News : Trump In, LGBT Out?

Despite polls, pundits, and television talking heads predicting his defeat in the recently conclude American presidential election, Donald Trump has beaten expectations and has actually emerged as the 45th President of the United States of America. Trump won with 276 of the electoral votes, although his opponent, Hillary Clinton, won the popular vote with 59,236,906 votes, leading Trump by 151,119 votes.

So what does this win for the Republican Party mean for the LGBT community? For one thing, the Republican majority in both the House and the Senate means Trump will probably successfully install a Republican-leaning judge to the Supreme Court seat vacated by the deceased Antonin Scalia. He also has the opportunity to replace even more in his four years. The possibility of not just Roe v Wade but also marriage equality being repealed is very high.

Not only did Trump and his running mate, Mike Pence, run on a Republican National Platform that defines marriage as “between one man and one woman”, Pence is also a known supporter of conversion therapy. And in a tense interview with Cosmopolitan, Ivanka Trump revealed that Trump’s “Family First” benefits plan does not include gay men or single-parent men.

It’s no wonder then that Canada’s immigration website suffered numerous crashes during the course of the election, presumably because of people looking to immigrate to Canada as soon as it became more and more apparent that a Trump presidency was in the offing. Coincidentally, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had introduced a bill at the start of 2016 that would make it easier for people to move there — and Trudeau was able to successfully pass the bill.

As reported in GQ, the bill “shortens the length of time someone must be physically present in Canada before qualifying for citizenship, and allows time already spent as permanent residents to count towards the residency requirement.” What was previously a six year residency requirement was reduced to four years.

How do you guys feel about Trump’s victory? Is immigrating to Canada something the LGBT community should now be seriously considering? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!

Hang on boys, it’s going to be a bumpy ride! I’m glad I live in a very blue state. Mr Trump has stated many times that the states should make the decisions, so I’m hoping that means I’m relatively safe until a real person can get back in the most important position in the world.

  2. Cory

I believe he’s more fit for the position. How many times did he have to say he’s for LGBT rights and u keep getting duped by liberal medias agenda? The only thing he said was he thought marriage should have been left to the states for decision. Can you imagine if clinton on and allowed hundreds of thousands in refugees from terrorist countries who have radical beliefs that we should be killed? You have to be kidding me.. this is a win for all of America to keep us safe and protected.

    • Lorenzo

It’s sad how gay man can support this racist, misogynyst! Your idea of conservative stops when you have 5 dicks pouring your ass! Appalling! Next time a man gropes your mother, sister or daughter, don’t be offended! Because your president already did it!

    • TiredOfIt

Quit lying, that is NOT what he said. He said, “Gay marriage? NAH…GONE!” DIRECT quote. What have you been smoking? Were you a Berniebot? THIS GUY IS HITLER INCARNATE. Marla Maples scooped CNN to the fact that he kept a book of collected speeches by Hilter on his nightstand. He’s also psychologically FUBAR….Narcissistic Persoanlity Disorder, Messiah Compelx, the works.

      • Ben

I’ve never seen or heard that quote anywhere. The tactic of comparing people you like to Hitler is immature and resorted to only because you have no legitimate argument against him.

    • Sean

You are an idiot if you think we even have the respect of any other country in the world anymore. It’s over. America is over. Mark my words. Do you not realize that man is a liar, cheat, thief, and everything abhorrent combined into one living evil homer Simpson??? Defending trump is making your stupid show. How embarrassing for you.

    • Timothy

Hang in there Cory, don’t let the brainwashed Liberal Nazis get to you. There still are many gays just like you who understand that the Muslim immigrants are not all our “friends”. Many are here to kill us, gays in particular!
There are still many gays like us that have common sense. Unfortunately many gays are just too busy at the local bathhouse to be bothered actually educating themselves on the issues.

The Trump selection was a surprise. I watched the poll tallies through the evening, and I was mortified to see several of the “definitely Republican victorious” states actually had not begun counting totals. I was also stunned that Cuban immigrants in Florida put him over the top, there, probably because they wanted to distance themselves from Mexicans. I suspect someone will call for review. I have some suspicions of my own, because the one who cried “rig” had such an amazing turnaround. And I cannot believe how many people who abhor politics and corruption, do not know that those are skillsets in modern business. They let Trump trumpet himself. They took the bait. I agree with the “Daily Mail” survey, that it’s 1933 all over again. The parallels are frightening. I suspect some revelations will get him excluded, or impeached. Watch!

  4. Ben

You have to remember that this is the same man who insisted, against many in his party’s wishes, to have an openly gay man speak at the Republican convention. And he did to a standing ovation. I believe the Republican party is changing and most of them think fixing issues like immigration and the economy are much more important than trying to push back against the liberal atmosphere on social issues. I think if they really tried to enact laws that discriminate lgbt people, or try to reverse decisions like marriage equality and row v wade, there would be enormous outrage and push back from the people and many other legislators. I think we need to give Trump a chance.

  5. GENERAL

I for one, homosexual, who thinks with his big head and wallet, couldn’t be happier with outcome of election.
Those gays, who pushed “the folk too far” with their dumb liberal moves, tomany to mention, will now pay the price,as the conservative pendulum swings hard back to bring some balance to this country..

    • TiredOfIt

Congratulations! You’re first in line for “conversion therapy” and Rancho del Pence! With any luck, maybe you’ll get a session with MOOOchele Bachmann’s hubby, Twinkle Toes! YOU are the reason I no longer support the “LGBTQIwhatthefuckever” community…your selfish, priggish attitude.

  6. Mike in Florida

It’s always a good thing to adopt a “wait and see” approach. Listen to words, don’t react to them, react to action not words. Running away is not a sign of maturity, stay and fight the good fight, you don’t change hearts and minds by running away..

    • David

I listened to trumps words and I couldn’t help but to react to them by voting for Clinton. I do agree with trump on one thing, the election must have been rigged, just not against him but for him. Not one voter I have spoken with admits voting for trump. I have asked hundreds and plan to continue. I think we need to check this out further. I think the popular vote should replace the electoral vote crap anyway. How will we know if he collects his presidential paycheck or not? He said he will not accept pay for this job. RIGHT!

  7. Randy

If you’re here legally why would you be out? If you want to leave America, go ahead.
I have not heard Trump say anything about the LGBT people or any other alphabet people.
As far as those who look at the government as their Santa Claus, they should be concerned. They may actually have to start supporting themselves.
Marriage – go to your church, synagogue, or temple and get married if you want, marriage is a religious rite and is not subject to government approval. It is unconstitutional for the government to restrict your practice of your religion.

  8. Scott

I have to laugh at you liberal biased webmasters that tried so hard to jolt the American people into believing Hillary was the 2nd coming (after Obama, of course!)

I’m gay, I’m out to those I chose to be out to, mid-level conservative with a liberal understanding of human need. I don’t believe in gay marriage as a norm, but it should be legal, yes. I don’t believe killing babies after 9 months of life is acceptable, unless medically necessary. And I don’t understand by California wants to charge me $0.23 an ounce more for a COKE, and then tell me it’s healthy to get high. America is just one huge, nutbag case of paradox gone wild.

        • Genku

I work with Muslim people every day at work, they are cool with my sexuality, and Trump is just tapping into irrational fear and anger. The bigger threat to our safety is white straight men with guns. You think Drumph and Pence care about LGBTQ issues? Fuck no. Pence guy denied funds for HIV/AIDS and wanted to fund conversion therapy to kill off the gays. The Drumph cabinet is filled with racist homophobes, with just a few exceptions. I hope I’m wrong, but this looks like pre-National Socialism Germany to me. Fits the pattern: an angry working class, huge income inequality, and a loud-mouth populist strongman for a leader. Eyes open: this fucker is going to fuck things up. Already has. Hate crime on the rise.

  9. Boyd

Im not leaving the USA. We lost this battle but not the fight. We have more to do. Progress will continue. I haven’t been fighting for 40 years to quit and walk away. I want the USA to be acceptable of all my brothers and sisters.

    • TiredOfIt

I’ve fought since the ’70s, and I’m tired of it. The reason I no longer support the “LGBTQIwhatthefuckevers” politically anymore is because of the right wing douchenozzles such as have posted on here, and the namby-pamby “Oh, he’s okayyyyy…” NO, he is NOT OK, and his veep pick is a rabid homophobe and Christian Talibaner. WTF is WRONG with these people nowadays? Well…to hell with ’em….they reap what they sow.

      • Genku

Our job is to resist, not cave in. How to be compassionate to angry Drumph followers will take some work: I get it that people are angry, but are they angry at the banksters and fraudsters and liars and homohaters and white supremacists in his fucking cabinet? They should be. Drumph will find a way to blame the gays. Pence already does that, in spades.

  10. Blake

Interesting. Now everyone on here that thought he was such a good choice. Now your losing everything. So you can only blame yourselves. The writing was on the wall. And you didn’t listen. Now we’ve lost it all and then some and even possible jail time for being ourselves. He’s not my president. But enjoy your choice! !!

    • TiredOfIt

Agreed 100%. Ever since HIV hit in ’80, the gay men’s community has gone nutso. Forget ’em….they’ll lose it, then whine, just like the blacks will when Frump takes their freebies away BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T PUT DOWN THE WEED AND GO VOTE! Disgusting.

      • Timothy

        WOW, a racist Liberal!
        You Sir, are the, “Oxymoron”!
I’m a proud Conservative, I’m also Gay, I’m also White, I was also raised in a, “Love everyone” religious home- Yet none of these one things defines me entirely as a person. Defining yourself entirely by your sexuality-striving for “minority status”, and expecting special treatment because you are “different” and therefore a “special snowflake”, is the downfall of the gay community!

        • Genku

Of course no one thing defines a person–but when you have a boot on your neck, you want it off. If taking the boot off my neck is “special treatment,” then hell yeah I want to be special. And if you think there is no boot on your neck, read a North Carolina newspaper.

      • Iggypop

When you say freebies I’m sure you mean welfare, but I suggest you check your statistics because more whites are on welfare than any race.

  11. Stephen

Today is a sad day for Americans. As I read the preamble of the Constitution, “We the People” reverberated in my mind. We, which includes gay, straight, wealthy, middle class, poor, people of all different ethnic back grounds ann yes even democrats, republicans and independents were failed. How is it, that in our great country the candidate with the majority of votes does not win an election? President Elect Trump your first order of business in your so called “draining of the swamp” should be to reform an election process that really does not reflect, “We The People”. Let us hope that we as the people can work together to heal our differences.

    • TiredOfIt

You do not understand the way national presidential elections work. The Electoral College is a CONSTITUTIONAL REQRUIEMENT. Read Article II sometime. It will take passage by Congress AND a ratification of 2/3 of the states to pass a repeal of the Electoral College requirement, and as a 45 year Democratic activist, I can tell you with complete authority, “AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!” Remember the Equal Rights Amendment? That’s still sitting out there….half ratified…and that was introduced what, 1923? And it took until 1972 to pass it through Congress. It’s Electoral College, or nada, pal. Yeah, it irks some people that Clinton won the popular vote by more than 350,000 votes, and still lost “bigly”…..but her base failed her.

    • BearOKC69

How? The US is a Constitutional Republic with elements of direct democracy. The founders were wary of mob rule so the Electoral College was set up. Most states have a winner take all approach so whoever gets the most votes in that state gets all of the electoral votes for that state. Most of the time the electoral and popular align. But there have been instances before where they didn’t.

Jury is still out on this election because a few states still haven’t been decided (tho Trump has the needed electoral victory already). The national balance is statistically very small and once all of the votes are counted including absentees the total could tip in Trumps favor or Clinton popular lead may widen.

I don’t think either candidate was qualified to be president. Regardless of who won. One thing is for sure. It will be an interesting 4 years. If nothing else Trump will be very intertaining. Just as he has been thru the campaign.

      • TiredOfIt

I’m so happy for you that you find this mess “entertaining.” It’s not. The country is coming off the rails, and, likes so many prototypical gay men, you’re most interesting in “entertainment value.” You are right about PART of the Founders’ guarding against “mob rule,” but that’s exactly what happened this cycle…the mob won by jiggering polls and getting right wing-oriented churches to organize their mobs. Here’s a reality check for ya: 1.) 48.6% of the registered electorate DID NOT EVEN VOTE. 2.) Clinton now leads Frump in the popular vote by almost 400K votes, nationwide. 3.) Gary Johnson swung the election to Frump by syphoning off clowns who somehow thought Clinton to be “unqualified”, or potheads who wanted weed legalized Federally. I can go on and on, if you’d like,

  12. David

Id really like to stay and would intensely hate to have to leave what little is left of my family behind, even if it does feel like the safest option, but who knows, if we stay we can keep an eye on Donald Trump and hopefully get enough people around to impeach him the moment we feel he’s [email protected]#ed up and hopefully do the same with whatever people he decides to appoint to the supreme Court……..but just in case that even that fails, have a plan b..or c for Canada

    • TiredOfIt

No one’s going to impeach him. You know why? Gays like these thunderturds in this forum, blacks, and Latinos VOTED AGAINST THEIR OWN INTEREST, or JUST STAYED HOME. Clinton should’ve won this thing, but apathy and laziness ruled the day. Now, they’ll all get their just desserts. I’m sick of supporting a bunch of losers, and yes, my papers are in for Canada, where people tend to be a lot smarter. Must be the cold…..

    • BearOKC69

In order to Impeach you have to flip the House and to convict, flip the Senate. The Repubs hold both chambers so that isn’t going to happen any time soon. Remember Bill Clinton was impeached by the Republican held House but the Dem controlled Senate wouldn’t convict. While there are valid concerns with Trump (just as there were with Hillary). We have to take a wait and see approach.

        • TiredOfIt

@sandiegoinexile You got it! You’d have to do a “dual impeachment,” and impeaching the VP who hasn’t been in power yet won’t get past even a Democratic House. Frump will be a slam dunk, as his “high crimes and misdemeanors” stretch back decades even before he got in there. Still, something will have to be done. I understand there’s already a nascent recall movement forming to start taking out GOP Congressmen and Senators in state that have the recall right, but those seldom do much of anything.

  13. TQ

How do I feel? I voted for him so I feel great, and relieved. In the grand scheme of things there are far more important issues facing this country than whether I can marry another man. Trump isn’t going to even think about gay issues, if he even ever does, until he tackles the big stuff. I refused to be pandered to from the Democrats. This country has serious problems after 8 years of the Obama disaster and we need a person willing to fix them. Im so sick and tired of gay people seeing everything through the LGBT prism. How about thinking about the terrible economy, out of control government intrusion in our lives, skyrocketing health insurance due to Obamacare, 95 million people out of the work force, terrorism, the $20 trillion national debt (which increased under Obama more than all other presidents combined), 50 million people on government assistance…I could go on. Big picture guys…big picture. So yeah….feeling good today. Plus I didn’t want a crook in the White House.

      • Me

Yeah!! That’s such bullshit man! I guess you forgot the part about us coming out of the worst recession since the great depression.. But that was all Obama’s fault wasn’t it!! Oh yeah! What the fudge ever yo! Iraq war debts came due that the republican party spent and then never bothered to figure out how they were going to pay for it… and instead let Mr. Obama clean up their mess. Mark my words! ! In a few years.. we’ll be cleaning up the next big crusade the republican party decides to get involved in and then years from then someone will be unlucky enough to have to figure out where we’re going to come up with the money to pay for it. like the 1 trillion+ spent on Iraq after 911. Damn it’s like we all have amnesia or some fucking bullshit like that. Don’t even think about blowing smoke up my ass regarding any of THAT!! You’re delusional!! $50 says these peeps who are so happy about Trump. Are probably just artificial bots. They are designed to shape our opinions and thoughts. like reverse engineered social media, it’s weird and wrong in so many ways!!!

      • Randy j

He legalized same sex marriage… thats it he single handedly ruined our country. The riots racial issues way out of hand all under him. The riots started with him. Obama & his family have done nothing but bring this country even farther into despair & discourse. Michelle obama & the ridiculous “healthy” school lunch bs I eat lunch with my niece every week & watch more than 75% of the food go into the trash, untouched wasted money. Our country needs to be smacked back into place we need a harsh reality check tbh im 30 years of age white black and rican mix & im happy hes in we need medicine I hope he’s like Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. This country needs a reality check in bad.

    • northside

When TRump repeals equal rights, then you will change your tune…we are the last group of people being openly discriminated against, and its about to get worse. Not only us but how is that idiot going to build a wall? Mexicans are tunneling under the one we have now..How is going to deport 11 million illegal aliens, each one is guaranteed due process by the constitution…that will take years and millions of dollars..and what about the illegals that had children here, theyre US citizens..what will become of them…you need to get real…we are so screwed…

    • Chris

Agreed all the way. The entire world is not gay! They don’t have to be! There are bigger fish to fry. It’s not just all about YOU girls! Over the last 8 yrs we have gotten into a big mess. As even Hilary and Obama said, give him a chance. Throughout history our political pendulum swings both ways. It will continue to do so. Ride the ride and stop whining!

      • David

Why do we have to “fry any fish”, we don’t.
Hilary and Obama were just being presidential, you know respectful and adult like when they said give him a chance. If you ask me giving trump a chance is like looking down the wrong end of a gun, pulling the trigger and waiting to see if you get shot.

  14. Colin

Well! America has spoken and we won. Only time will tell how this plays out. Time, and your input.
What do you believe in? Come, let us reason.

No, I don’t think moving to Canada is the option necessarily, unless you have a thing for northern climes & culture, Spruce beer, or perhaps there is a genuine alternative scenario that you ring to, like a lingering dream not yet followed. Whatever the reason, why flee? Don’t get me wrong, Canada is a great country, as are many others, but the US needs you just as much!

If you’re concerned about the newly elected, why don’t you find a way to pull together and reason with these people. Stomping off whilst complaining is one form of protest. How about expressing it another way? Get creative! Hello. Just stand up. If you can’t, raise your hand. You must believe in something that holds your ground, don’t you?
Let’s define what “gay” is (umbrella term, i.e. homo-, bisexual, trans, pan, queer, etc). Hey, maybe the Trumpeters know something that we’ve been blind to. And many of you would probably say the same of them.
Being gay is a blessing, but it is not perfection. It helps to have someone hold the mirror for you. We’re born to work out our differences. Being gay is, how do you say it? And it just takes a little understanding. Maybe these next four years (or eight) will allow for some of us to see eye to eye rather than give into to even more societal fracturing.

And lastly, America is rich in history! Even just only over 24 + two centuries + another sixteen years and look at what we’ve given the world. No, not perfection either. But what did we leave? You’re stronger than you realize! Don’t let your bullies win!

  15. Rick

Alexander told the straights “fortune favors the bold.” This advise remains the same so don’t fear a Trump presidency. You now have a chance against the muslims. A radical muslim wants your head choped a moderate muslim wants a radical muslim to chop your head off. Realize that this world has far greater dangers than a Trump presidency.

  16. Trust No-One

trump didn’t win NOTHING!, and trust me on this one!…he’s the biggest FAKE!, satan’s snake and lowest low-life in this universe, period!

with all those fixed results and the Voters amounts/numbers were changed by those hackers, via Russia’s intervening in our political system, i.e., things [ adding fake voters to the roasters “or” deleting some names; and voting for people/Voters who are well deceased, in jailed, and/or Voters can’t vote due to a felony status since the last elections! NEVER TRUST A LOW-LIFE SNAKE FROM THE BOWELS OF SATAN’S HELL, EVER!

BUT DON’T YOU WORRY, HE’LL GET WHAT’S COMING TO HIM…SOONER THAN LATER, BECAUSE GOD’S IN CONTROL OF THIS satan follower. This one [ Evil-Azz Thing ] is in the Bible that has the “mark of 666” under that FAKE hair-do, that would come to power before the end of man in this universe! so don’t worry none, let’s sit back and ride this bumpy-road out as long as we can take it, and see what this true satan-loser from hell in this life-time of ours is really up too. trust no evil-snake who combs his hair from the back of his of his head all to the way of his front of his head!; and then color’s it orange! [ go figure that ]. trump has always been one of the biggest con-artist in the history of all man-kind! satan “666” has come to power!

trust me, trump didn’t and/or haven’t paid no taxes, ever! but even the average American citizens with only a salary of $7,000.00 a year has to pay taxes. trump has made billions, and he seem to have never pay taxes of any kind. and those idiots people voted a total loser into office, who has offer the American people, NOTHING! That don’t say much our America!, or even do they care about this country with all these LOSERS voting for this thing like trump! 90% of Americans don’t care about no Candidate’s honest character nor his respect and/or integrity. And that University of his….FAKE!, just like him and his evading paying taxes! The Clinton’s paid millions and millions to the Federal and State tax agencies!

Besides, those who can afford to move, almost any other Country [ esp. Canada and Mexico ], on this planet will be glad to have any good American as it’s new Citizens!

Good-Luck on your new adventures!; live long, live true because God’s in control of everything always!

    peace out

    • Ben

He did win, and Clinton conceded. You have to accept that, otherwise you’re as bad as him when he said he wouldn’t accept the results of the election if he lost. Hippocritical of you.

  17. RoosterHoover

I’m not happy Trump won. I think his hot-headed rhetoric has already done a lot to hurt US relations with other countries – indications of markets falling a bit worldwide is not a coincidence. The US is not a physical or economic island, and we need other countries to trade with us if we want prosperity. I am hoping, however, now that the election is over that he will actually take his new role as President seriously and transition away from the over-the-top attention-grabbing projected persona we’ve been seeing so much of lately.

He’s clearly not an unintelligent man, being as successful as he is. If nothing else, he has the ability to recruit capable people and motivate them to make his businesses and other ventures successful. Being President in many ways is similar. The President has advisors, whose jobs it is to make sure he will have the information and advice he needs to make reasonable decisions – I suspect that he knows how to best leverage those kinds of resources. If he didn’t, I doubt he would be a multi-billionaire.

Now what he actually wants to try to change might be another story. Unfortunately, he might have interests in reverting laws that open up what I see as basic human freedoms. However, while will become a singularly very noteworthy and powerful political entity – he alone cannot rework the laws of this country. He can try, but unless enough others actually agree with him, it won’t happen. And right now, Trump isn’t going to help himself by trying to alienate Americans by calling out those he thinks deserve fewer rights and privileges than they have now.

So I agree to chill out, and let’s see what happens. No matter what he intends on changing, none of it will happen quickly or without resistance – even if is actually helpful – because he has ruffled a lot of feathers in getting to the Presidency, and he’ll accomplish nothing if he tries to run his office the way he ran his election.

  18. John Edwards

Heterosexual “Christian” white males won the day with their homophobia, Islamophobia, race phobia, and gynophobia. The parallels to Germany circa 1933 are pronounced. I live in California, and I am a staunch supporter of the secessionist proposal put forward by certain Silicon Valley executives. I no longer consider myself to be an “American.”

    • TiredOfIt

I appreciate the idea, but the reality is that secession is Constitutionally forbidden. Remember the Civil War? That was one of the outcomes no one seems to remember. Remember when “Guv’ner Goodhair” Perry started that shit down in Texas? He went away rather quickly, not just for that, of course…he was, and is, a complete moron, but he was proposing to take a state full of morons into secession. He was informed to fomenting secession of a US state or territory is treason, punishable by firing squad. He shut up after that.

  19. tennis32801

The result was a middle finger to all the absurd protests every other week, to all the Hollywood elitist who thinks they know how the average folk thinks, to all the easily offended hashtag, dramatic wussies generation, to the mainstream media who rather print some obscure social issues than national security, and to minority groups, including LGBT, who think they are the center of the world’s attention. And this coming from a gay minority.

    • Ben

I fully agree. Being called a racist or like Hitler without giving any reputable reason as to why you think so is not a good argument. That has been made clear.

  20. Ken

I doubt he’ll do anything against LGBT people. Don’t forget Obama defined marriage as one woman and one man until his wife convinced him otherwise

  21. anonimatovato

I personally think it be dumb and a big waste of time for republicans to push back gay rights, but then again, it’s republicans, so yeah.

Pushing gay issues aside, even though I’m an American born citizen with latino background, I do feel for the people without a voice, the ones that are working hard trying to gain citizenship. I worry about how my current health plan might make ‘changes’ because he’s elected. What about social security? Food stamps for those in need? It’s very easy to say screw all that, but you have to think how it’ll effect people already subscribed in those programs. It’s not a one size fits all situation.

Plus this country is in hate, scared, sad, depressed mode right now. Half the country really hates this Trump guy and the things he said will get us in trouble in no time, if not already.

  22. TiredOfIt

TQ is an outlier, and will have to accept the consequences of his right wing actions. Enjoy your “conversion therapy,” TQ! I’m an amateur at statistical analysis of polling data, and my results called the ’08 and ’12 elections right on the nose. NONE of me predictions panned out this cycle, not even CLOSE. Why? The data was corrupted. The Trump clowns first had a “don’t talk to pollsters”, then a “tell pollsters you’re voting for Hillary” scam going on, which completely screwed the data in many states by as much as 5 points toward Clinton in the last month of the cycle. This came from Breitbart, the right-wing foamer’s organ on the ‘net that took over Frumpy’s campaign. This will now become standard equipment for the right wing; scientific polling will be meaningless with that in play. Other factors: Blacks stayed home (15-18% compared to ’08 and ’12), Latinos voted for Trump 1 in 5, 1 in 4 in FL, and the Millennial Berniebots stayed HOME whining and are now are hitting the streets and they didn’t even VOTE. Crybabies…don’t vote? STAY HOME IN MOM’S BASEMENT! We could’ve won this thing…IF the stakeholders HAD JUST SHOWN UP AND VOTED. Now, they’re going to get all they deserve. By the way….Clinton is now leading the national popular vote by 350K. Frump has NO mandate.

what did Obama do that was good? Obamacare=failure, illegal immigrants getting free healthcare and Social Security without ever having paid into the system=failure. the national debt has increased more than under all presidents combined, so what do you see as being positive about that?

  24. Matt

I hope this get printed because as a proud african American I’m sick of misinformed idiots like T Q talking about our President. He inherited a messed economy with car dealers going out of business, banks closing and two freakin wars started by Mr. Bush… He did a fantastic job to get america back on its feet…..I know this is suppose to be about Trump and LGBT but I had to voice my opinion because I’m sick of people bad mouthing my president just because he’s black. That is fucked up in 2016. TQ you know dam well you personally is doing better financially now than you was in 2008. President Obama will never get the credit he deserves because racist people are scare we might get another black one in the white house….Donald Trump will be my president in January and I will respect him and always refer to him as President Trump. LGBT community, you have nothing to worry about. Trust me. He will work his ass off as President of all America.

  25. Rich

Thank God that this community is not monolithic! May our 45th President be successful in uniting the country, and returning the USA to the beacon of light that she should be worldwide.

  26. Brad

Go to Canada if you want, but I seriously doubt very many people will bother with that much upheaval in their lives over who happens to be in the White House for the next few (or even several) years. Sure I would have preferred Clinton but Trump’s focus is going to be on the economy, jobs, trade, international relations, infrastructure, immigration and re-reforming healthcare. Furthermore as a political outsider he will be spending more time and energy than most just trying to feel his way through the system in Washington and navigate through all the deeply entrenched private circles and special interest groups, in addition to having to battle both old-school Republicans with more conservative views, libertarians, independents, and quite a few remaining Democrats and liberals. I don’t see him really having the time, focus or interest in trying to reverse recent gains made on LGBT issues. I think the worst problems we face as a community in this country are social at this point, not political. We should be far more concerned with issues like internalized homophobia from within our own ranks than losing gay marriage. I honestly couldn’t give a hoot about gay marriage myself because I see it as us just trying to “fit the straight mold” frankly and actually have seen a huge increase in resistance to “relationships” on gay dating sites and apps since marriage became a real possibility and now a reality. How’s about we deal with all the “straight” guy bullsh*t and self hate that’s rampant on our sites and have a return to real relationships even being desirable in the gay world anymore instead of quickie hookups and “FWB’s” being the status-quo before we go imagining Trump with a sickle rampaging through the streets of San Francisco?!?

    • Ben

No it’s people like you that are harmful to the community, in thinking that every gay person has to vote the same way. There are other more important issues than gay marriage.

      • Fuck off and die!

Bitch… Did I say anything about gay marriage!? No! I didn’t? I’m taking about the hate he incites in straight homophobes and racist xenophobes! They’ve already started their hateful tirade of anarchy! Have you been paying attention!? Swastikas, physical assaults, hate crimes…are happening at an accelerated rate already! You’re a fucken idiot! Trump loving dick munch! Go fuck yourself! You’re a ridiculous little man!

  27. Wayne

I see white america is still searching for the good ole days of suppression and discrimination. To the clown who think minority use government programs the most had better go read up because whites are it’s biggest users… especially in the south. Enjoy your president.

  28. robert sablan

legally married in hawaii in 2014 following the supreme court ruling recognizing same sex marriage on a federal level, concerned that everything now will be rescinded after 18 years of patiently waiting & advocating for equity and two short years of us celebrating it finally coming to fruition. we are heart broken knowing the attack against us is coming soon and once the current laws are repealed by the in coming administration what will happen?

Civil rights and equity will be denied by the far right christian coalitions which are the republicans who are coming in to office.

Tahiti may be our out in the event we’re no longer safe our welcome in America.

In utter dismay, shocked, deeply concerned and at a loss as of this election.

  29. Don Shaver

In my opinion, those who only choose a president based on the criteria of who will be best for the LGBT community are being superficial and selfish. What about supporting a candidate who will be best for ALL people and for ALL of America.

    • anonimatovato

We are part of ALL people of America. Every American should have the same rights, not some. Trust me, me, latino, as a minority, we are choosing candidates beyond LBGTQ, because we also have other additional rights to worry about besides LGBTQ.

Let’s see what you’ll all say when you don’t have have a right to work if you’re out, or being denied getting married for just being who you are and love. These bad decisions that the republican party wants to imply will cost us dearly.

Oh, and let’s not even get started with bathroom laws. Welcome to the Bible belt America! Many escaped the south, and now it’s gonna be slapped in our face for 4 years.

What I think about all this, having Trump as president,
like Tyra Banks said ‘You can kiss my fucking fat ass!!’

    • TiredOfIt

That sure as HELL isn’t Frump. Donald the Frump doesn’t give a SHIT about you, or anyone else…only himself. Why’d he run for this? He wants “executive clemency” from all the lawsuits coming his way….but too late on the Frump U. mess…he’s due in Federal Court for the Lower District of New York on Dec. 19. Then there’s this issue of him passing the Electoral College, and a little bird told me that there could be an insurrection there. “ALL of America?” Are you serious, or are you one of those shills sent by Breitbart to infiltrate the LGBT community? Yes, we know about you.

  30. okzebra

Well, we’ll always have Peter Thiel that compassionate and generous gay man won’t we, the man outed by Gawker? Now that he’s finished bankrolling the defamation lawsuit that put Gawker into bankruptcy, he’ll move onto the Groper-in-Chief’s cabinet. With any luck, he might get groped by the Chief Groper or one of men in leather and uniform boots he apparently enjoys. We’ll see.

  31. Juan

I have met Mr Trump in person a few times and am friends with one of his siblings and can attest that he has absolutely no ill will towards gays. He is actually a really nice guy. He is definitely an outspoken man and God knows the media has certainly sensationalized and taken out of context everything he has said. But I think the whole world will be pleasantly surprised once he is in office. And by the way, I’m 100% Latino and voted for him.

    • Ben

Wow, it’s so interesting to hear from someone closer to Trump than most people have ever been. And I agree with you, he supports traditional marriage but has no problem with gay people like I feel that many of the other Republican candidates do. That’s why I supported him from the beginning.

  32. versabottom4top

Having read through most of these responses, I see the stereotypical queers from the LGBTQRSTUXVZetc. are busily chanting their pablum and whining over their losses. As a guy who chose to be gay because I like dicks more than pussy, I must say, most gay guys are just like women: If it weren’t for their sexual value, there would rightly be a bounty on their heads.

  33. Hunter0500

With support for gays at an all time high among even my most Conservative Republican friends, family members, coworkers, etc., there is no way President Elect Trump will do anything to take away gay rights. He has too much to lose from those people and the gays who voted for him.

What I hear from my most Liberal Democrat friends, family, members, coworkers, etc., is the promotion of fear, hate, and division when it comes to the topic of gays under the new Adminstration.

It’s time for gays to stop being, or letting themselves, be made victims.

  34. Jerry

TRUMP won because the masses HATE the political elitists, Wall St., bank, Saudi run SHillary, the US Media Propaganda machine, the violence against all humanity, Corps. moving out of our great country (thanks to SHillary).
    DO YOUR RESEARCH!
I’ve worked with Border Patrol, ICE, US Customs, and DHS.
The criminals and drug cartel are flooding through our borders. When detained, the US tries to deport, but Mexico denies them and we’re footing the bill to house and then eventually release them back onto the streets; and the cycle continues!

Donald Trump is a moderate, former Democrat, with MANY gay friends so stop crying about being interned into concentrations camps…smh…
The switch to R was to get the conservative vote.

I am a PROUD Conservative Gay man living with AIDS for over 30 years and I have seen so much mis-information it sickens me.

Let’s move on, UNITE, and grow some balls, as One Nation Under God for ALL people…

Peace and Love to ALL God’s children… xoxoxoxo

  35. Wmijackhammer

Wow, the ignorance here is astounding. You have the most gay friendly president since Millard Filmore and a bunch of queens act like they are going to get stoned to death. As has been mentioned, if they thought with something other than their dick head, they would realize the Muslim population that Hillary wanted to let in by the ten of thousands kills gay people for entertainment. Didn’t hear old Hildebeast say anything about protecting you from that special little group did you? Use your heads, look at Trump’s past, and realize you have a friend in the White House. Acting like a bunch of low information drama queens is not very becoming.

    • TiredOfIt

Millard Fillmore is widely considered to be one of our three WORST presidents, and his “know-nothings” in Congress caused great harm to the country. Remember Fillmore’s pro-slavery stance? Now you’ve been outted, Bretibarters….back in your cave.

      • Wmijackhammer

Tired, maybe English isn’t your strength but I didn’t say anything about the policy of Fillmore, I said we now have a president who is more gay friendly than any SINCE Fillmore. It takes quite a fool to ignore 69 years of Trump’s past being friendly with and supportive of gay people. As usual, the drama and crying here has no basis in reality and is definitely not in the best interest of the country. Just because you sleep with other guys doesn’t mean you commit your life to the fallacy that you are somehow deeded to the democrat party. Luckily it looks like 20+% of us can think with more than just our dicks and have chosen a brighter future for all American citizens.
