Fashion : Will You Boycott Dolce & Gabbana?

Dolce-and-Gabbana-closed-shops-in-Milan-for-protest-read-their-official-statement

Sir Elton John and Courtney Love are among the celebrities who are mad at comments made by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. In an interview with Italian news magazine Panorama, the duo, who broke up after a long relationship in 2005, strongly spoke out against same-sex parents!

“We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed,” they are quoted as stating. Dolce went on to add that children born via egg donors or artificial insemination are “children of chemistry, synthetic children”, adding: “Uteri [for] rent, semen chosen from a catlogue”. Gabbana concluded: “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.”

Reacting to the news, Sir Elton called for a Dolce and Gabbana boycott, writing:

“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as synthetic. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana”

Gabbana responded directly on Sir Elton’s Instagram post, branding him a “fascist”, adding a hashtag to boycott the father of two.

EJ

Courtney Love said :

“I just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana items and want to burn them. I’m just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&G”

Dolce and Gabbana have come under fire in a row over gay adoption – despite posing for a ‘family photograph’ on the front cover of Vanity Fair back in 2005. The designers huddled with four children in 2005 as Gabbana spoke about his desire to become a father.

MAIN-dolce-gabbana

My opinion is that they are hypocrites and needed a bit of publicity as they had to pay 343.3 million Euros to Italian Government in fines and restitution.

#BoycottD&G and #BoycottDolceGabbana are the hashtags of the day!

oh please. everyone is entitled to his own view and opinion. I thought we gays were all about inclusion, and diversity. perhaps that only applies to people that agree with you? anyway, my current clothes shopping habits are unchanged by this.

  2. Jose

yes boycott the bitter, and miserable half wits. I will never buy anything else from them. I broke 3 of my D&G watches with a hammer!

  3. Kevin

Post modernist geeks. Children couldn’t care less if they are hatched from an egg or from a test tube or from a womb. They couldn’t care less if their parents are gay. They are only concerned with being loved and taken care of.
I’m gay. I have two children. I know what I’m talking about. These two idiots don’t have a clue.

  4. Philip

It’s really a sad world we live in when there are many children in need of a family and then you have some over priced clothiers opening up their pothole and slamming gay people for wanting to have children. At the end do the day, let’s let people lead their own lives, let the chips fall where they may. Family has such a different meaning now a days and who fucking cares how someone tries to define what family is to them. In regards to boycotting Dolce, I am not, nor have never been a fan of buying an over priced garment that I can find the same item somewhere else for a lower price.

  5. djross

just the typical rich gay men who are delusional about what they want never buy there clothes anyway. so yes boycott them they might be the Republicans in disguise

  6. Roots

There they go again. Putting there opinion on the way other people should live. Stay out of my life stay out of my bedroom. I would never have bought your crap in the first place. Designer crap always falls apart.
What is the difference between you two and your comments and some religious fanatic?

  7. Tall_btm

Well, I don’t wear their fashions, so I would not be able to boycott them directly. However, I would recommend a stronger approach regarding throwing away their cloths, rip them up and mail it back to Dolce & Gabbano. Yes, it may cost some money to mail them, but it would certainly put the objections in their face where they will not so easily ignore it (throw in some KMart clothing just to give the impression that their clothing is similar).

  8. Aaron

I’m participating in this boycott on the pretense that I can’t afford their shoes and clothes and usually buy other designer fragrances. I love it when people are hypocrites. I’m going to get some popcorn and watch this shit show, but I’m definitely Team Elton on this one haha.

  9. Efftee

I honestly don’t care what they have to say. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I’m entitled to ignore them. Besides, I’m a Levi’s and t-shirt kind of guy.

  10. UT

Enough with boycotting. Enough with the outrage. Enough with being offended. People are entitled to their opinions. If you don’t agree with it fine, just move on. I kind of agree with them. The best family is a mother and a father in a stable household. Oh no….boycott me because I have an opinion that differs from yours (even though it has absolutely zero impact on your life). Ridiculous.

  11. Joe

they were not preaching hate, it is how they see it AS GAY MEN! My goodness we need to find better reasons to boycott. I dont agree but that is it.

  12. HunterL

    Nonsensical through and through.
Perhaps I am not your ‘typical’ guy here; but I DO NOT own any Dolce and Gabanna, nor do I know anything about them .. are they gay? Did they create sham marriages so they can cast aspersions about fellows gays? Who knows, who cares? Tell them they are out of line, or boycott their brand; but the battle cries and “one upsman” tweeting, wreak of five year olds on the play ground screaming ‘I’ll take my ball and go home’ … (please take it)
Let’s all learn to call people directly out —
Dear. Mr. Gabbana, I found it incredibly insensitive you made statements about my chosen life path, had you stopped to consider the following [insert lists of concerns here]. –Dear Elton, had you stopped to consider contacting me before you tried to create a media frenzy over my personal opinion? … don’t you get it? We are just pawns in the lives of rich people, but name calling, threats of boycotts, and piling on insults should always be a last resort.
While I was struggling with the issue of my own sexuality, one of my good friends was incredibly insensitive and EXTREMELY verbally homophobic. While I tried to take stands and show him just how ugly he sounded when he ranted, I had totally missed WHY he was ranting. Years later, it turned out my friend had his own struggles, and in an attempt to deny his own sexuality and make sure no one found out he was gay, he internalized and assimilated that hatred. Today, whenever someone is incredibly outspoken about “The GAYS” trust where my mind goes, LOL! Elton John is no more a facist than any other rich, old, opinionated fart, who wants the world to line up behind his own strongly held opinions. Just as a Gabbana; who might be shamed silent by E. John into secretly believing traditional values are best, isn’t going to make me happier, because now his ‘opinion change’ is based on economic concerns and not a growth mindset. Pity these closet cases, and try to improve our own lives by being the best direct MEN we can be. Be well my brothers! -H

  13. Rorry

Not every gay person feels that we as gay men or women should raise children. I personally see both sides of the story and don’t think that Dolce and Gabanna should be boycotted for what is their right under freedom of speech.

    • blog

Funny how you guys say something when it comes to “opinions” and the exact contrary when it’s about other opinions.
What if they had said ” I think black people should not vote” ….
You would all have jump on them and eat them alive!!
I will never have children. I know that. But I still support my gay people who want to have a family.
      That’s all!
      Dave

  14. Dsarano

No aspect of their opinions appear to be aimed at or have expressly called for discontinuing sales of their products to same sex consumers. Nor have they called for restraining the sale of sperm or the prohibition of same sex parrenting. As such, their opinions are tolerable and far less lethal than would be any action to implement what they think. Freedom of speech and thought not backed by or inciting of any real act is mere rhetoric and thereby boycott undeserving.

  15. joey

What people won’t say to get extra publicity to line there greedy pockets with the all might dollar. And we as a society believe everything they say, so who’s fault is it that such people have more money then brains.

  16. Peter

I say boycott all these high-end fashion people. They are some of the most judgeMENTAL people on the planet. We need to move past judging people on their size, looks and what they can afford to wear.. and knowing them from how they act and what they say! (ask any one of these morons to speak and they will soon say something dumb like this!)
Anyone who feels better about themselves while wearing someone else’s name on clothing they spent WAY too much on has bigger issues than worrying about gay people starting families! It will be REAL easy to boycott these two chumps, since I’ve never bought a single thing from them!

  17. Angel-Falls

Wait, I’m confused. They are gay and want to have children, but oppose gay couples from adopting or going the “synthetic” way in order to have families? Total hypocrites, if that’s the case.

I will allow, however, that I don’t completely disagree with their ideas about science intervening when it comes to creating life. I also tend to have a queasy feeling regarding science creating life. But I also recognize that these are my own personal feelings and that for many, like Sir Elton John’s family, the ability to have children, be it by scientific interventions, is nothing less than a miracle.

  18. David

Let them believe what they want to believe. I’m an atheist, I don’t biycitt every product or person who believes otherwise. Just don’t shove it down my throat. Yes I am gay. Yes my sister and her wife have 2 of the most beautiful children in the world that were conceived “artificially”. So D&G won’t have kids. They could adopt. Or rescue animals. As adults, they the right to choose.

  19. Enzo

I’d like to say I’m boycotting them except:

    1) I don’t care what they do or don’t believe

    2) I would never buy high-fashion brands in the first place.

    So … yes, but no.

    Enzo

  20. Zamboner

Gay men and Women come from traditional families, USUALLY. We are every bit a part of the traditional family. Most gay couples parent at a higher standard because they want to and they have too, to avoid ridicule.

  21. Purebalance

Oh here we go again. A4A blog bashing someone for having an opinion. I don’t own any D&G(not really my thing), but it’s funny how quickly we turn on our own for having an opinion. I really don’t care about gay marriage except when it comes to tax benefits etc. Civil unions were fine as long as they held the same rights as a marriage. Care to bash me now also?

  22. Steve

Who cares what they say. I sure don’t. My opinion is that if i like the clothes, I will still wear then if I could afford them.
Dave, are you going to boycott the scumbags?

  23. NslashA

For two gay men to make a statement like this is not only uncouf, but extremely offensive. Do you see scores of gay and/or lesbian couples adopting or going through all the trouble to get surrogate mothers or find just the right sperm donors just to have a child, but tire of it in a few months or the first year and hand them over to the state? If an epidemic of the one I previously described was happening, then yeah, start telling gay people that children aren’t pets or some other fad trend that you can just stick in the back of your closet or the goodwill donation box when it’s no longer trendy, but you aren’t seeing that happen. As it is, studies have found that gay parents typically make more responsible and engaged parents because they make the conscience decision to have children, their children are not unintentional products of sexual encounters and therefore their children are generally smarter, more well adjusted, tend to have more skills, and are more likely to be productive members of society. The one thing that they have no more likelyhood of being when they grow up than their counterparts is homosexual, because homosexual parents know what its like to have all of society tell you what you are supoosed to like, when they knew it was quite the opposite, they aren’t about to force anything on their kid, but just let them be the person they are.

I personally have no desire to have children, this may change, but this remark from D&G is just stupid and self-loathing and completely unneeded, we already get enough stupid bigoted crap from the religious right, we don’t need to sell each other out. If I owned anything D&G I would stop wearing it, since I don’t I’ll just never buy one of their products.

  24. ar scoot

they’re not allowed to have opinions because it hurts my feelings!!!

fuck off, let them have their opinion regardless of how retarded it is

  25. Brian

Who gives a fuck!!! I swear. Gay men come off looking like a bunch of pussies when someone in film or fashion farts the wrong way or upsets them and their liberal mindset. They clutch their pearls and go into a hissy fit. People have the right to say what they want regardless of how stupid it sounds. Dolce and Gabbana is SOOOOOOOOOOOO unimportant to me as a gay man, and their fashions are ugly and low class. Therefore, I am not bothered by this. My life goes on.

  26. Adopter

they are idiots! but i know many fundametally idiotic people. many i am sure i have slept with, let them feed me, let them entertain me, pay taxes or even govern me. so a big NO i will no boycott. ignorance is everywhere! but they can be geniuses in other areas. lets let them be

  27. darryl

Wow it’s pretty shocking to hear these two fashion icons say such horrible things. How misguided they are to assume that Surrogacy is wrong in any form. There are many families who are dong quite well, thank you very much. Theses two should only speak about their own situation, and not generalize about others. Sometimes keeping your opinions to yourself is best.

  28. justaguy

People need to move on, in my opinion. It’s their opinion and they are entitled to it. Nothing for me to boycott from them since I’m not an uppity homo who needs their stuff to feel accepted by other gay men. Just fine buying mostly non-brand clothes and couldn’t give 2 crap whether the people making them have an opinion I disagree with.

  29. renato

I am Italian; these nasty sissies have always been full of self-hate and a condescending attitude toward anyone not as “fabulous” as they think they are. It is a sham they’ve pulled on most people, especially non-Italians. Don’t be fooled: they think they are better than you by despising the creative, loving minds that gay people have finally been allowed to show and express to the world in familial terms. Shaming them will have no effect so just keep trying to put them out of business.

  30. DD

People are entitled to their opinions. Honestly I couldnt afford any of their stuff so I could give 2 shits and a fart about boycotting them.

  31. walter

Nothing that the gay community hasn’t heard before. Straight people say it all the time and people are entitled to their own opinion. I myself have a surrogate for my child that will be due around the end of October and its twins cause my husband sperm was also used, so I be a father even though I lost my husband but I have a little him that will remain me of him. I’m excited to be a dad and though I did it through artificial semantion they still my kids, cause there’s no way I could ever have sex with a woman.. Never slept with one and won’t sleep with one. “Pedro” does not get up for a woman at all. Family is what you make it whether natural, adopted, or even artificially..

  32. Pj

They sound like real stupid ignorant jerks. Who’d wear that tacky stuff anyway? I mean.. Seriously? Give me J. Crew or Thom Brown anyday. Boo-hiss on D&G. Tacky queens with tacky fashions.

  33. MistrFistr

Oh, heeeere we go AGAIN with the idiots in the gay community trying to be overtly politically correct! These guys’ opinion has merit…trust me, I’ve seen gay couples of BOTH sexes go to crap once kids were in the mix…it ain’t pretty. Yet, like with what I heard 30 years ago (“Oh, it’s OK…I’m a top, I can’t get AIDS” (derrrrrp)) it’s a clusterfuck of opinions based on PERSONAL WHIM! I blame the dykes…they’re the most bitchy, self-loathing, most self-serving group of people we have to deal with, and EVERYTHING has to be “politically correct” for THEM…to HELL with the guys, and ESPECIALLY the bi guys and girls. Hell, those bitches RUINED an ENTIRE CITY! Check out what they did to West Hollywood once all the guys started dying off. YYYYYYYYYYYYUCK! And, as usual, if they don’t get their way about some issue (usually one no one else give a shit about), LET’S BOYCOTT! But, to be truthful, a lot of the guys sure as hell aren’t much better, especially today. When you start hearing “politically correct” banter, it generally comes from “chronically STUPID!”

  34. bttmhntr

When I can afford their stuff like the rest of you privileged gay socialites (in about 10 yrs) then come and talk to me then we’ll decide!

  35. Hunter0500

Another couple of high profile gay guys bringing drama to the gay circus. All part of what keeps much of society from finding any motivation to offer respect for gays.

But every day, some people find a few more low profile ones who are actually pretty darned good sensible, respectful, hard-working folks.

    The beat goes on.

  36. Nsajc

They are absolutely right. It takes a man and a woman to make a baby. It should be a man, woman or both to raise one. A child should NEVER be raised by people/person(s) that base their lifestyle on a sexual preference. This is just asking for confusion and pschological instability. A child should NEVER be used as a pawn in an argument for sexual acceptance either. Either way, why should anyone boycott because of a designers’ opinion. T Hilfig and Ralph Lauren are well known as biggots and no one boycotts them. It’s time to get some priorities straight. The “gay community” really needs to stop all of these cries for attention. There are ACTUAL issues that are far more important!

  37. ISaidIt

@Blog If they had said “Black people should not vote” the only people who probably would be outraged are the people it affected. You know as well as I do that Black people are considered “low man on the totem pole” in the gay world so to speak. Everyone else would still buy their shit and go on about their lives because it doesn’t affect them.

  38. Austin

Your kidding right? So many unwanted children in the world?? Children have no choice…!!!!! You both being gay men knowing how unfair and unjust this world can be?? Oh but your rich now from money from gays that put you there….lol not me your overpriced pretentious queens….oh ah by the way what nature intended? well If that was the case you would not be here from what I hear nature did not intend us? we were a mistake ……lol so you and your clothes are a mistake…..!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. teej beck

I really wouldn’t normally add my two cents to a blog, truly I wouldn’t. Its rare that I’d even bother to read one on Adam but when the topic calls to boycott a business that is not only gay owned but is the source of income for 3150 and more employees, many which may have children of the natural, unnatural or supernatural variety… I felt maybe this occasion warrants a comment… the foursome featured in the blog, the hardly, formerly and barely relevant, respectively, clearly have time on their hands – clearly their brands are not the focus of their attention and maybe the public needs to divert focus from each of their brands and boycott the lot of them. But that would mean innocent hardworking people may lose their livelihoods… And over what? So Reggie Dwight you Geordie shyte, whered you get the stones to quiet anyone? Its just An Opinion. You are a silly ass who needs to lock your gob until Bernie pens something for you to hum.
While the opinion of the Italian duo was ridiculously unnecessary and the subject of family planning hardly a pressing concern of two uninvolved spinster seamstresses when they have Non synthetic actual naturally made employees to worry about. But it is their opinion and agree with it or not, how they feel and the right to share those opinions is a right that any advocate of free speech cannot call for retaliation or repression without being a hypocrite. And certainly any one so familiar with their own unpopular opinions being as offensive hurtful inconsiderate and unnecessary should get back to parenting Zak and Eli and minding Davids indiscretions.
The fashion fools and the melodramatic minstrel are both worthy of being boycotted banished and bullwhipped but
As for the Hole, shh!!! No one values your contributions on any subject. Just sit in the corner and wait for the Dealer and Reeper.

Quite frankly its the interviewer that should be boycotted. Why stir a pot? Why ask homosexual (some may call this unnatural and untraditional) former lovers in the garment and textile industry about gays adopting, options for infertile couples or opinions on what makes a family… Ask them about their continuing disappointing lines, ask them about tax evasion, or better yet just don’t ask em anything and go be a real journalist…

boycott Dave. Boycott stupidity and boycott the finger pointing, boycott hypocrisy and boycott the hash tagging inflammatory senseless media sensationalism of absolutely no merit. Don’t boycott gay business stop putting the queens and queers at odds. Try contributing something beneficial that adds to the community rather than every little snipe.

if you want to know what is worth blogging about write me .
… Or not but stop the shitslinging

    • blog

teej beck : I did not create the worldwide boycott going around DG’s “opinion” like u call it. If you are not aware, google dolce and gabbana and you will see that EVERYBODY on the planet don’t understand why the duo came out with such a crazy opinion. The whole Hollywood, all the journalists, fashion reporters etc. So if you think it is fine, well good for u keep on buying their stuff. But I don’t support stupid people, I dont support Saoudi Arabia who say that women’s can’t drive, vote or be in public without wearing their hijab, I dont support Iran who kills people for being gay, I don’t support Russia for accepting gays to be killed, I don’t support religions for not accepting different people or sexuality, I don’t accept countries with children slaves….and the list continues… Even though, all these are “opinions” like you say, but you know what? I don’t care about opinions when they affect freedom or peace or “mind-your-fucking-bizz” …
      That’s my 2 cents buddy!

  40. Jason

I will absolutely continue to buy D&G. Who cares what they said. It’s an opinion, we all have one. I don’t buy clothes based on the designers personal views.

  41. teej beck

And Dave you are not supporting those of us who are GAY PARENTS. You are damning individuals for their opinion because you disagree with how they feel. They, right or wrong, are as entitled to their opinions … BOYCOTT? FUCKING RIDICULOUSNESS! IN MY OPINION AS A PARENT OF TWO ADOPTED GIRLS AND A SURROGATED IVI CHERUB SENOReS DOLCE AND GABANNA MAY SUFFER FROM LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, LACK OF COOTHE AND QUITE FRANKLY THEY ARE NOT PRADA BUT IF THEY ARE DENIED THEIR OPINION SURELY YOU WILL TO BE DENIED YOURS. STOP SENSATIONALIZING AND STOP CALLING FOR BOYCOTTS AND START BEING THE communities inspiration not the communities powder keg

    • blog

Teej Beck : it’s not about opinion. Gays have come a long way since many years. The right to marry, the right to have kids etc…
Let’s not go back one century ago. You think black people want to be slaves again? Nah man… it’s a similar conversation.

  42. nike1974

Convictions can change you’re thoughts, and the nature of GOD and the universe has a way about connecting you to the truth””. I applauded them for connecting with they’re Creator !!
The universe though nature can only produce mankind though male and female’ we must face this truth !! The world would surely die without reproduction”” We are to love one another, however the natural use of our body is made to reproduce mankind””. This is the law of the universe and nature, which is GOD !!!

  43. Randy

why do we feel the need that just because someone has a view that we must boycott its just ridiculous ….. every person has their own values their own views their opinions that is what makes the world go around and is why we are what we are …. If everyone thought the same felt the same like the same how boring would we be

  44. thrifty queer

Im assuming the boycott will only apply to rich people lol ..i wouldn’t even know where to begin to look for d&g…I’m more of a levis and t shirt kinda feller

  45. Mistr Fistr

Geez…reading these harebrained responses just serves for fortify my opinion that “gay society” is cesspool material these days. Hardly ANY of these replies required the brains of an amoeba to write. This is why I don’t identify with the “gay movement” anymore. When I was into it, we DID things…REAL things…like Stonewall and fighting HIV. Now these dizzy queens (and their fucking irritating dyke pals) are just plain laughable. GO DOUCHE, you bitches! Obviously there’s something STEEEENKY up there! And NO, I do NOT buy or even like their goofy clothes, either. I just happen to believe their opinion has its validity, that’s all…something you goofs will NEVER understand. You’re as embarrassing to me as Al Sharp-less must be to Colin Powell.

  46. Bob

I don’t buy their crap and never would regardless of this but hope others that did won’t buy anymore. Their crap is over rated and I see alot of people wearing their products and say UGLY

  47. Bigdan

I will not bother as 1) I feel it is foolish to require them to justify my life. 2) I do not and will not own their clothing as they do not make my size and are not durable for my man lifestyle. 3) think they be a little too weird for me.

I hope they find clarity and some light in the future.

  48. GrouchyAboutBananas

Wait, gays can be opinionated bigots?
Unfortunately Dave, I HAVE read things like this on A4A:
“Asians shouldn’t contact me”, “Blacks need not apply”, and other racist, ageist, sexist, petty crap galore …
and my FAVORITE: The Adam4adam BLOCK —
No one has to DO something wrong, it’s just a pettier way of offending each other. Open mindedness should begin at HOME, how about fixing the A4A microcosm before we take on the world? There’s a topic for your blog, why the block, and why/how do you use it

  49. Del

D&G goods have never appealed to me. I have never purchased any of their goods, despite being able to afford them.

It is clear, D&G are not scientists. There has been and always will be wonderful gay and lesbian families.

All of a sudden, I’m feeling I just may buy Chick Fil A sandwich; …may not be all that bad.

I hope Gucci and Feragamo don’t start any crap; I like my shoes.

  50. Stewie_Griffon

People have the right to voice their own opinion. Freedom of speech.

This is simply a bitch fight between two queens. No different than two high school girls cyber bullying each other on social media. Both of them need to grow a pair, put on a pair of boxing gloves, & take it to the ring if they really want to brawl it out.

No need for boycotting. Just rich high school girl drama on a larger scale.

  51. Micah

Freedom of speech means that the government can’t censor or retaliate against your opinion. It does not mean other citizens lose the right to be offended. Anyone willing to commit to a statement in a public forum should expect to encounter criticism. Especially about sensitive topics like this. I think that they live in a bubble that they can’t see beyond. It doesn’t deserve financial ruin, but it does merit a wake up call.

  52. Thomas

I’ve been boycotting them forever. Don’t care to waste my money on overpriced items anyhow. I don’t mind those of you who can spend your money that way, happy for you to be blessed with a lifestyle that affords things like that. For me, I will buy good things at a reasonable price. Can’t pay 5-10 times normal price for clothing or goods. I try not to get my pants wadded up over some loudmouth celebrity like Kanye or D&G either. They just want free publicity as one other post suggested. Best publicity is bad sometimes.

  53. headsupguy

I suppose I’ve been “boycotting” D&G since the first day their stuff showed up on the market. I never want to wear anything that proclaims, “I am desperately trying to be cool,” especially when the quality and design of D&G goods are no better than others at half the price. Nor do I want to be associated with pretentious twenty-somethings who spend a week’s paycheck on a pair of jeans and are two months behind on their rent – or worse – live with their mommies. Learning that these guys are hypocrites just confirms that I was right to ignore them in the first place.

  54. howardangel

It’s just a business decision when they voiced their opinions against test tube babies for gay people. Im sure they want more people to buy their products and of course what is better than the majority of the human population, the heterosexuals. Perhaps we already made them so rich so that they can afford a luxury life, having too much free time to rethink about gay issues and forget about the regular gay folks struggle against all the everyday prejudice from trying to get married, getting job benefits or health insurance and inheritance from our partners if one happens to die . We should know better to not buying these over priced brand named apparels that have the same function as regular clothes with reasonable price tags. Dont give them too much power or money because their jobs are to provide us services not the other way around. Although I don’t want to have children, I still want to have the right to have kids someday so of course gay adoption and invitro fertilization are better be on my option list when i become a billionaire.

  55. Beef

They are entitled to say what they want. It makes NO difference in my day to day life. Besides, I only have a pair of D&G Riding Boots. So, all in all. I can walk all over them whenever I please. #whocares

    • blog

Robert : If you think that, well I don’t know what you are doing here. We do not tolerate racist like you, sorry, can u leave?

OK, you disagree with their position/opinion on a topic…is it possible to do so without “activism” or will you only be satisfied if the government bans or silences each and every person who voices an opinion different than yours? Where does your sense of entitlement come from and where does it stop? No one in this world owes you support for your opinion, lifestyle or whatever. All we owe each other is to allow each the freedom to safely voice ideas and opinions and the ability to live whatever lifestyle we choose. Is that not enough?

As much as you are for gays doing anything, each individual also has the right to have their own opinion on it, and yes it can be opposing yours. Inclusion means all, even those against you and tolerance as well…damn it.

  57. luis

I see that for gay people equality means think the same way i think or else….. what is the difference between a gay person and an homofphobic? Are gay people streighphobic then? Each person has the right to say and express his or hers oppinion. If you don’t like just don’t pay attention to it and keep with your life. We don’t have to insult each other live and let live.

  58. Tall_btm

In reviewing the comments, I must say that at first a bit of pride sneaked in to read comments that supported others having an opinion and should not be bashed for said opinion. But then you would have to realize that you just bashed someone for having an opinion about the article’s opinion (and it continues to go around) – funny really.

In a sense you are correct. We don’t need to be hurtful for others having an opinion. Responding intelligently would be most appropriate (meaning without emotion). But some things do hit a raw nerve and we then tend to lash out.

Boycotting is a peaceful demonstration to state that we don’t agree with something the company (or company owners) did or represent – it’s not bashing, it is freedom of choice. What we do and say helps develop or restrict or choice of freedom.

It is unfortunate when we take it too far to become hateful.

  59. i agree

My own family members had to resort to artificial insemination
because they just couldn’t get caught naturally, so not opposed to that, BUT, being gay comes with its sacrifices. No amount of cock to asshole is going to make a kid,so give up trying to be “normal” and do some big brother stuff, or contribute some spare time to an orphanage, but please get over the daddy and daddy thing, D $ G are right, its not natural.

How can we ask for equal rights while taking away a basic right of every American. Let them have their free speech. Let the rest of us enjoy our lives.

  61. kirt28202

Everyone has their own opinion, but I just bought some Dolce & Gabbana cologne and just love it. When I run out, I will buy more. Do what makes you happy and don’t worry about what someone else thinks.

  62. RearDriver

Dave! You just asked for everybody’s opinions, and now you shame “you guys” for expressing them, wtf! And by the way the rest if your comment made no sense! Regardless, here’s my opinion, there media whores! The lost a boat load of euros do too fines levied against them, and as they say even bad publicity is good publicity, there part of the growing 1% who have no idea how the rest of us live! will I boycott them? Why! I’ll never own any of there crap nor do wish to,and be certain very soon they, and the media will put a spin on it,and everyone will make nice!

reardriver: yes I ask for opinion, but don’t come up with opinion that religious old people have for fuck sakes. You guys are gay, not old homophobic priests.

  63. vafratboy

To all the people whining about how “they are entitled to their opinions,” I agree, but you know who else is entitled to an opinion? Me and you and everyone else. NOBODY here is suggesting that they be imprisoned or killed for their opinion, but choosing how to spend one’s money is VERY MUCH a form of free speech as well. If only you folks were so quick to support the rights of those people too.

Boycotts are not an assault on free speech. They are the epitome of it. Somewhere along the line this idea came in vogue that only people voicing “unpopular” opinions have the right to free speech. That’s just not true. EVERYBODY does. Boycotting a brand because you don’t like what they promote is NOT taking a way that brand’s right to an opinion, it’s simply exercising your right to an opposing one.

  64. mark6873

Boycott only, until I run out of Light Blue cologne. Hey its opinion. Are we now living in a world that if someone says something we are going to punish them for saying it. How sad in this world that we have come down to this I thought we lived in the U.S. that allows people to say something without this going on. How sad, Like anybody really cares What Elton John has done/

  65. Brad

I just looked up this story in the news and things, even at this early stage, aren’t looking good for D&G. A terribly STUPID thing to say, even if it is their opinion. Not only did they make the statements, but they posted what looks to be a D&G ad in which a woman stands with a child hugging her legs with the caption “Dolce & Gabanna #D&G familia”

Look it up, what you’ll find is even more disturbing than what this article mentions. Sure, people have their own opinions, but when you stand behind a well known brand, it isn’t a good business decision to sound your opinions so harshly and publically.

These two are entitled to their opinions, but they are idiots. They’ve managed to forever change the D&G image by running their dicksuckers. Brilliant.

  66. jay

people are entitled to their opinions. i myself think traditional families are better for raising a child. this has become a country of sameness and public shame. we don’t have to agree on EVERYTHING…

  67. Brad

I agree with them 100%. Gay parenting is not the natural order. Babies should be made out of love and not out of some desire to play house. Now foster parenting is a good idea for gay/lesbian couple.

    • blog

Brad : what is natural dude? Makes me sick to hear this kind of comment….I feel like hearing my religious mother. Jesus!

  68. Doc

If they thought that this would bring attention to them, it certainly did. But I think they could have found something else to address. I will not buy or support such insane thinking. Oh that’s right, they were not thinking. To think you must have a Brain.

  69. mark041764

Well wonder what they would say about parents( man and woman) that were married 15 years had 2 children, and then both came out when my son was 6 my daughter 4.
I personally have no clue who they are, but as a parent i dealt with enough issues! Children could care less about our sexuality, it has nothing to do with being a parent! People should be able to adopt, regardless of sexual orientation. In Florida, gay people are not allowed to adopt, which is just as bad in thinking as these 2 men! Is Florida boycotted?

Children just need loved, rather gay, straight , single parent, or married ! There are lots of kids that don’t know what a family life is like. So is it about a parent, or is it about a child feeling like they belong? I’d sayhow the children feel outways the sexuality of a parent!

  70. couple4fun14

Yes, everyone understands that’s their opinion and yes everyone understands everyone has the right to their opinion. The problem with their statement is that it was a very poor business move on their part. If you own a business it is not appropriate to make ignorant comments. You are not only offending the general public but you are also offending individuals who are on your payroll, but also individuals who made your business successful

  71. AGS

I have never had the desire to buy Dolce and Gabbana clothing in the first place. If these gay men really believe traditional families are best, that’s fine with me. It opens up a discussion. If anyone should be able to disagree with parts of the gay lifestyle it should at least be another gay right? personally i dont think who raises the child matters, but i do wonder how the child’s socialization will work. You can raise the best kid in the world, and if the parents of the other kids are all bigots, you’re setting your child up to be bullied.. we havent had a deep enough discussion about wanting to have a child VS. the reality of if you did and how others would treat it.

  72. blatop9

As a single dad I don’t need to be told that the traditional family is the best way to raise a child. i know it is – I was raised in one, and my child is the better for it – because I had it to draw from. They like everyone else is entitled to his or her opinion and should not be subject to censorious PC repercussions to expressing their opinion. If you disagree state you case. To call for a boycott etc is to punish people for not being different but thinking differently – I thought embracing difference is what we are fighting for? I guess now that Sir Elton has his. he feels perfectly within his rights to deny any dissent from the party line.
If you don’t agree with DG then don’t agree if you can afford or fit into their clothes and you like them – to not buy them is a greater outrage than not supporting them – you would prefer support hypocrites who say the agree with you in public but hold their tongues?

  73. Openmind15

Elton John expects tolerance for a lifestyle that not everyone agrees with. It is funny how those who expect tolerance are so intolerant of those that have a different opinion to their own.

  74. Megatron Griffin

Who gives a fuck what they said its not going to stop me from buying something. Half of you probably wont ever have or adopt kids. tho that isnt the point everyone can have there beliefs MOVE ON

  75. crankyd

I find it most entertaining that some of my more “colorful” posts on this and other topics have been moderated/deleted.

But really, anyone that can get behind these two megolomaniac scumbags under the guise of “equal speech, as much as i may disagree”… you’re the lowest of spineless animals.

No, you are NOT proving that you are “fair-minded” or better in that you can “tolerate alternate opinions.”
You’re all just sickening Quislings leading the rest of us to the stupid slaughter for daring to call out injustice as it plainly is.
There IS such a thing as “RIGHT OR WRONG” in this world.
Please be on the correct side.

I don’t care how much you like or dislike how D+G’s clothes look on you; that’s NOT the issue here.

These two ass-clowns need to be suffocated under Sir Elton’s butt cheeks.

  76. crankyd

As to the “everyone should be entitled to their own opinions” crowd … don’t think for a moment that these people feel the same way about you.
    They don’t.
    Proven fact.

  77. Justin

Why does it matter? I won’t stop shopping for their products nor will I ‘burn their products’. These people have opinions that are valid and in line with how they were raised. Maybe gays should extend a little of what they’ve asked for, TOLERANCE.

  78. Bryan

I 100% disagree with what they say and how they can be insensitive. However, they have the right to feel that way. Boycotting D&G isn’t the solution.

  79. Chuckie

It’s never what you say it’s how you say it…you can call a person the most offensive name in the book as long as you do it with finesse! They didn’t think about the hundreds of thousands of kids who don’t have mothers and fathers, and/or have been born through these methods.. Only thing their message does is spread self hate to children who have no say in the way they are born! Bad enough people hate us because we are gay but now we have gay people putting down gay people’s children!
