Isn’t the internet an interesting place? More specifically when it comes to Gay Porn? The WWW is saturated with studios buying for your attention and hard earned bucks. By far the most iconic brand out there is the powerhouse Falcon Studios. While they are not the oldest studio, nor the first, they are the longest running gay porn studio world-wide today!

Flash back to 1971, a mere 45 years ago – a young, eager 26-year-old budding entrepreneur named Chuck Holmes, tired of his life working construction sales in San Francisco, set off to change the landscape of not only the Bay Area, but the world. This desire to create and mass produce adult content for the gay populous, then, primarily based on his personal tastes, contributed to the sexual revolution of the time.

Holmes flipped the world of gay porn on its head by allowing consumers to mail-order movies to watch in the privacy of their own homes. While the allure of visiting the X-rated cinemas and underground book-stores selling dirty mags and showing gay sex flicks still had its loyal consumers, the footprint expanded exponentially with Falcons branding. Even despite poor production budgets, and consequently perhaps not the best quality content, Holmes was still able to keep things visually stimulating. These first years had everything you would expect of the time…the ever so cheesy music, synonymous with porn of the days played over top of explicit scenes of virtually non-existent dialogue or corny scene set-ups. But, even still, Holmes stayed true to his vision with the primary focus being raw, uninhibited and often unseen sex acts between consenting men, on screen which, after 45 years, definitely grabbed the attention of the eager gay viewers.

Falcon introduced the world to some of the most iconic actors and directors, some of whom enjoy thriving careers in the industry today. One of the first titles released under the Falcon brand was a film called “Come in the Glory Hole” starring actor Joe Markham and Russ Kelly. Sadly, I have yet to find any information or clips on this scene or where it can be found.

It is hard to imagine a studio breaking grounds in a time when your very sexual proclivities could land you in some serious legal hot water, but, Falcon pushed the limits to produce to iconic scenes such as the highly controversial incest scene with The Christy Twins or the introduction to one of gay porn’s most popular and sought after young stars Kip Knoll (or also known as Kip Noll). Iconic movies like ‘The Other Side of Aspen I’ featuring trailblazers in the industry like Dick Fisk (1955 to 1983, automobile accident) and Casey Donovan (1943 to 1987, complications due to AIDS)

Alongside the brand’s years of growth, other notable events were taking place in the world and threatening to hit the adult industry. In 1981, the discovery of the AIDS or “gay cancer” as it was referenced to at the time, didn’t alarm the studio – as most people didn’t know how or why gay men were getting sick. Fast forward to the mid-80s when studios such as Falcon took notice, prominent and dedicated actors were dying in large numbers from this devastating disease and the studios were making conscious efforts protect actors on set from contracting this incurable and (at the time) deadly disease. Condom porn soon became the norm and is the standard to this day for Falcon and its brand.
