Watch This: Google Home Ad Features Gay Parents
Google continues to show that it doesn’t shy away from LGBTQ representation in its latest ad for its product, Google Home.
Billed as a “Smart Speaker and Home Assistant”, the Google Home is a voice-activated speaker that can get you real-time answers from Google, as well as play music, podcasts or radio. Simply by starting a request with “Ok Google”, users can take advantage of all these features.
The device recently introduced voice analysis technology that allows multiple users to use it, and the ad put out to demonstrate it makes use of gay parents.
In the ad, a father named Alex walks in to his two kids having breakfast and asks Google Home what he has planned for the day. He’s told that traffic to work is heavy as he walks over to his partner Ross and gives him a pat on the arm.
Ross then asks what his day is going to be like, to which Google replies that his meeting isn’t until ten. He then volunteers to take the kids to school to Alex’ relief.

This isn’t the first time that Google has used LGBTQ people in its advertising. Last year’s ad for Google Calendar featured a gay man named Brad who finds himself dumped by his boyfriend. He resolves to take up yoga and Google Calendar helps him find the time in his schedule to do it. The ad ends with another possible romance for Brad in the form of George, a new coworker from Spain.

I like it very much, gay people deserve the equality and the respect as all humans do. Its great
same opinion as me bro 🙂 I love it!
Have yet to see it on TV tho. But I do love it
would be more interesting to know which markets air it, and which markets don’t….
This is pretty genius as a tech demo. Have two users with fairly similar voices and the software was able to easily distinguish between the two.
Well, thank you Google for not making a stereotype and showing that we’re perfectly normal. We aren’t aliens. This is a positive step, advertisers PAY ATTENTION.
Very sweet ad… Could have maybe been improved by a quick little good morning kiss between the two dads, rather than just a pat on the arm. But it’s very cute when Alex is surprised by his daughter’s use of French, and asks Google Home for a translation!
