Holidays : Reading Recommendations – Part 1

I’m curious as to who among us here at A4A reads gay romance, or writes, for that matter. I do. Read, I mean. If you don’t and if you are planning on trying to read sometime soon, or if you do and you’re looking for new reads, we have compiled a few MM romance authors whose books we think are a must-read!

  1. Josh Lanyon

This author is famous for her Adrien English Mystery and Holmes and Moriarity series. Her specialty is mystery-suspense but her works have a touch of romance not to mention that her characters are quirky, funny as hell, and relatable. Josh has a way with words, too.

My favorites among her works include Perfect Day, a short story about Wyatt who is in love with Graham who happens to be still in love with Jase. Complicated, I know. I also love her Holmes and Moriarity series very much. It’s about Kit Holmes and his knack for stumbling over dead bodies while playing house with his lover J.X.

2. Tal Bauer

Tal Bauer is a new author. If you’re into reading about the military/law enforcement with a touch of romance and action then this author is the one to read. I’ve only ever read Tal’s Enemies of the State but it’s enough to convince me to read more of this author’s works in the future. The aforementioned book’s second installment Enemy of My Enemy is waiting for me in my Kindle.

3. A.F. Henley

This Canadian author has the ability to make me cry. He writes contemporary romance and paranormal so if you love those genres, you may want to check his works. My favorites among his works include The Chase and the Catch, Baby’s on Fire, and his Wolf series.

4. C.S. Pacat

C.S. Pacat‘s Captive Prince series is epic; granted I have yet to read the third and final book Kings Rising but what I’ve read so far, I loved. Captive Prince is about the fall of Damen, the crown prince of Akielos—and his subsequent rise to power. If you’re into political intrigue and fantasy this series is for you.

5. J.L. Merrow

British author J.L. Merrow writes funny British characters. My favorites among her works include Muscling Through and The Plumber’s Mate series so if you’re into plumbers, fantasy, mystery and crime and would like to have a few good laughs, go and try reading her works.

6. Megan Derr

Megan is the one who got me into reading MM romance. You could never go wrong with her; pick up any book she wrote and you’ll love it. She writes mostly paranormal and fantasy stuff and my most favorites include the Black Magic series (a war between paladins and demons spanning centuries) and Princes of the Blood series (the story revolves around an ancient war as well with dragoons, shadowmarch, sorcerers, titans among others in the mix).

7. Elliot Cooper

Elliot Cooper is a newcomer but color me impressed. He can say so much with so few words and can pack everything within a short story: action, romance, suspense, fantasy, and magic. I’ve only ever read two of his works (Junk Mage and The Clockwork Menagerie) but it’s enough to convince me that this guy is a good read. His new book My Boyfriend’s Back is sitting on my Kindle and I can’t wait to read it.

I’m pretty sure I missed a lot of awesome authors out there so watch out for the second installment of this article. For now, happy reading and have a nice weekend.

I’m an avid reader of gay romance and gay erotica. I sometimes get advanced copies from some others I follow to read before they are released to read and write a review for on Amazon and other sites. Some of the authors I’d suggest you find is Kaje Harper (her “Life Lessons” series is amazing), Teodora Kostova, LA Witt, and Chad Allen just to name a few.

Find me on goodreads at https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/8772015-jason-collett and you can see some of the books I’ve read as I log every book I read on there and see some of the authors I read books from. 🙂

The archival website for erotic stores, established in 1992 with now over 235,000 stories, is http://www.nifty.org. There are many, many fine, well-written and well-plotted stories from the short story to novel-length pieces of every sort.
