Gay Stuff : Should You Shave Your Armpits?

I trim my armpit hair. But my bf does not and he has long armpit hair, the rest of his body is not hairy, it’s naturally smooth and he trims his pubes which is hot, but how do I approach him about trimming or even shaving off his armpit hair without making him feel that I don’t like him as is? I think he’d look hotter without the hair but I don’t want him to feel uncomfy when I mention it.

I’m not that hairy to begin with but I keep my armpit hair trimmed back pretty short for athletic reasons, and I shave my legs from the knee down so my tape job stays where I put it. My cock, balls and ass are smooth.

I always thought that a Man’s hairy pits were a turn on. It’s especially nice to see guys in tank tops or shirtless raise their arms to reveal a nice patch of hair. If you have a bothersome issue, then trim it if you choose. Smooth or Hairy Men are just fine however they feel most comfortable. Some go overboard to the point where they are completely hairless. That’s too high matinance for me. I shaved my pits, and pubes once, and I won’t do that again.

I’ve never encountered anyone with ‘overly hairy’ arm pits. Not sure how I’d feel if I did.
I do have a preference that the man I am involved with not have anti-antiperspirant – only because it tastes awful when I lick/kiss there.

I don’t like body hair. I keep myself smooth everywhere. I am hairless from the neck down.

Unless you have alopecia or a fetish, adults have body hair. You can be hairy, smooth and all the ways in between, but adults have hair and to make you look like a prepubescent child is a little on the sick side. Even when I was a kid and before I knew what being Gay was, I was attracted to an adult with body hair. Shaving your pubic area so you look like yoy have not gone through puberty is a complete turn off to me and would make me not attracted to another guy. A lokk of a man, yes, but of a preteen, heck no.

What I do not get at all, is that facial hair and the scruff look is in, but then the guy shaves his pubic area. WTF??!!

Back to the subject: trimming the length is fine, shaving is not.

I do not like a man that shaves all his armpits if he trims just a bit ok. I also love a man that does not shave his pubes I want to see hair down there making sure he is a man not a little boy.

I am a hairy man, and I recently started shaving my pit hair to quit sweating so badly. I have had this problem the last 20 plus years. My shirt underarms would be soaked. Not anymore!

I was doing wide pull ups with a workout buddy years ago and he commented, “Gee Kev, you’ve got quite a bush goin on there.” Since then, its been clipped but not shaved.

I trim my pits. I find that I use a lot less deodorant.

I personally do not like guys who trim/shave their pits or even pubes for that manner. A guy is suppose to have hairy pits and a bush between his legs. If I wanted smooth pits and no pubes, I’d date a kid. Seriously.

I’m pretty hairy from waist down and armpits can get hairy. I manscape..trim..especially in summer hair holds sweat and while I do like the smell of a man..old ass sweat and hot funk is NOT attractive… You stink..you don’t smell manly. You smell unclean. Here’s a tip…shaved pubes makes your dick look bigger… And nobody likes caked up deodorant in your armpit hair…so trim..nobody said that you had to shave it but you should keep it neat..your gym mates and fellow transit commutors will thank you

Trimming is alright but unless it’s your ass shaving is disgusting. Can’t stand these so called men looking more and more like women. I trim my pubes, on rare occasions my arm pits, but the totally bald look is a real turn off for me. But I can understand and make exceptions for men who are overly hirsute and don’t want to have hair on their backs and necks, etc. In those instances I think it’s alright to shave. But personally, if your pubic area is all smooth it’s a complete turn-off.

I love a trim up guy,and as for me I always trim up below and completely shave the armpits….

I wonder how many of the respondents who find shaving of armpits (or chests or pubic hair) a “turn off” and who equate the practice with femininity or pre-pubescence themselves have full facial hair or long head-hair? It is amusing to me that shaving below the neck is somehow feminizing while shaving above the neck or keeping head-hair short is “just good grooming.” To quote a few pro-beard slogans: “Real men have beards”; “Shaving [the beard] says a lot about a man, like ‘I am not one'”; and one of my personal favorites: “Men who scrape off their beards whittle away their masculine honor. Put down the razor and grow up!”
Then there is the issue of fearing being perceived as feminine. That stems from issues of poor self-esteem and discomfort with the self coupled with a longstanding cultural practice that depicts women as weak, inferior, and powerless. It is a form of internalized homophobia, in my opinion … and a particularly insidious one at that.
Ditto fear of being perceived as appearing or wishing to be or appear pre-pubescent, again equated with weakness, inferiority, and powerlessness and again an insidious form of homophobia.
As for myself … I have a voluminous white beard that falls halfway down my chest, short head-hair, 1/2-inch trimmed armpit hair, and a totally shaved pudenda. I like both the masculine AND the feminine aspects of my personality and being.

I keep my armpits shaved now to avoid a lot of body odor from under my arms. It works for and not a whole lot of high maintenance. I don’t have problems with a man who is hairy as long as good hygiene is maintained and you use stronger soap and deodorant. It is a personal decision and it is up to the individual. You know your body; therefore, do what works for you. If you don’t like a lot of hair on certain parts of your body, then change it. Do what is best for you so you can be comfortable with yourself.

One further note that I cannot resist, since I am an academic historian: Body hair has of course been viewed differently by various cultures. The Ancient Greeks and Romans are particularly useful examples. Among the hundreds of surviving Greek bronze statues of heroes and gods, one sees virtually none depicted with significant body hair, beyond a tiny patch of pubic hair. And it’s not that they could not depict it. Rather, body hair was seen by the Greeks as an indicator of low social status and/or lack of “culture.” Both educated and elite Greeks and their Roman successors removed body hair, including from the armpits, chest, etc. You will never see a hairy-chested Roman in any surviving wall painting or mosaic. The Greek word for an an outsider or an uneducated person was barbaros, which eventually became the Latin word for a bearded person, barbatus. And from there we get the English word barbarian. Whole academic studies have been done on depilation among Roman men during the Republican and Early Imperial periods. So it is amusing to me that any modern gay man could equate hair removal with femininity and weakness. I challenge those modern hairy men to defeat any hairless Roman in combat!

I will trim and I mean trim the pit hair from time to time, seems to get too long and I end up applying deodorant to hair not skin. I can’t have no hair though, I don’t feel right otherwise. But that’s about it. If I shaved my body it would take hours. I guess I prefer a hairy guy!

I use to be a pit man. I think this fetish began during college when LARRY BIRD fell on top of me….and his pit was right in my face. I could have and should have licked it.

No problem at my age as my hair no longer grows under my arms, in fact cannot remember having much hair in my armpits, but am moderate hairy everywhere else.lol except my bald head. Trim chest, back and pubes, just wish the genes would have went to my head and not chest and back! Lol

No. I find shaved pits a total turnoff. Im into pits n man scent n shaved pits ruin that whole thing….plus it just makes the guy look like a complete pussy.

I am shocked how judgemental many of these comments are. And predominantly they are from hairy guys against those of us who shave our bodies!! I am not into sex with children. I like to be shaved and being with shaved men because I like the feel of skin against skin and the athletic look. Grow up!

I hate to break it to some of you guys, but you are neither the definitive authority on what constitutes a “real man”, nor are you the target audience for the majority of guys who are looking to make an impression with their grooming practices, whatever that may entail. Everyone likes what they like, so feel free to chase those preferences, just save the complaints and insults directed at those who fail to cater to your specific preferences.
