Watch This : Gay Couple Gets Engaged at Bulls Game
Professional sports isn’t the first thing you think of when you’re asked about gay-friendly spaces, but a few days ago it was certainly the best place for couple Jake Conrad and Michael Holtzman.
During the halftime of a game against the San Antonio Spurs, and in front of the home crowd, Conrad got down on a one knee and proposed to Holtzman, who thankfully said yes. But when Conrad first planned the proposal it wasn’t meant to be so public.
Holtzman, a lifelong Bulls fan, had let Conrad know that he had always wanted to go to a game. Conrad decided to take it one step further and got in touch with the Chicago Bulls about purchasing a fan experience package where he could propose to Holtzman before the game began. But the Bulls took it even further by suggesting that Conrad propose during the game.
When Conrad agreed, it led to a proposal during the halftime show that involved Benny the Bull and the Luvabulls. Watch the video of it below (Just don’t read the comments!):
While Holtzman and Conrad’s proposal may be the first same-sex proposal made at a major sporting event, Youtube is certainly replete with video of same-sex marriage proposals done in public.
For instance, there was this 2013 marriage proposal done at a Home Depot and to the tune of Betty Who’s “Somebody Loves You”.
The video, which now has more than 13 million views, was enough to get the couple featured on Ellen.

The best public marriage proposals are the ones where they say no. I hate them, and watching the awkward and humiliating aftermath of being shot down in public is so funny. Pop the question in private on a romantic night, or with friends and family. The rest of the world doesn’t care.
That was cute. Congratulations!
large-scale proposals–I find–to be disrespectful. If a man asked me to marry him, I would want it private and man-to-man. That would be special. I just despise grandstanding.
