Grammy and Oscar-winning singer Sam Smith is back with a new song after a three year absence from the music scene. Titled “Too Good At Goodbyes”, the new song is yet another paean to heartbreak that is sure to hit listeners straight in the heart.
Listen to the song here:
The song was teased about a week ago on Smith’s Instagram, where he posted a message stating that “the wait is so nearly over” and that he was “scared and excited at the same time” after pouring his “soul and heart” into the new record.
He then followed this up with photos of billboards that appeared in London and Los Angeles overnight, teasing a September 8 release.
Understandably, the anticipation for the song was heavy. The last time Smith was in the public eye, he had to cancel tour dates because of a vocal cord hemorrhage. Even before that, Smith was involved in a Twitter spat with fellow Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black, who told him to “stop texting” his then fiance, Tom Daley. Smith also had to endure public criticism after he falsely claimed to be the first gay person to win an Academy Award.
While it’s yet to be seen whether Smith’s new music is going to be as successful as his debut album, “In the Lonely Hour”, things do look positive for the singer. As of this writing, the video was already #21 on Youtube’s Trending list and had amassed 8,000,000 views.

LOVE IT!!!!
Love the song and he is brilliant. He could sing the phone book and it would be better than listening to alot of the autotuned talentless sh*ts on the radio!
Never been a fan of Sam smith but this song is pretty good. Maybe because I’m listening to it while in the middle of hurricane Irma but thank god im safe at home. Anyway it’s a sad but beautiful song. But I can’t listen twice bc it’s kind of depressing song. Hope every survive the hurricane in Florida
The title but boast ignorance. Of yours?! Good at goodbyes!? Then say it like a narcissus.
