There’s something awesome going on at Billboard thanks to their 30 Days of Pride celebration. As we all know, June marks the LGBT Pride Month and, as part of their observation, Billboard asked pop icons to write a love letter addressed to the LGBTQ community. Celine Dion was one of the celebrities who responded along with Adam Lambert, Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears, and RuPaul to name a few.

“I’ve always said that music is a language that has no barriers, and it’s also true that love is an emotion that has no barriers,” the French-Canadian singer said in her letter. Celine added that she has been fortunate to have “so many beautiful people from the LGBTQ community” throughout her entire career. They were individuals who contributed significantly to her success one way or the other. They are the talented performers, musicians, producers and songwriters, colleagues, and loyal fans who Celine described as the ones who had “stood by me, in the name of love.”

“I hope and pray that our world will continue to better understand that acceptance and tolerance are virtues that we can never have enough of,” she continued.

Celine concluded her letter by saying, “For now, I join each and every one of you in this year’s celebration of Pride, sending you all my love and wishing you peace and happiness today, tomorrow… and well beyond.”

Celine revealed she is honored for the opportunity to write a letter for the LBGTQ community, a community she said, that made such a positive impact on her life.

The letters could not have come at a better time especially since Trump did not release a proclamation for the LGBT Pride Month. By the end of May, Trump proclaimed June as, “African-American Music Appreciation Month,” “National Homeownership Month,” “Great Outdoors Month,” “National Ocean Month,” and “National Caribbean-American Heritage Month.” No such proclamation was made for the LGBT Pride Month and certainly there were no mentions of   White House hosting LGBT Pride Month events.

Trump is an asshole, that’s why no proclamation. Whether you celebrate gay pride month or not, this should still be a slap in the face to each and every one of us
