A4A : Hours To Stop Uganda’s Gay Death Penalty
The Ugandan Parliament is set to pass a brutal law that may carry the death penalty for homosexuality. If they do, thousands of Ugandans could face execution or life imprisonment — just for being gay.
AVAAZ helped stop this bill before, and with our help, they can do it again. After a massive global outcry last year, Ugandan President Museveni blocked the bill’s progress. But political unrest is mounting in Uganda, and religious extremists in Parliament are hoping confusion and violence in the streets will distract the international community from a second push to pass this hate-filled law. We can show them that the world is still watching.

The pressure is working! There are unconfirmed reports that the death penalty clause has been removed from the bill in committee. But it could be added back in at any moment and Ugandans still face life in prison for love. Let’s keep growing our call!
In prison for love? I haven’t seen too many gay people in love. They love to fuck. That’s about it. Very little love is involved from what I’ve seen. Mind you, I don’t care who you fuck but you aren’t going to convince me that love has anything to do with it.
This is awful. What’s even more pathetic they try to find it morality out of it. “After the kids”….Really???

God Bless You for putting this out there. We Same Gender Loving men in the US are spoiled. Even though some of us suffer an occaisional “gay-bashing” or some protest from homophobic extremist we really have it good here. SGL men and women in other countries are victimized just for their orientation,but haven’t even committed a crime. And if you think being closeted in America is hard because you might be embarrassed or snubbed by someone homophobic, imagine what it would be like to know you could be imprisoned or killed if you come out. I suggest you google Call Me Kuchu, it’s a documentary ablut life for SGL people in Uganda. The late David Kato, the activist pictured in the blog post is featured in it. Kuchu is the Uganda word for homosexual.
Sadder still, is that there’s many USAmerican interests that are promoting that brutal law’s passage as well. The “C-Street Family,” political lobby in Washington, is chief among them. And one of their prime financiers? Chick-Fil-A.
That’s why I wish more gay people had utilized the maturity and self-restraint to get the message out about what C.F.A. was REALLY doing with their money, instead of using it as an excuse to make out in front of people like a bunch of undersexed pre-teens. Idiots. Let’s not blow this second chance people: FOCUS. We can unite the world against this kind of brutality. Because it’s nothing less than a holocaust: genocide cloaked in religion.
We complain that we cannot get married, yet at the same time there are countries out there that are trying to make legal the government authorized killing of homosexuals. I’m not saying that our cause for legal gay marriage isn’t a valid one, it just that this puts things into perspective. Yeah we cannot get married in most states (yet!) but there are things happening to our brothers and sisters elsewhere that make our problems look trivial by comparison.
I don’t think they care what the rest of the world thinks. Let’s be clear, if that mattered then this would not happen anyway. It is another part of the world where we have not much influence and what we think does not mean a hill of beans. All we can do is protest.

i know some will take this the wrong way, but the HEADLINE about gays being after the kids,,, is this propaganda or is there something to this… i know different cultures have different ideas on when someone is MATURE and i’m curious if gay men in Uganda are soliciting sex from what other countries would consider minors,,,, i’d need more information before supporting.. if these men are, in fact, going after what would be considered a child, THEN yes, they deserve to go to jail.. I don’t believe in the death penalty but jail, YES,,,, if it’s just a tactic to make it illegal to be gay, WELLLLLL hellooooo folks,,, men in jail are more likely to have GAY sexual encounters than had you just LEFT THEM ALONE

LOGO recently broadcasted the BBC documentary “The Worst Place to be Gay”, which provided an insight into the crisis that GLBT community in Uganda is currently facing.
It surprised me that ‘those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it’, as the neo-Nazi and psychopath David Bahati pushes his agenda to carry out another massacre of people in the GLBT community, while other leaders in the rest of the world sit back and watch. One has to wonder if this will become another Rwandan style massacre legalized by the government of Uganda or an Adolf Hitler style round up of gays and lesbians.
It was extremely difficult for me view men who are supposedly educated expound such moronic, backward views of an issue that they have decided they have no interest in learning about. Most interesting is the fact that they see the West as having for longest interfered in the domestic affairs of their life while the stress their hands out for financial aids, use the Bible as a reference point to carry out their evil and the Western Churches as the guide for their belief system.
Crime against humanity is an odious offense in that they constitute a serious attack on human dignity or grave humiliation or a degradation of one or more human beings. Do we have to wait for another round of massacre in Africa perpetrated by David Bahati and his cohorts before world leaders step in?
