Watch This: Is it Okay to Experiment with Other Guys?

AXE launched a new ad and you have to watch it, guys! Their new campaign’s theme runs along the lines of, “Is it okay for guys to be themselves?”

Of course the answer is YES (and for the record, this applies to everyone else not just guys) but reality is so much more complicated than that. For one, there is such a thing as social expectations which help shape and define our idea of self, of who we are, what we should be, and what we should do. Time and again we are faced with difficult questions: Is it okay for guys to wear pink? Is it okay to not like sports? To have a long hair? To experiment with other guys? The questions seem to be endless but all too often we find ourselves wanting to conform to society’s expectations, afraid to stick out like a sore thumb and be at the receiving end of sick jokes.

These expectations lead to pressures, which could result in “fear, anger, and frustration,” AXE says. Further, it could “contribute to bullying, violence, and suicide.”

With #isitokforguys campaign, AXE aims to “expose the pressure guys feel to ‘be a man’ and empower them to be whoever they damn well want.” AXE partnered with non-profit organizations Promundo, The Representation Project, and Ditch the Label to “fight those limitations and create a society where there is no wrong way to be a man. No labels. No limits on what men can or cannot be.”

Very well said, AXE. Take a look at their new campaign below.

What do you think about their new ad campaign, guys? Which of the questions mentioned in the ad did you ask yourself over the years? Did you find the answer to your question? What did you do about it? Share with us your thoughts and stories in the comments section below.

“and empower them to be whoever they damn well want.”

And this is where too many gays fall on their faces. They want everyone else to accept them for who they DAMN are but feel that means they can ride roughshod over everyone else.

Acceptance is a two way street. Being “whoever (you) damn well want” means you’re then EQUAL with everyone else, not special, not entitled … EQUAL It doesn’t mean you can walk into a room and suck the life out of it and be an attention whore of gaynesss.

    Wear pink … Fine.

Just be a decent, responsible respectful guy who happens to be gay. No one will care what color your clothes are.

Problem is too many people still care if guys wear pink or not, if they’re considered ‘manly’ or not, so until then NO, many Gays are not considered EQUAL in the eyes of others.

It’s too bad that your world view is “too many people still care ” and not “so many people no longer care.”

Both are right, of course. It’s just a “glass is half full” or “glass is half empty” thing … and choosing to live among the winners or the losers.
