Watch This: Madonna Posts Pride Month Tribute

Madonna has had a long and storied 30-plus years in the entertainment industry, and the support of her gay fans has certainly played a part in her career’s longevity. It’s no wonder then that Queen of Pop had some pretty supportive words for the LGBTQ community this Pride Month.

Madonna took to her Instagram account to share a video of herself singing Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato’s song, “Solo”. In the caption to her post, she said she bows down to the gay people who have taught her to “stand tall in the face of adversity”. She also admitted that she missed the fierceness of the LGBT community that gave her life the moment she set foot in New York City.

The pop star also credited gay men for teaching her a “New dance, how to dress, how to drag, how to slay…to not give up hope, to own my inner bitch and to love my flaws!”

Watch the video and read the caption below:

Madonna has been a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community, speaking out on issues like AIDS and HIV, as well as gender equality. She has supported organizations like the American Foundation for AIDS Research or amfAR and BID 2 BEAT AIDS.

Other celebrities to show support for the New York City Pride Month celebrations include Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue. Also present at the Pride parade were tennis legend Billie Jean King, gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon, Parkland activist Emma Gonzales, and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Peppermint, Sasha Velour, and Miz Cracker. An estimated two million people were also in attendance. This year’s New York Pride parade worked with the theme “Defiantly Different”

Madonna has been supporting the LBGTQ family since I was young and pretty. Too bad the young and pretty don’t pay her the same respect she’s always given them.

Nothing but an old worn out opportunistic attention whore. Spare me your “oh shes done so much for the gay community”, others that are far less known have done far more.

So sad to see gay men bash supporters like Madonna. I have worked at AMFAR and the amount of unpublished support this women has given to the HIV community is astounding. She, along with other supporters such as Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Sharon Stone, The Clooneys, Nancy Pelosi etc. (all by the way would be considered ‘old whores’ also) have given time and money to support the gay community’s efforts to battle HIV. I think that the bashers here need to take a real strong look in the mirror and ask themselves ‘what have I done’ – besides practicing unsafe sex and relying on pharmaceuticals to save their lives. If your a gay man under 30/35 you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT THE AIDS EPIDEMIC WAS LIKE. It was a disease that no one, and I mean no one wanted to be associated with. Thank God Dame Elizabeth Taylor stood up and started a movement and venue to get straight/closeted people involved. She use to tell sad truths about calling other actors/producers/directors and they would blatantly tell her they had no interest in discussing AIDs. For those of you who know nothing, which by this commentary is most of you, Miss Taylor lost her long time friend Rock Hudson to this devastating disease, prompting her to become even more involved in the crusade and involving other celebrities such as MADONNA to speak out and donate time and money.

I find as a mental health professional working in the gay community in two major cities (San Francisco & Manhattan) young gay men have no idea what it was like 20- 30 years ago. The fag bashing, bar raids, blaten hatred, job loss, etc. You owe your freedom today to people like Madonna and others who were strong enough and humaine enough to say enough is enough and ‘came out’ in support of the community.

Just because you have an asshole doesn’t mean you have to act like one. This country is going through a drastic change and not for the better. With the retirement of Justice Kennedy this is going to open the door for Trump and his cronies to appoint a conservative right wing judge to the supreme court. Meaning that the rights we have today may be gone tomorrow. If you don’t think it’s possible you are a fool, or more accurately an idiot.

In the future rather than trash talk a supporter take a good look at what is going on and send your hatred and anger to those who deserve it. Mainly the ORANGE CLOWN at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. For those of you that don’t know, thats the address of the White House…

NOH8 – Get tested, know your status. Practice SAFE sex and for God’s sake vote the Republicans OUT!

Dear Tread and Mike……….She wrote and performed, “In This Life” on the Erotica Album. The first and only AIDS song that broke my heart and healed me, time after time, while burying all of my lovers and best friends. All while the Ronnie, the President wouldn’t even mention that there was a disease that was killing gay men across America………You two bitches have no dicks, no drugs and two dirty butts to match you nasty mouths.
