Music: Katy Perry Collaborates With Homophobic Rapper
Katy Perry has a rocky relationship with the LGBTQ community, to say the least. She’s been criticized for songs like I Kissed a Girl and Ur So Gay, and now she’s being hit on Twitter for her latest collaboration. All of this comes weeks after receiving the Human Rights Campaign’s National Equality Award, where she gave a heartwarming speech about equality.
In a Twitter post, Perry announced that her latest song, Bon Appetit, will be a collaboration with rap trio Migos. Migos — specifically its member Quavo — was in hot water recently for homophobic remarks made about out gay musician iLoveMakonnen.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Quavo had this to say about the support iLoveMakonnen received for coming out: “They supported him? That’s because the world is fu**ed up. This world is not right.” Afterwards, the rapper attempted to clarify his statement, saying ““If you real from the heart, you real from the heart. That ain’t got nothing to do with no sex or gender. It’s 2017, and we all living.”
Here’s a sampling of the tweets that Perry has received since the announcement of the collaboration:

I don’t care who she collaborates with. If I like the song, I’ll like it. African Americans have supported the music of many artists that have not been support of our community.
Ironic how we, as gay men and women, don’t want others to determine OUR CHOICES, but are so often attempting to determine the choices of others.
She gets to record with who she wants. If you don’t like the song then don’t listen, don’t buy. I personally have more things to concern myself with than who Katy Perry collabs with.
It’s not about “choices” here man. Choice is liking carrots or cucumbers. Nobody should discriminate anyone for their skin color, their sexuality, their language…this is called stupidity, not choice.
Who flipping cares seriously
