News: Travel Ban Aftermath: What’s Next?

A number of protests erupted on the streets of Britain and the United States following Trump’s issuance of an executive order barring refugees and citizens of seven countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia in particular. Watch the video below.

Although no date has been set yet, thousands of protesters in Britain are calling for the cancellation of Trump’s official state visit but an even more massive amount of people took online and signed a similar petition. The visit, they say, will “cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.” Said online petition has now over a million signatures as of this writing.

On another note, protesters in the US chose airports in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington, New York, and Dallas for their venue to air their protests but others also reportedly gathered outside the White House, at Boston’s Copley Square, and at Battery Park in Manhattan.

Amidst the chaos in the airports, the courthouses, and the streets, Trump fired the acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night for “refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.”

The controversial ban will be on effect for 120 days for the refugees—save for the Syrians whose ban is indefinite—and 90 days for the immigrants from the aforementioned countries. The Department of Homeland Security however, is quick to assure that 392 green card holders were exempted from the ban and were granted entry but there were others who were not as lucky and had to turn back. Read their stories here.

The move is reportedly the beginning of Trump’s promise to safeguard the country’s borders, to improve security, and to “keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America.”

For more information on the travel ban, you may read the full text of the order titled, “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States” here.

What do you think about the ban? Because of said ban, speculations are flying that an anti-LGBT order is up next.

“Speculations are flying” that you’re a silly queen. Don’t be absurd…we have enough fake news out there already without your baiting statement regarding a forthcoming “anti-LGBT order”.

America first..the list of seven countries was compiled by the obama administration..trump enforced it. Im all for better vetting and protection of our citizens.

My, what are you smoking, “travel ban”????

How about a temporary ban on immigration from certain countries that harbor terrorists, the exact same ban imposed at least 5 times over the last 10 years.

Many Americans, including gay ones, are happy the government will be sorting out the real refugees from the impostors, we’ve seen enough terror in our clubs, our airports, and we don’t mind that someone is going to put a pause while security is improved.

    Travel ban??? smh…

If you are getting all your news from CNN, all I can say is you are not fully informed. While Trump won just less than half the popular vote, he won the electoral vote without the help of most news agencies and even other Republicans. He is our President.
That being said, we all are concerned about the agenda that will be put out by Republicans and Supreme Court. We must all be very attentive to the issues and VOTE.
The vittriol right now is unbearable. Remember when Hank Williams got fired by ESPN? We have people calling Trump supporters and Trump a Nazi. We have to deal with this for four years. Lets do it peacefully.

Even though I’m keeping the President’s actions under scrutiny, I am more concerned about people not accepting our freedoms by imposing their religious condemnation on the rest of us. I’m well aware what Shari’a stands for and I won’t go down without a fight. I’ve lost friends and fellow soldiers at the hands of extremists and will stay vigilant always.

I read here that 20 percent of gays voted for Trump. I hope that you are happy. He might. One after us next, they may however be no one to protest in our favor.

  7. Brian

This is a bias account of what other nations view on the best interest of the United States. It’s perhaps even more slanted because here is little reporting on the why. Why did President Trump do this. Perhaps if the gay community were properly informed then maybe they can simmer down, let the president work, and find something else to complain about. Let the UK take in these “refuges”. Worked for ten so far, NOT.

  8. einathens

it’s a bit of a jump to anti-LGBTQ restrictions. how would you screen for such a thing? TSA-administered fellatio tests? vagina-response quizzes?

Let’s protest our actual grievances before we start in on theoretical ones.

  9. Tony

Oh my God! An “anti-LGBT order”. Have people really not listened to what the President has said time and time again? As a gay man, I feel completely comfortable and safe with President Trump and his decisions. Get over it.

  10. Chic

    Wow, what a misleading headline!
In Obama’s time “refugees” were banned, exactly as Trump is doing, to allow security to evaluate the entry process.

Do we want more rabid anti-gay, anti-womans-rights radicals coming in?

Once the folks have been evaluated, immigration will resume. There’s no travel ban.

Dear Dave, you should know that a CNN article yesterday mentioned that Trump reiterated that he would not make any changes that would affect the LGBT community. He said he would continue to leave that to the states.

As for the Ban, I applaud it. I’m not hating, but it is a good move in an attempt to mitigate the risk of an increased trend of terrorist activity within the USA. I do hate that because of a few bad Muslim extremists, that all are being punished. But it’s kind of like that time when I was in school and the teacher was writing on the whiteboard and a mischievous kid threw a book across the classroom towards her. And no one admitted who it was so she punished the entire class including the good kids who always do their work and never cause any trouble. But it was something the teacher had to do to make a valid point.

The press got ahold of a draft of his next big thing, sending LEGAL aliens (green carders) back where they came from if they’re on any sort of welfare/Sec. 8/SSI, etc. That one got by Bannon’s. SS and was scheduled to be rolled out by the end of the week. Also, Frumpy made a statement about NOT rolling back protections for LGTBQIwhatthefuckevers, but he’s lied so many times, who knows what’ll really happen? After all, he’s too stupid to be running things (hell, it took him TWO schools go finally get a Bachelor’s…and Daddy Frump had to “wire” that one he finally got form Wharton?)….BANNON the Neo-Nazi is really running things, and he’s as tweeked a tweeker as I’ve ever seen holding the levers of power…him and Kellyanne Crackho. Hey, you 20% of LGBTQIwhatthefuckevers who voted for this asshat? FUCK YOU.

  13. Randy

The antics and feigned fear from the precious little snowflakes is quite entertaining.
Thankfully we finally have a president that is putting Anerican interests first.

    • Dave

Mike, do you not realize that that’s their government? There’s people, citizens too…those regular people are not crazy as their government. They are gay, they are bi, they are families, they work, they don’t all hang gays, they’re not ONLY muslim extremist. Did you see the news about this Christian dude from one of these countries, he has a green card and could not even came back to his country, USA, after 17 years living here. WTF!? A government is not ALL the people. Like Trumpett! He does crazy things, does that make all americans stupid, misogynist, racist? Not at all…
There are immigrants, gay immigrants, working immigrants, business owner immigrants, they are not all ISIS murderers for fuck sake. By reading your comment I realize now why Trump got elected…

      • SeriouslyAware

Well said, Dave! Too many US American gay men think only of their comfort and their next fuck. IMHO, these are the same gay men who voted for USA President 45. Regrettably, these gay men don’t realize their “freedom” is dependent on the freedom of “all”. USA approved “same sex marriage” but the USA has not approved a law to protect LBGTQ citizens from discrimination.

          • anonimatovato

Dave I’m glad you’re not backing down. I’m surprised at all the gay men that voted against their best interest. Even if Trump is for gay rights, he is still anti immigrant, anti pro choice and the list goes on. He doesn’t serve all people of America.

No offense, but since when gay became conservative? Because there’s nothing conservative about wanting to have sex with the same sex and get married.

  14. Wait and see

The problem most people have with Trump is he is doing everything publicly. Every President in the last 40 years has enacted executive orders on immigration… Trump just did it with a transparency we don’t see and aren’t used to. The man is giving us a look into government, something we desperately need. I’m not a Trump supporter, I didn’t vote for Hillary, I pretty much agreed with the meme that we needed to stay single for 4 years. I am adopting a wait and see attitude toward him, and everyone should…Could he be the devil? Sure. Could he be just a giant oompa loompa escaped from the chocolate factory? Yes. Could he be someone who has spent years finding and exploiting loopholes in a flawed system and now wants to close them up? Probably. We are a nation of immigrants, I believe that. Does that mean we have a duty to house and feed the world? No, at least not when homelessness and poverty run rampant in our country, while illegal immigrants qualify for free healthcare, welfare, affordable housing and citizenship support. We need serious reforms on those programs. I fully support drug testing welfare applicants regularly, and even going as far as to sterilize them if they already have more than 2 children. Why should I pay for the food and housing for someone who has 6 kids with more on the way who gets free/cheap housing, a free landline and cell phone, free cable, and sometimes up to $4000 a month in food stamps. It irks me as a citizen, with a job to be at the grocery store making sure I have enough in my cart to get me through til my next payday while making sure I still have money for gas and bills while someone with an EBT foodstamp card is filling up 2 carts with things like filet mignon and lobster and not paying a dime for it, while I’m kicking myself for splurging on a bag of chips that are on sale and dip…. let’s see that reform take place, and he wants to do some of that reform.

    • anonimatovato

I never heard of free cable. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. I’m sure there’s people that know how to cheat the system, but did you know that even if you work in a minimum wage job, you might still not qualify for food stamps? It’s not that easy and ‘free’ to get them. Then they have to go I think every 6 months to get another interview with the case worker to see if they still qualify for the program. They don’t really give out that much ‘money’ anyways. The government still puts high restrictions in those programs. It’s not that ‘easy’ or ‘free’ to get them. For the ‘free’ phone, you have to be in rolled on welfare to get the phone. I know this because of my friends from work.

More Fake News By Democrates/Liberals. You can travel anywhere you want. If your not properly vetted coming from those countries listed by Obama Administration into the USA you will not get in until you get vetted properly so we know you want to be part of our country and not destroy our country and way of life.

  16. vic

i strongly agree and support President Trump decision for travel and refugee ban.
we need a strong and secure border ,airport security and support police and law, and this is all for us ,our people to live safe and we should make America safe again ,and we need this President to help us to fell safe and to live safe .
He is our president ,we should support him and give him time to fix this mess,
we should all hand to hand help him to improve this

    • Dave

what mess? I dont even live in USA and I know that Barack made such amazing things about jobs, economy etc…
You guys are scared, that’s why you all have guns and then things like Pulse nightclub and Fort Lauderdale happen.
No guns, no mass murders. Nothing to do with borders… Americans killed americans in most of your latest attacks. Americans, not muslims!

      • Jake

We have the right to own guns in this country. The only ones doing the killings in America are the left wing liberal nut jobs and those that think that is the only way to be famous.

      • anonimatovato

Right on Dave! There’s also this faux sense that all these foreigners are after us and omg they’re all terrorist! deport deport deport! Everybody is going bat shit crazy and rolling along with Frump. Yes, I’m not negating that we’re in constant danger, but the way ol Donald and his gang is doing things is overreacting way too much.

        • Dave

Yeah, well, if it wasn’t for immigration USA wouldn’t be what it is today for sure with all its diversity and great companies with talented people.
