Music : Jennifer Hudson Sings About Gay Love

hudson1

Jennifer Hudson just released her new music video for I Still Love You with a poignant message on same-sex marriage. The Oscar winner (who looks like our dear Whitney in her short hair era) totally shows her support to the gay community and marriage equality with this video.

The video shows a gay man calling his father and asking him to come to his wedding, the dad doesn’t answer the phone but hear the call from his answering machine. Then you see the happy couple preparing for the wedding, while the father struggles to decide whether or not he should attend the ceremony.

At the end, after the the couple says I do, the father shows up with a smile and hugs them both. And guess what? Yes, I cried again! I can’t hold my tears when I see gay love!

You’ll like the song, it is soft and dancey and will surely make you move in clubs this summer!

Check out the video below!

J Hud has a for sure dance floor hit for this summer. Great beat. Kudos for addressing this issue. The video is just a bit campy. Are the children still voughing ?

Well here we go again. All gay men are to be young, handsome, tolerant and affluent. No exceptions. Another celebrity doing whatever it takes to shovel more money into their coffers. Shovel is right. And gay men as always falls for it. Never fails to amaze me.

But where were the puppies, butterflies, unicorns, and rainbows. Everybody knows when a diva sings about the fabulous wedding of two picture perfect gay guys that takes place at an exotic location with all the glamorous trimmings and guests that there really really should always be puppies, butterflies, unicorns, and rainbows! (At minimum some combination thereof!)

Geesch people! These kind of weddings take place every day. Please going forward have some basic sense of standards! Thank you.

Loved it ! I hope she truly believes in this and not using the issue as a marketing ploy for herself. Jennifer Hudson is no newbie to the scene at all so she wouldn’t need a marketing ploy, but I cannot deny that this song made me want to support her more and check out all her other stuff, so obviously I hope that her sentiments are genuine so that my sentiments would genuine as well. 🙂

The hair, the vibe of the song, definitely hints and a tip of the hat to the amazing Whitney Huston (Rest in peace!)

Dave, don’t cry ! *hugs* You seem like a nice guy, and you’re incredibly good looking so I see no reason why you wouldn’t be able to have that in your life. Even though sometimes I do not like exhibitionist Dave and would love to see more classy dressed and studly handsome Dave (at the end of the day, to each their own, and nothing wrong with a little bit of exhibitionism 😉 ), I think you’re a cool guy. Again, not dissing you, but I would love to see smiley face Dave in a suit or a T…we rarely see your face staring at the cam and I wanna see smiley Dave with pearl white teeth and cheeky grin smiling at the camera

Shades : Thanks for the compliment man! But it’s not my fault if I cry, my eyes cry by themselves and I try not to…

I’ve always loved you. Thanks for your support on 3 issue. Acceptance equality and interracial love. Snaps Jennifer.

As we get older, we come to realize that unconditional ove is all that matters.
No maths here. Father realized that acknowledging his son’s choice doesn’t take away from his .

To those of you questioning Jennifer’s motives, it’s not secret that one of her best friend’s is gay. She’s using her platform to help our agenda. What’s interesting in the video to me, is the acceptance of the black father. My dad is accepting of my lifestyle, but I have many black friends who aren’t so fortunate.

I know what you mean, Dave ! I cried too when I watch this and I cry when I watch things gay related and it’s all good. I just thought I’d tell you that because of several comments you made in several of your blog posts, how you would like that, so yeah…. 🙂

I’m amazed at the judgmental comments from the above people whom have no real idea of what J-Hud truly feels? Come on guys…… quite hating and respect others! We wonder why so much hate is in this world, it stems from immediate reactions like these that fuels the fire bigger!

There is no such thing as gay love, only lust in disguise. And how did I know the guy calling his father would be white and the significant other would be black? Typical, predictable, nonsense.

Ummmmm, the song isn’t about gay love, the video is. If you close your eyes and listen it just sounds like something Diana ross would’ve passed on 35 years ago.

JoeyToronto: Erm, I didn’t see them twerk and dance on a stripping pole. I thought the part where they were dancing in the bath robes was good. That was hardly professional, diva, look at me am a professional dancer dance. So are you incapable of shaking your ass a bit ? You don’t need to dance salsa or rumba to be dancing. Shaking your shoulders to some rhythm qualifies as dancing.

    And feminine ? I don’t even….where were they being feminine ?

I don’t think these guys are necessarily “hot” or anything. They just look happy. It’s kind of camp but a lot of gay friend circles are like this. I’m glad the dad showed up, that was very sweet. I didn’t cry but I felt kind of fuzzy 🙂

Oh Dave, tears of joy, the best! You above mentioned
haters are why there are bashers…within our own com-
munity. Let “piss elegant” pass ALREADY. Gay San Franciscan of 61

How many of you remember when Jennifer Hudson got “voted off” American Idol? Her spectacular voice outclassed whoever else was on that season, so it was obvious to me that the show was scripted and masquerading as a reality show. Disgusted, I turned it off and haven’t watched Idol since. I remember thinking at the time, “Inside this chunky girl with a powerful voice is a stunning goddess who could join the royal court of divas such as Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Patti Labelle and Whitney Houston.”

I was right. But I underestimated the breadth of her talent and the degree of her transformation into an astonishing beauty, all while enduring personal tragedy and difficult setbacks.

If you are suspicious of Jennifer’s motives for releasing this commercially viable song with an important message, perhaps it is you who are shallow, and not Ms. Hudson.

A song..though I am sure heartfelt by Jennifer..does not resolve the complexities that exist. It’s just a fun acceptance song for gays to dance to in the clubs and claim naively as a victory. seen this for years..very sterotypical. Her views are genuine I’m sure…but really this is for a feel good…that is all that it does. Also…all perfectly attractive modelesque people in t his video which is not the representation of the 90 % or more that do not fall into this category. That is the problem I have with this video.

Whenever a singer puts out a gay friendly video I tend to question the motivation, but this one feels genuine. Glad to see another romantic, gay positive image/video out there in the world.

When I was in college I did a presentation about gay images in the media and at that time all I could find that wasn’t overtly sexual was gay cruise ads. Great to see how far things have come in the last 20 years.

    Kudos to Jennifer Hudson 🙂

TO “”TIM”” above, who says there is no such thing as gay love,TRAGIC,SAD,ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING!!!,yes the “”gay culture” has since my day 71-82,when I went out,was part of “the gay culture” I see where maybe someone becomes jaded, and revolted by the falseness, the shallowness, and crude overt sexual exploitation, and mind numbing “clones”,and “‘sex is all there is” mentality.TO YOU TIM,I PRAY YOUR VERY YOUNG,AND WILL OVERCOME THIS,THE PLASTIC WORLD OF GAYS NOW, AS WE CALLED IT THEN ”PLASTIC”,but I have had three decade long wonderfull lovermen in my life, and it has NOT A GODDAM THING ,OR AS IT WAS FOR ME WITH “”TYPE””,OR PHYSICAL ANYTHING AT ALL,IT’S INNER,LONG TERM AND MAGICAL.don’t fall for the false, shallow silly world that engulfs so many gay men,to me ‘”they”‘ will always be there, judging, snipping, sniding, snarking, forever more.THERE LIES OUR TRADGEDY,THE ENORMOUS “”PHYSICAL”” GAY WORLD VS.THE TRUE REAL WORLD OF A MAN LOVING A MAN,WOMAN LOVING A WOMAN COMPLETELY.
