Movies : Pyotr495

“Set one evening in present-day Moscow, 16 year-old Pyotr is baited by an ultranationalist group known for their violent abductions and attacks bolstered by Russia’s LGBT propaganda law, but Pyotr has a dangerous secret his attackers could never have accounted for…”

PYOTR495 is a short film set in Russia in the year 2014. The country has invaded the Crimea region of the Ukraine, the newly instated LGBT propaganda law makes it illegal to present gay life as normal, while Russian President Vladimir Putin’s approval rating is at a 6 year high. The movie begins in the run-down, white Soviet-era tower blocks in the Cheryomushki district of Moscow, and follow the main character, Pyotr, as he leaves his friends and ventures out into the night on his scooter and under the passing lights of the city streets as he is baited into a dangerous scenario at the sprawling apartment of a member of one of Moscow’s financial elite.

The movie mixes the classic tropes of the horror genre with the topic of repression and violence towards LGBT people, in an effort to provoke thought and discussion around social anxieties towards the state of gay rights. After all – what’s most terrifying? Some blood and gore? Or the hatred and lack of acceptance in our society in 2015?
Although PYOTR495 have completed prinicpal photography on the film, there is still far to go before they can complete this film! Making a film is expensive. Here is where you can be involved! The team of the film created an Indiegogo page to raise money to complete the film. If you believe in the project, feel free to help them out to complete this chef-d’oeuvre.

Check out their page here, read about it and if you can, send them love!

Yeah, you lost me on the Ukraine thing since Crimea lawfully seceded from Ukraine and held elections to become part of Russia. Plus this is totally a propoganda film by butthurt activists. Since the anti propoganda law passed anti gay hate crimes have gone down by a shocking amount. And considering the Russians have a history of banning the public display of alot of things that carry propoganda, most notably Christianity back in the 70’s, its just childish to say they are being anti-gay or bigoted because they did something you don’t like.
Now in Western Ukraine gays are being killed and assaulted in the streets. They are free to say what they want but they are being killed for it. Gues Guess the Russians were right to pass that law cause this movie is proof the gay community does produce propoganda. And honestly as a gay man, I’d rather live in country where I can’t shove my sexuality down other peoples throats but I’ll also be less likely to be killed for it than in the country where they say I can be open about it but if I am I’ll get killed by a bunch of ultra nationalists our friend Obama has spent US dollars and manpower to train and support.
