Today, we are taking the time to mourn and remember the Pulse shooting victims and survivors as well as their respective families and friends.

On June 12, 2016, a year ago today, a lone gunman stormed into the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida and opened fire at the patrons claiming the lives of 49 people and leaving over 50 others wounded.

The City of Orlando and Orange County Government and Pulse declared June 12, 2017 as “Orlando United Day – A Day of Love and Kindness” to observe the first anniversary of the Pulse massacre. The move was done to “honor the memory of the 49 innocent Pulse victims, support survivors and recognize the compassion and love that was displayed by the Central Florida community following the tragedy,” Orlando said in an official statement.

Around 1,000 people gathered outside Pulse today at 2am while a memorial service was held exclusively for the survivors and family and friends of the victims, CNN reports. Prior to the said memorial, 49 people dressed as angels arrived and “surrounded the club.”

The city will also hold a ceremony tonight starting at 7pm titled “Orlando Love: Remembering Our Angels” at Lake Eola Park. Moreover, there will be a community gathering at the Pulse Nightclub called “Moments of Hope and Healing” at 10pm.

The church bells in Orlando and across the world rang 49 times today at 12nn in commemoration and honor of the lives lost during the Pulse Orlando shooting.

Dubbed as the deadliest violence against LGBT and the deadliest terrorist attack in the Unites States since 9/11, the tragedy has left an indelible mark not just in the LGBT community but people around the world.

    Rest In Peace 49 ANGELS.
Kudos to Orlando, Pulse and everyone involved, with this Memorial.
It’s beautiful seeing people working together, paying homage to those 49 Souls and The Survivors, of this horrific terrorist attack.

Tonight, I lit 49 Luminary Bags in my front-yard, and sent my love and prayers, down south to Orlando.
God Be with the victims and their Families today, and always.

    Peace.
