Style: Adidas Unveils Pride 2018 Sneakers

As Pride celebrations have become bigger and bigger every year, it’s no surprise that huge corporations have also been doing their part to join in on the celebrations.

Sportswear giant adidas, for instance, has been putting out a number of Pride-related merchandise for the past few years now, and this upcoming June isn’t any different as the company has recently unveiled their 2018 Pride collection.

This year’s collection has four sneakers with the Pride rainbow colors discreetly incorporated into the design. The four sneakers are named: Deerupt Pride Pack, i-5932, Pure Boost DPR, and Campus Pride.

The Deerupt Pride Pack is the one where the rainbow design is most obvious, immediately visible underneath some mesh. The I-5932 has the rainbow colors on the adidas logo itself, as well as the shoe’s toe and heel. The Pure Boost DPR has terra-cotta and no hint of the Pride colors at all. Lastly, Campus Pride has subtle rainbow trimming on the back of the shoe. All the shoes have a “Love Unites” logo on the insole.

The shoes will be on sale on June 1 and will retail anywhere between $90 to $150.

Of course, adidas isn’t the only multinational company that has come out with Pride-related merchandise. Entertainment behemoth Disney released its first full line of Pride merchandise a few days ago, after slowly introducing Pride Mickey hats in their parks.

The Disney merchandise includes a Rainbow Mickey Collection Pin Set, caps, water bottles, and even a fitted tank tops. Even better, 10 percent of their profits go to GLSEN (formerly the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network), which advocates on behalf of LGBTQ students in schools.
