Gay Stuff : Christianity and Sexuality

xxx

Through the 2,000+ years that Christianity has been in existence, the matter of sexuality has come through a clouded, confused past with church fathers trying to decipher whether there was a virgin birth associated with Jesus of Nazareth and how human he wasversus being a deity. The results of their efforts created a Trinity plan to explain Jesus as in Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We now enter the 21st century and election of a new Papal leaderthe first from South America! He comes to the throne of St. Peter in Rome with a vision for transforming the Roman Catholic Church into a fellowship for all believers—whatever your race, sexual orientation, or nationality.

In the United States, we are struggling with same-sex unions and family life, while looking to our future. The same science that confirms the order of creation in sync with religious teachings is the same science that has provided evidence that our chromosomes are similar but different between a str8 man and a gay man. Thus, the age-old theory is false concerning placing a gay person with str8 persons long enough that the gay guy will become straight!

Christianity is attempting to find its way while understanding the chromosome factor and accepting gays into church fellowships across the land. In the midst of changes, a United State Supreme Court decision in support of same-sex marriage will further cause Christianity to reflect on families and the relevance of same-sex unions.

Many gay men are judgmental! Any deviation from their personal beliefs is berated and subjected to ridicule. If you do not think like they think—then you are in error—never considering that they could be wrong. One carpenter was crucified for his deviation from the crowd!

What do you guys think about the changes we are experiencing today?

Mark Twain sums up religion in a nutshell with:

“In religion and politics people’s beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”

    and

“Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool.”

It can easily be argued that organized religion is nothing more than an attempt to control people’s beliefs and actions, so that they are good little serfs for the ruling class. Don’t believe what we tell you to… you will burn, suffer and be in agony for all eternity, but God loves you.

  2. Stephen

I say fuck all religion! I don’t say that with anger or looking to offend. All religions were created by humans to control weak minded people (& take their money). Get over it. Do unto others-all you need to live a good life.

You know with the resent Easter movie tv productions, we the people of faith or no faith are still experiencing the same values and who we are, and what we do that are written about in the bible. There will always be the bible thumpers putting people down for who they are, that will never change. All that we can do as individuals is to try and live our lives the way we see fit, and quit joining the bigotry controversy that people of the church media seem to thrive on, in hopes of getting more sheep to follow there flauk of hatred to fatten there pockets with.

Being gay won’t keep you out of heaven. It never has been the stance of 99% of Christians. It will keep you out of church, because the bible clearly calls it a sin. Being part of a church means agreeing with the bible(or each individual church’s interpretation of it). If you disagree with the widely held stance that gay is sin, not only will you not be accepted,I honestly can’t see why you would want to be.

Some churches may change their individual stance, and we may come to a day when the bible won’t mean anything to anyone, but unless that happens,I don’t see the church in general”modernizing” its beliefs.

What it may do, though…If this preliminary(and outdated method) of study ends up getting more solid proof…Well be to further the cause of the Calvinist movement that says God chooses some to have fellowship with him and others he simply doesn’t. Or that God gave then this affliction for them to overcome for His glory.

I am a gay Christian and would highly recommend the following books: “Torn” by Justin Lee (Founder and Executive Director of The Gay Christian Network); “God and the Gay Christian” by Matthew Vines; and “Walking the Bridgeless Canyon” by Kathy Baldock (Kathy is an amazing straight ally). Also, there is a paragraph in her book about my personal journey in the chapter about Mixed-Orientation Marriage. I was married to a women for over 30 years.

The Gay Christian Network helped me to reconcile my faith and my sexual orientation.

The Christian faith is, and has always been, riddled with conflicting, and sometimes polar-opposite directions. It is natural, given that the writings that make up the Bible come from mortal men in their own manuscripts.

This doesn’t make it (the Bible) any more right or wrong — what it makes it is open to interpretation!

When the Christian faithful look to their Bible for direction on homosexuality, they have to look back to the Old Testament — for there are virtually no references to homosexuals in the NEW testament — and that gets sticky:
    – 1 Corinthians says homosexuals cannot inherit the kingdom of God… but then again, neither can anyone who masturbates or is effeminate
    – Leviticus TWICE says men shall not lie with other men (nothing about lesbians tho) — but Leviticus also says you cannot eat fat (left for God) or pork… so much for those yummy pork rinds!
    – the list is much longer, but in every chapter of the Old Testament that decries homosexuality, there is another “sin” that we “overlook” in modern times.

The fact is, there are more “laws” from the origins of all the major religions (but the article focused on Christianity) that in modern times we overlook. (Pork is OK now, as there is no longer any legitimate fear of trichinosis… shellfish are no longer bathing in mostly human waste, so they’re not dangerous anymore… and the list goes on… and on and on!

My point here is not anti-faith (Christian, Jewish, or other)… only that they all have a long history of changing with the times! (In Biblical times, you didn’t divorce your 1st wife, you just took a second one! After all, what part of “Til Death Do Us Part” was confusing? And that was an Oath before God — made in his house!)

So, just as 50 years ago (yes — ONLY 50 years ago!) when Catholics decided that saying the Mass in the local “vernacular” (I haven’t heard Mass in ebonics yet!) was to be allowed (and preferred), now we are entering a time (oh how they are a changin’ again) where the “sins” of homosexuality are relegated to the same trash-heap of religious law as Divorce and all the foodie exclusions.

If you disagree with my premise that our interpretations of Biblical Law change with the times, I will await your evidence — and suggest you start by showing me where the publicly organized stonings are in all of the modern major biblical cities? (Here in St. Petersburg, FL they are held at Noon on Sundays — but since we can’t do any WORK on the Sabbath, and we’ve been unable to find any “without sin” to start us off, we haven’t had a successful stoning in a very VERY long time!)

I was raised in the baptist church but I don’t go anymore. When I go to a new church when they find out I’ve never been married or have children they back off like I’ve got a contagious disease. I’m tired of it and don’t go anymore. I will say the baptist are the most unforgiving, meanest and nastiest. And they don’t want you to come to church if you have depression. Anything physical okay we’ll pray for you and help. Anything else stay out.

The huge problem is that people whether gay or straight, mistake true christianity for moralistic deism….they focus moreon the do’s and don’t’s and focus primarily on religion rather than relationship with the One true living God, and accecpting Jesus as Lord…I live here in East Alabama..grew up in the church and had to figure out what and why believe what I believe..and the point is that it’s a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP…which means it’s between the individual and the One that person serves, forget about religon, that’s where the confusion starts, hell, Religion killed Jesus….my point is it boils down to Yes God does love you and has an Awesome plan for your life!!cliche, i know but oh, so true. And One day the gray clouds will prt and the confusion will stop and religion won’t matter any more…When peopls stop mistaking morality and religious law for a true relationship with Him,then and only then will we see Jesus as He is,which is Love,Grace Kindness and Understanding..Sly in Opelika,Al.

bible was written by “man” interpreting the message of god. and god knows how man can and will twist things around to make it better. anyone picking and choosing a single ‘line’ out of the bible to ridicule another is a ‘sin’…let he who is without sin cast the first stone…yadda yadda yadder…..

I don’t need some fairytale dictating my life. Religion is for retards who can’t face reality for what it is and what it truly offers

I don’t fit in the Christian world because I am gay.
I don’t fit in the gay world because I am a Christian.

Look around in the Bible and you not find on instance where God or Jesus condemn homosexuality. You will find instances (in Leviticus and Corinthians, for example) where it is condemned by men who claim to speak on God’s behalf. So ‘The Bible says …”. Really?

All too often, people with opinions lump all Christians (including leaders) into one pot that spews hate for all things homosexual. Just as all too often, people with opinions lump all Republican/Conservative/Righties into one pot that spews hate for all things homosexual while all Democratic/Liberal/Lefties supposedly believe in tolerance and understanding.

As a Right leaning, Christian believing, heterosexually married, gay guy, I see it as the extremists who keep doing a GREAT job at keeping the hate and gross negative generalizations alive … for the sole reason of giving the a cause to continue to fight for. I know many many Righties and Christians who are tolerant and understanding. Someone’s being gay isn’t something they even give consideration to anymore.

Are “we” REALLY “…struggling with same-sex unions and family life…”? Great strides have been made by State after State over recent years which clearly put the tolerant and understanding opinions of “the People” in place. It’s the cause-seekers who continue to fight to keep the struggle and hate alive instead of nurturing and promoting the successful changes that have taken place and continue to do so.

So far, the tolerant and understanding continue to win.

I am an American and believe that the US Constitution rules in our nation. We are
free to make our own choice.Thomas Jefferson, said that he found no redeeming qualities in Christianity.
Mark Twain said, religion was invented when a com man met a fool.
The world will be a better place without religious fanatics.
John Lennon wrote a song Imagine. We should listen to that song often and think about the message.

I neither claim to be enlightened or educated. My own fight has been a long and serious one for myself. Raised in the United Methodist church; many opinions of ministers and Christian have influenced me . It has been my option to find my own personal understanding to what I have read, heard or seen. Each person adapts a feeling, sense, or belief that guides him or her to a place of faith. You can worship a toadstool and it may work for you. Guilt , shame and complete unworthiness has come from religions if that is what you take from it. One thing you have is the ability to control how you react to anything. Life on this earth is too short for guilt and unworthiness. The world is changing and if the religious leaders don’t get on board with that; they to will be left behind. Believe what you want and have faith in yourself. Do what is right toward each other, have faith in yourself, love yourself, and you can love others better and with out condemnation from anyone.

Hello–I don’t need any one especially a government that can’t even get a budget settled nor their own lives settled to tell me what my moral vaules should or should not be.That is what each person learns as they grown up and deals with people and life. And the way those people act in Washington i never want them to tell me about my beliefs. And since Alabama is the last state to get out of the stone age.

I am a Christian, and the God I serve loves us all, regardless of sexual orientation. As long as gay people are productive members of society, we should be acepted and not judged, Those that are using the pulpit as their own personal soapbox. God loves us all, and we shouldn’t condem ourselves, less on other hypocritical so called Christians persecuting us. STOP IT!!!!!!!!

Religion and spirituality are two different things. I have been working I. Ministry my entire life. I was raised in the church. My personal walk with the Lord was encouraged to grow as my faith did. Maybe it was different for me but I never rarely encountered any discrimination.. On e is is perhaps that as a Minister of Music many of us are gay and that is accepted by the Church,me specially the Black Church. My orientation doesn’t hinder or streghtn my walk with the Lord. Is is my personal faith walk.

Personally, I think the problems with religion and the sociopolitical issues can summed up with three”C”‘s; Constantine, Competition and Commerce. Constantine was only interested in trying to keep the Roman empire together hence the Vatican as in the Neo Pax Romana. Competition comes in with the pesky and childish human need to feel superior than someone else, either through state sponsored hierarchy or cultural ones, what kills me is why we as gay/queer/trans/asexual/non I.D. Conforming communities wanna ape mainstream culture and fight for acceptance from a culture who’s power and privileges are codified by a crumbling and corrupt hierarchy? Other protection of children and property and assets and of course tax incentives via legal marriage. Commerce, the megachurches and catholic palaces of the world profit greatly from divide and conquer tactics, pick a group, give them a narrative (especially in the early church when no one could read or write)exhalt one and denigrate another, but at the same time give them a supernatural example to aspire to (thanks Piso family). Which no could ever attain, therefore in the case of the Catholic church have pay for indulgence and/or confess their “sins”, which given human nature, they are than likely to repeat, so may as well make money off of it, or fluff ’em up make them sanctified and holier than thou, where they will definitely donate more to keep that favor. In no way do I mean to knock religion, for some, especially in the Black community, the church serves as a place of hope and empowerment in a hopeless time since the times of slavery, as well as a place for planning insurrection against the ills of an unjust world, for gays and lesbians, it can be the embrace from society they have been waiting for all their lives. However for me, I say fuck dogma, give a holistic spiritual life any day, fuck the four walls, the bonfire of the vanities, or mythical narratives and cartoon characters.

The folks at West burro baptist church have it right because the bible really is that evil. Those folks are just true believers who know how to follow directions.
Pretty much all religions are inherently violent and downright abhorrent by our modern morals and ethics. The only way to ‘pacify’ such religions is for its followers to remove themselves as far as possible from a literal interpretation and in doing so, ignore much of their own holy writings.
Most Christians haven’t read their own bible. Spoiler alert, god kills everyone. He didn’t like someone, he just murdered them. Or he would murder your kids just to punish you. Towns upset him, he murdered the whole towns. People disobeyed him, he murdered them. His own people (the Jews) upset him, he murdered them. People generally upset him, he murdered the entire world. He commanded Abraham to murder his own son. He wanted to get his message across, he had his own son Jesus murdered. Are you getting the message yet? He’s a bloody murder who knowingly creates humans with flaws then manipulates them and then murders them for the sin that he knew they would commit and then condemns them to eternal torture. He’s a filthy dirty killer who makes Hitler look like a choir boy.

It is jesus and the New Testament where the bible gets real bloody. Far worse than the old testament.
The New Testament is where jesus gives us the eternal torturer of billions of people and most for just not loving jesus. Matthew 24:41 Jesus sends billions to burn in hell for eternity. Matt, 10:34 Jesus says he comes not in peace but with a sword to divide families and condemns most all hell. Luke 12:51. 19:27 Jesus says, But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them–bring them here and kill them in front of me.'”. Matthew 21:18-19; 20-22 and Mark 11:12-14; 20-25. Jesus cursed and killed fig tree for not producing fruit out of season and is recorded in two places in the bible. Jesus is a jerk.
All the bible is made up. The prophecies of Revelation point to the time of Nero and events contemporaneous with John. If jesus were a true prophet (or the Gospels true), the end of the Age would already have arisen, as jesus falsely prophesied in Matt. 24:33:
“Verily I say unto you, THIS GENERATION shall by no means pass, till all these things are fulfilled.”
The Jews aren’t persuaded that any of the Old Testament points to Jesus, which is why so few become Christians. In a debate, a learned Jew will defeat a Christian every time.

Jesus said he would return in the first century. Matt 16:28, Mark 9:1, Luke 9:27 He was a no show, a false prophet.

It’s not hard to find fault with religion, it is heavily burdened with low hanging fruit. The damage it does to society is obvious. The atrocities of religion are well documented throughout history and if one takes a moment to look for it, this example continues daily.

I really have no respect for religion. The religious dogma they believe in says we gays should be stoned to death and be thrown in a lake of fire for eternity. You don’t get more disrespectful that. It promotes intolerance, sexism, elitism, homophobia. It denies personal freedom, equality, and science and encourages ignorance. Do you think the religious showed respect to the beliefs of the cartoonist who were murdered? Do you think they showed respect for every gay person who their religion claims should be stoned and killed?
Why would anybody show respect for that?

I am a gay man who was born and raised in church. My grandfather is a preacher he knows my sexual orientation. As well ad everyone else in my family. I feel that people’s personal opinions influence their decision/judgement. Not just in religion or politics but in every one and we are all the same no matter race, sex, sexual orientation, gender, etc. That’s just my thought on the matter and I know people will not agree with me and that’s fine.

  21. john

All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster in the sky. From him all pasta flows.

Gay or straight, religion and belief in God and all that nonsense is silly.

  22. Keith

Jesus loved all people, gay or straight. Those who have perverted Christianity for their personal agenda should be ashamed for their predujicial belief system.

  23. 1versfucker

I was ‘hoodwinked’ int organized religion an early age and fell into other cultish groups in my searching early adult life before I woke up to the bs.
As knowledge of our origins and existence becomes clearer, religion / god will become a ridiculous historical account of man’s past.
I firmly believe religion is for the lazy, uninformed or mentally vulnerable,
and promoted by those who relish control on others.
    Wake up!
Here’s a great quote I found on the net:
There is no god, So instead get up off your ass educate and help yourself and others to become self autonomous objective independent critical thinkers understand that the map is not the territory, trust nothing that has a corporate agenda, become the change.

  24. god

This used to be a great subject for me. I know of one man that was married and a member here. I have tons of email to support so many things about a gay married man wanting to destroy so many things along with his marriage. God yes. Religion no.

  25. Hungryblueboy

I don’t fit in the Christian world because I’m gay.
I don’t fit in the gay world because I’m a Christian.

  26. ILoveNormal

Why don’t sites like A4A, or any media outlet for that matter, mention true gay/religeon conflict? What about hardliner Islamists who throw gays off of rooftops, or cut their heads off without any high-brow polemic. All I have ever heard from Christian groups is that God loves them, but wants them to be aware of their mistakes.

Can’t our community recognize that there is hate within our ranks as well? Trying being a conservative in a college art department, or someone who loves their country in a Pride parade. Isn’t trying to erase 2,000 years of believe as fruitless as trying to reverse the emotions of a born homosexual?

By the way, the Pope is just a man, and Catholicism doesn’t represent Christianty…except in movies.

  27. Highervibration

I’m a gay Christian. I simply believe that we are all sinners on this earth, and we can only be made right with God through what Jesus did on cross: Dying for our sins and paying the penalty for it so we can become Sons of God when we accept Him as Lord & Saviour.

This is the essence of Grace: Unmerited favour with God, and it’s extended to anyone. Period. One sexuality isn’t superior to another in this formula.

As for if being same-sex attracted is a sin, I say a definite no biblically.

Same-sex sexual activity? Not too sure, but if it is, it’s no more a big deal than any other sin of flesh.

GayChristian101 is a great site to check out to go deep into this topic and find resolution to questions.

  28. Jack McNulty

When Christian faith moved from the matrix of Judaism into the Gentile world categories from non-Jewish philosophy began to be used to interpret the experience of Christ. The powerful hold of Neo-Platonism on the Greek and Roman world proved an adequate vehicle for understanding the new religion in familiar categories. Unfortunately There was an built in mistrust of the material world and an exaltation of the ideals of the spiritual world promoted by Plato. A lot of the hostility against sexual expression comes from Neo-Platonism not christian Faith. The sexual ethics of the Platonists were accepted almost automatically in spite of the Jewish affirmation of the goodness of creation, marriage and sexual love. When the age of Martyrs ended in the 4th century new heroes were sought among the hermits and monks of the time. Their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience were translated into a further disparaging of marriage itself. Sexual expression even there was seen as a concession to the flesh. Justinian’s Law Code of the 6th century criminalized sexual relations outside of marriage among women as well as men as an antidote for the plagues and defeats on the diminished Roman world. The Medieval world inherited these situations uncritcally and adopted Roman Law as if it were Divine Revelation. The healthy Jewish world view was forgotten or trivialized by increasing Anti Semetic sentiment grew. I suggest these developments were not healthy and at the expense of what Jesus of Nazareth probably accepted.

  29. Man cannot live by bread alone...

For myself, I am a CHRISTIAN first who struggles with same sex attraction. FOR ME, I cannot be a “gay Christian” because it is diametrically opposed to each other. If I call myself a follower of Jesus Christ, and I do not do what He tells me to do, then I am a liar and the truth is not in me. This lifestyle is in direct contradiction to the Word of God. For me the word of God is clear, it does not change to fit my lifestyle, I have to change to fit the word of God.

No I don’t believe in gay marriage

Yes I believe that the Bible is the true, authentic word of God

Yes, FOR ME, this lifestyle is abhorrent to God

Yes, I believe that I will face burn in Hell for all eternity if I do not turn my life around

Yes, God loves us ALL, doesn’t mean he is not HOLY, AND RIGHTEOUS, AND PERFECT.

Yes, God loves me but he hates my lifestyle

  30. Tobius

I am also a Christian. There are so many questions about the Bible… So many theories on what the scriptures mean. How the new and old testaments relate to each other.
Here’s what I know to be true. Jesus didn’t waste time talking about what things will and won’t keep you out of Heaven. Jesus hung out with sinners all of the time. He loved them. He said that He is the way truth and the life and no one can get to heaven except through Him.
Christianity is a hard lifestyle to live. I honestly do think that if lived right, its more than a religion. Its more than just a list of dos and don’ts. Humans don’t decide who gets in to heaven and who doesn’t. God does. We can’t judge anyone because are all flawed. There are no perfect people. Christians are no exception. Obviously!
God is the ultimate judge. The only thing required to get into heaven is a relationship with Jesus. I honestly don’t think we can help who we are attracted to. I don’t think He cares either.

  31. J1971

As one who struggled with my identity for many years, I can only say that my feelings on organized religion (born Catholic, now atheist/agnostic [not agnostic/atheist]) are not all pleasant.

Went to boarding school (Catholic), and you better believe that a “lifestyle choice” such as I now live was not acceptable in any way, shape, or form.

My life may have been very different if I had the courage to step outside the boundaries laid in front of me many years ago. I have kids, I love them. I have an ex-wife who I’m not on speaking terms with.

I have come to my own realization that I don’t need a false sky-god to dictate morality to me. My life, my choices are my own. If i choose to do the right thing by my fellow man, the choice is its own reward. No need to wait for an after life.

The time of religion has passed. People are smarter than that. Choose for yourself what is right. Don’t be told what is right or wrong. Don’t beat yourself for who you are because some well-dressed person tells you so.

If Jesus existed, he would certainly said the same thing. The guy apparently hung out with prostitutes!

  32. Edward

Upfront; I’m a hypocrite. My confession is not from pride, but just a pre-admission as it were for what will be no doubt be an onslaught of hatin’ after I make my comments.

I’m unaware of the science proving a “gay” chromosome. The last consensus I was aware of is that there is no creditable evidence showing anyone is born gay. For every expert that says there is, there will be twice as many saying there isn’t. I have very strong desires for other men but I’ve never believed I was born that way. I know where and when my affinity got started. I think most gay men do. We just so desperately want to believe it was a natural (some would even say predestined) occurrence. That takes all responsibility off our shoulders. Yay!

Okay, for the sake of argument, let’s say we were born gay. Question? Who made that decision? Our parents? Their genes? God? He would certainly have the power. But wait! If in His infinite wisdom He did “make” us; then why didn’t He make provisions for us in the Bible? Men wrote the bible you say! So; men could write about rape, incest, orgies, beastality and such; and nobody has a problem with that . . . yet. But goodness no; he can’t touch homosexuality!

Come on guys! We are what we are. The only way it seems we can feel good about that it to trash the bible and Christianity. People have been trying to discredit the bible for hundreds of years. The bible is still here; where are many of them? Worm food! If our cause is just, let it stand on its own merit. Why do we have to crush everyone who disagrees? And this thing about comparing the gay struggle to that of Blacks; oh hell no! It’s not the same thing AT all . . . Not even close. As a Black man; it’s a insult to me every time I hear that.

If the world is still around in 20 30 or 50 years from now, I wonder what the next thing will be that people claim they have a god given right to do will be. Even when they don’t credit that God with enough sense to make it clear.

  33. HunterL

Way to go! Ask for an opinion and the boys line up to challenge one another. Believe what you will, worship how you choose, follow and fall short, or Deny and be wrong — just please stop assuring us all that you are the one who got it all CORRECT.

It’s pretty simple: if you call yourself a Christian, then you should follow in the example of Christ — love, accept, and do not judge. Now, there’s a CHALLENGE for the men of A4A

Peace be unto you my brothers 🙂

  34. Joey

I was raised in a Christian home and find it sad that with all the love and acceptance they preach, they don’t practice it when it comes to gay people. Although I have found with the younger generation (35 and below) that I know from my church, they have no issue with people being gay. I hope Christianity as a whole will truly practice what Jesus taught and that is to love others like you love yourself.

  35. ronald lee

i dont know if the evil narcistic gay man have become like that from all the negative/hate energy put on them…and have not yet discovered releasing darkness put them thru meditation…or their just dicks

  36. Allen

On this subject I belong to not one but 2 churches that embrace glbt folks and have been to seminars that showed how wrong people are about the bible and sexual orientation specifically glbt people and how we’d pretty much all be dead if we took it’s words literally!…The End…PS I ended part of these churches because one of them from where I lived at the time was in the Gay Pride parade!!!

  37. Mark

There has been a series look at reinterpretation of the translation of certain biblical passages which have traditionally been read as condemning homosexuality. There is a point of view that is gaining traction that the condemnation in Paul’s letters was against homosexual rape, not merely homosexual consensual sex. That may well provide the basis for greater acceptance, at least in more moderate to liberal denominations like mine. And for that I am thankful.

  38. Tristan

Stephen – where in the world do you think the teaching “do unto others” comes from? On the one hand you say “fuck all religion” while less than a line or two later you quote Jesus himself, as recorded in the Gospels. Irony, anyone??!?

  39. chuck

I am a gay Christian..simple fact because I BELIEVE!!!! I have vowed to never talk Religion or Politics because these two issues are SO personal and you are never going to change some ones’ opinion…BUT I must say that the Constitution grants US ALL the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness , and as long as my happiness does NT prohibit you from pursuing yours..then I should be ALLOWED….My first partner of more than 20 years was married for 23 years and my current HUSBAND was married to a woman for over 35 years. The BIBLE states that “Love knows no bounds”…so let people love and marry whomever they choose.

  40. Jay

Judge no man but judge righteously. Sin is sin there’s no way around it we all are sinners, but we need to stop sugar coding everything just so we feel better about what feels good to the flesh. Religion is false and made by man, God is real above all and he set commandments there are things that we must not and should not do to get into the kingdom, God loves all is a lie with in its self. How could he love everyone when everyone don’t love him..God HATES wickedness, if you read the bible and understand his word and accepted truth then you’ll shall be given answers. Two men can never have what a man and women have, God made one for the other and there are “gays” that are waking up to the truth and changing there ways.

    Interesting topic of thought:

Being raised and schooled a Catholic, I find it strange that ALL my dealings with “so called Christians”:

Why don’t those folks EVER “follow the teachings OF CHRIST”?

Good question, one to which I’ve never been able to understand.

I realize this is probably the most simple-stupid point of view, but here goes. I believe that men with small dicks (no,seriously) feel so inferior, that we’ve all been made to wear pants and keep our dicks hidden from society! I am amazed that men (and women) love to look at penises! As such, those men who are not attractive must figure out a way to control other men! Voila; RELIGION!
Yes, it’s simple, but THINK about it!

As a Christian – follower of Christ – I can understand the anguish felt by you in this argument. Based off my interpretation of the Bible, and therefore Christianity, I struggled to become “straight” to inherit the kingdom of God. I find no plausible way to do that transformation. Yet, I couldn’t throw my faith away because if I stood for nothing I could fall for anything. As much as I was being pushed by Christianity to be straight, the LGBT community pressured me to be gay. I feel that the tide of society has been to promote homosexuality more than support tolerance of homosexuality. So, recently I decided to remain neutral within my own struggle and qualm in this debate. I’m going to love whoever I want and who loves me for me, and not what’s between my legs.
However, Mr. Chip and perhaps others who misquote the Bible as he did,the laws of the old testament are only applicable to those Jewish converts to Christianity. Read in Romans, Acts, 1 Corinthians, and Galatians to confirm that finding. Secondly, to all here and all other LGBT, if you go into any Christian church that immediately shuns or outcast you THOSE PEOPLE ALONE are not loving as Christ loved. If you inturn do that to them, and vicariously every other Christian church, it doesn’t help the situation; furthermore it shows the humanity of both parties regardless of religious affiliation. I still understand not returning to such a place, but that place only; don’t allow anyone or anything stop or impede upon your chance for saving grace,if that is your faith. And stop using it as an excuse, because that excuse won’t fly when you’re standing at the pearly gates.

If a gay man stopped having gay sex right now, he wouldn’t get into Heaven. If a straight person stopped having sex outside of marriage right now, he or she wouldn’t get into Heaven. People for decades have made the critical error of believing that one’s behavior is the key, that you must be “good” to be loved by God & to get into Heaven.

We are ALL born of original sin, we are ALL born separated from God, we ALL NEED JESUS CHRIST to be re-established with God & have salvation. You can’t earn Heaven by being “good” and the reverse is also true, being “bad” won’t keep you out of Heaven. There is only one thing a person needs to do: accept Jesus Christ, believe in Him & love Him.

The Church has a lot to do to mend the broken hearts some broke by preaching we have a disease (but every human does; it’s called sin) but only telling some of them God sent a cure. I’m a Christian. I don’t believe in religion. Every religion is man trying to reach God except for Christianity. Christianity is proof God is trying to reach us because He loves us. This last thing is also the truth….if planet Earth was nothing but homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people, God still would have sent His Only Son to die for us, to take the wages of sin out on His own body so that we may all have salvation, redemption & restored relationship with God Who loves us. God Bless You Guys!;)
