Fitness : Never Skip A Leg Day

leg

You’ve probably seen this guy around (above) with a very developed upper body but undeveloped legs/butt. I see these guys every day at the gym. Why are there so many of them? First of all, training legs is hard, so that’s the real reason why most people either don’t train them, or don’t take leg training seriously enough to forge wheels of steel.

Usually after a leg workout, I want to throw up because the muscles in the legs are the biggest in our body and it requires lot’s of energy. And like all body parts, legs should be trained from a variety of angles to maximize muscle fiber recruitment. This advice becomes even more important since your quads are composed of four different muscles, the hamstrings are made up of three and a slew of fibers come in from the north, south, east and west to form your glutes.

It is also known that training legs will help your body to produce testosterone and you need that to grow your muscles. So if you never train legs, it will be harder to get big pecs or big arms. I always train my weakest body part the day after I train legs, it helps that group as well.

Glutes (ass)

Everyone likes a nice set of glutes. Everyone. There are three glute muscles: the glute maximus, the glute medius, and the glute minimus. The glute maximus is important for hip extension—think deadlift and hip-dominant variations—but it also gets stimulated the farther down you squat.

My favorite exercise for glutes are stiff-legged deadlifts and weighted walking lunges.

Hamstrings

The hamstrings are an oft-forgotten muscle, and I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe it’s simply because the novice strength trainer can’t see their hamstrings in the mirror, so they think they’re not as important as the quads. Well, not only are they important for performance, but well-developed hamstrings help distinguish and separate the front and backsides of the body.

My favorite exercise for hamstrings are glute ham raises and lying leg curls.

Quads

The quads are major players in thigh development. I can’t remember one single person in my life that had a great set of legs who didn’t also have amazing quads. You have four quad muscles, the rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, and the vastus intermedius.

My favorite exercise for quads are barbell squats and leg extensions

Calves

And don’t forget the calves. Your legs are not complete unless the calves are also in great shape! Most leg exercises will work them out but isolate them with my favorite calves exercises: seated calf raises and standing calf raises. Use these exercises and watch them grow!

Have a great leg day!

Dave

I think the reason most gay guys don’t work on their legs in the gym is that most other gay guys only seem interested in biceps, pecs and abs.

Men, work those legs. I think a nice muscular pair of legs and thighs are hot and very sexy. Also, a man with great legs always turns out to be a great lover. They have the stamina to go on and on.

As I’m a “leg guy” that is my biggest pet peeve with most guys: their legs look like twigs in comparison to their arms and the rest of their body. Nothing is sexier than a well-proportioned guy from head to toe. However, most guys look like they’re about to topple over they’re so top heavy.

Well, if there’s one thing i wouldn’t complain about… it’s ANY of them.
Maybe not perfect, but pretty damn spectacular.

    Though not my type.

Just goes to show you can bend over backwards trying to make yourself desirable and it STILL won’t be enough for some of us.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER TO WORK OPPOSITE MM EQUALLY
    CHEST BACK
    THIGH HAMS
    INNER AND OUTER THIGHS
EVEN LOWER LEG CALVES PUSH DOWN WITH TOES. FRONT OF LOWER LEG REQUIRES OPPOSITE FOOT FLEXION

INEQUALITY QUICKLY LEADS TO JOINT DYSFUNCTION THAT MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO NN DAMAGE

I prefer guys with slimmer legs and a smaller ass. I have big thighs and a well developed ass and I wish i could lose mass in both places…

As it has been said here before, gay men are the most critical of all. This leg thing pretty much lines right up with that. And then they turn around and whine when people are critical of them claiming bigotry and a lack of respect.

Wow…guys…if you don’t want to read about fitness, don’t read about it…it’s not about being superficial or “gay” it’s a bout fitness and being healthy and in great shape. If this is not your thing, stop reading our fitness posts.

“Don’t skip leg day” isn’t a gay thing, it’s a fitness thing. Every fitness geek I know (most of the straight, by far) joke about guys who skip leg day.

This may go down as one of my favorite post yet. LEG DAY can’t spell legendary without it. I love to lift and understand that some guys have knee issues or back issues and use that as an excuse not to lift the legs. BUT there are so very many types of workout you can do that would mitigate pain and discomfort. If you are a gym attendee, look around at other guys calves. Ideally, there should be a balance between the size of a mans bicep to the size of his calf(it is also what wins bodybuilding comps.) Legs are the largest muscle group in your body, therefore after a good leg workout can be a fat burning furnace down there! PLUS it is no joke that the same muscle group that frames your swinging man meat is also that largest producer of Test! In turn provides increased stamina and energy. AND by doing squats and lunges and working leg movements and stability it safe guards you against further injury down the road, by teaching you how to lift appropriately. PLUS! That ass! Everyone loves a nice bubble glute. Get out, Go Lift, Go Deep!
