveda’s thirteen suitors is HIV positive and that the revelation had been emotional.

Whether outside or inside the show, Finding Prince Charming has got plenty of dramas to go around. But there’s no doubt there’s also sexiness and fun abound.

So when women do it, it’s “getting thru college” but when guys do it becomes a scandal? Pfffft. It’s a cynical publicity ploy. Logo knew this going in or they’re inept and stupid.

@Joe LIES! The gay community is more judgemental than another part of society demanding strict standards of beauty and preference towards Caucasian males than non-Caucasian which men like I have to face everyday. Anyone different is ostracized in the society.

Maybe i’m just jaded. I just felt like his whole speech on non-profit this and president that and whatever was so hollow. I don’t know this guy so maybe going from escort to pay for college to entrepreneur/activist-whatever has great motivations and i’m just being a bitch. It’s just hard for me to take these kinds of shows seriously. Especially when it’s hosted by Lance Bass…Lord have mercy.
