Once again I’m a disappointed that after my blog about RESPECT and code of conduct on the blog, I still can read many comments that are inadequate. I had to delete approximatively 20 comments and more than half of the comments here are from people hating on the Billy, the winner or A4A.

Maybe we need to take a step back and look at the messages. From a Learning Experience standpoint, the site managers have now heard that:
– A number of members seemed to think Billy and Christian were just not so hot. That’s not surprising. Men come in all kinds of varieties and also have varieties in tastes for men. “Hot” for some is “Not” for others.
– Some members said Billy and Christian are “primped, preened and practically perfect” (let’s call it “P3”) gay guys … about which more and more members are posting that those aren’t the guys they see in profiles, at the gas station, in their beds, etc. Yet this “contest” and photos on the site depict only guys of the P3 variety. Not realistic enough for many guys, it seems.
– Many members weren’t impressed with this “contest” and A4A’s decision to include it on the site. Hey, there’s an understanding for the need for advertising revenue, but …
For me personally:
– This behavior is exactly they type that keeps gays from earning the respect so many of them claim they deserve. “Attention whore” behavior isn’t attractive. When a gay guy is referred to as such, is it a compliment? No.
– I’m not a porn fan. One of the guys caught my eye; the other for totally sure not at all. So therefore the still photos shown about the video for me were not enticing, not even $1.12 enticing.
– Framing the “contest” in a porn setting was over the top (not in a good way). This type behavior and the “contest’ do more to harm “the Cause for Equality!” than help.
So from a Learning Experience, what is the site going to do going forward?
Hunter: Nothing. Their site is doing very well. Even if you and others criticized it, it’s one of the most successful scene so far and was seen thousands of people who paid to watch it, because yes, we need to pay for their work. Yes, their work. There’s camera guy, producers, distributers, models that they have to pay. If you like porn and respect their work, you will pay. Now if you don’t like the models they chose, simply don’t watch it, no need to hate and write a novel about it.
Some guys said that they were not into porn or not into these models, and it’s ok.

What I find interesting is that the “contest” was open to any and everyone who wanted to apply and possibly live out their fantasy of making porn with one of their favorite porn stars, but judging from the number of negative responses one would think these same Negative Nellies applied but were rejected by GAYROOM! In my post in particular I was not bashing Christian only simply saying in regards to the post about nobody wanting to watch “average” guys doing porn that I in fact would.
