Health : A Cure For HIV Soon?

h

Hi guys, I came across this little video on Facebook and I really wanted to share it with you.

Researchers from Temple University of Philadelphia found a way to successfully eliminates HIV Virus in human cells, converting contaminated cells to uninfected cells. Medication suppress the virus, but doesn’t delete it, what the team of Temple found is really a way to fully eradicate the virus and protect the cells from re-infection.

Now they need to move this discovery from the lab to animals and then people, but they are positive that they found a cure from HIV. Can you believe this? Maybe one day this little red ribbon would be something of the past…I hope they will be able to translate their discoveries to the people living with the virus. Let’s all cross our fingers!!!

Check out the video below!

It sounds like he is talking about CRISPR technology, which is hot, hot, hot in research right now. There are challenges: getting the therapeutic to go exactly where you want it to go and keeping the body from breaking it apart like we break apart food. “Soon” is probably a stretch, but this is research I’m definitely following.

There is hope!! But as the video stated everyone. .it may take years to leave the lab with that cure..keep playing safe!..you know what? Its a damn shame they have a hard time getting government funding for this research. .back when polio was an epidemic. .they spared no expense in funding for a cure..it should somehow be a federal taxing..maybe just a few dollars in support of this funding to rid us of this virus..just saying. .I know. .the feds tax us enough. .but this is a crisis at our feet NOW and gas been for almost 40 years..lets get rid of it..ONCE AND FOR ALL!!

I can only hope that this occurs in my lifetime. I’d love to see future generations free from the ravages of this “controllable” disease. We have made such strides in helping make HIV a manageable disease much like diabetes but the drugs do take a toll and while we have come soooo far, the stigma remains for those who are HIV+. Let us hope we see a day when this virus is eliminated.

There were 100 of the top aid’s scientist in the world on the plane that got shot down by Russian separatist, but that hardly got any attention from the news media. Makes me wonder what they might have known or could have done to get rid of the virus. Kinda suspect but I am glad for the process showing success.

“I’M IMMUNE YOU CAN GET NO COLDER!”

GREAT, NOW THE ILLUMINATI IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR GOVERNMENT WILL HAVE TO DEVELOP A NEW SUPER-VIRUS TO KILL US GAYS OFF… SCRATCH THAT… TO KILL US ALL OFF AT THIS POINT.

Hooray for this but I’m concerned about the future of the gay community. When HIV is cured, I predict that there will be a rise of other STDs because most will probably no longer practice safe sex. Believe me, I’m not trying to poo-poo this great news but I am a realist about life and culture.

This is good news of course but I wouldn’t mind a little cure for something we all have. I would be first in line for a “straight” pill. Life would do a complete 180 for the better. Oh well, Im sure I will be attacked relentlessly but thats how I feel.

  8. Matt

I would like to believe it will be cured along with so many other diseases. However, there is way too much money involved in drug companies keeping sick, infected people on their medications. Where would be if they released the cures for Cancers, MS and Alzheimer’s? We live in a world where there is profit in the sick and dying.

While I agree that a cure for AIDS would be wonderful, lets try and remember that currently AIDS does not even break the top fifteen causes of death in the United States. I agree with the poster who said a cure would be great because of the stigma, but lets keep some perspective. Last year over 500,000 people died of heart disease, also a lifestyle disease. The last year for which I have found statistics is 2010, where around 15,000 dies of AIDS. Interestingly, the highest rate of infection is among bi ans gay men between 18 and 35, an age group that should know, as we all should, NO GLOVE, NO LOVE. HIV is preventable. Use safe sex always, and get tested regularly. All that having been said, this is very exciting news

This is good news! How-ever our government will find a new way to kill we gay guys off anyway. So, fasten your seat belts it’s going to be a bumpy ride, anyway you look at it. I do not trust our government any more than I trust Putin in Russia, and his feelings of the gay folks. At least he is open and honest about his feelings for us, kind of like Hitlers distaste for certain groups of people. Again at least he made no secret of his hate for the groups of people he wanted to get rid of. I would never trust our government, do you remember TWA flight 400???? Think about it!

Good to see there is hope. Because HIV still is spreading in America, not just among gays, but Straights, Women and children. I pray it is not long before clinical trials begin.

  12. vulpixninetails

best news all year.. i bet those Russians who shot down that plane with the world’s leading HIV doctors on it are looking stupid right now.. that was a minor step back but the video show one hell of a step forward.. woot woot!!

  13. Adonis

Thank you all, seriously. . I tend to watch this video everyday for up lifting. . Thank you. . Thank you.. Thank you, it really means alot..

  14. Scott

its all BS!!!!!! long term survivor here. they have a cure but wanna let gay people die. thats how they got rid of alot us in the 80’s. i fought back and have won a victory over hiv/aids. a cure? i will believe it -when i see it.

The chances are that one of the big global pharmaceutical companies will buy this formula and/or process, and stick it in a vault so it will never see the light of day again. They all know it is more profitable to “manage” a condition forever than to cure it and eliminate the need for meds.

  16. teeleaves

There has always been a cure, just as fast as AIDS/HIV was created by man and other modern day deadly diseases… somehow they always pop up in poor African villages first and then suddenly these deadly diseases hit home…but yet, people don’t question this or the world’s governments. There are cures for a lot of illness and diseases, but they won’t see the light of day for the average Joe…Black Americans and Africans and probably others with dark skin pigment in other continents have been used as guinea pigs for many many years; being injected with diseases that will somehow affect us all. And I’m not making this stuff up.

  17. Aston

I was told 22 years ago by a. Lilly chemist this would be cured by gene manipulation! 22 years ago!! Do not tell me it isn’t still here cause illness makes money…. When science wants something done it can get there . To bad suppression of this virus WAS enough

  18. John

Growing up in the 80’s with learning about AIDS in grade school was something I would never soon forget. By the mid-90’s I was set in the belief that so many people in the US Government were to blame for doing almost nothing before 1985. Now with the prospect of this new medical research would be a further step to discredit the anti-gay establishment forcing them to realize that what they perceived as a punishment from God was in reality was a major medical crisis.

I thought of committing suicide or become a living biological weapon by way of HIV infection because of staunch absolute beliefs I had to deal in a private religious school.

  19. Mike

In loving memory of those who have lost the battle to this disease And to save any one still battling or stop new infections would be a miracle . Bless the meany who have tried and gods speed for a cure that could save a new generation from this disease . And we should all remember and be thankful I’m sure it would be the best news in my life time!!

  20. Jeff

Yes it is great news, now let’s talk about the long term side effects of this wonder drug…. which will take another couple of years to study, that is if they study it. Like so many meds that was once through as a wonder cure or now being pull off the shelf for the many side effects that that have caused. I have just one question; the cure for Ebola, it was giving to two American doctors and they were cured, why the same meds that was given to them has not been given to the massive of people in Africa who are dying from it? Yes it all sound good… but can we really trust the people who are out to make a buck to keep our best interest at heart without seeing dollar signs? I’m just saying. Never be so eager to jump on the band wagon unless you know where it will make it last stop.

  21. Al

NOPE …. its just way to profitable for the pharmaceutical companies to make HIV drugs ….when a handful of my friends told me that a month of medications cost them, the insurance co. and state tax payers anywhere between $900 to $1,300 per month multiply that by a million people.

  22. tim

sorry to poop on you guys but AIDS BEEN OVER!!! people are curing themselves but you wont hear it in the media!!! AIDS is a JOKE!!! AIDS is the easiest thing to CURE!!! look like a lot of people didn’t get the MEMO!!!!

  23. Frankie_wills

I hope they’ll be a cure for AIDS soon! This is for my friends and for the coolest guys I met who aren’t let AIDS stop them from abundantly living their lives. My fingers are cross for a cure…soon!

  24. 1versfucker

We have been steered down a road where pharmaceutical science corners the market on disease care…at the expense of the patient’s liver and the body wearing out from the drugs in the end. Remember AZT and everyone dying from it, not the HIV? At least now the drugs are apparently in less toxic doses. But I know of a few guys who used alternative regimes to actually ‘wipe out’ HIV, Glutathione injections for one. There are worse challenges, like syphilis and all the versions of hepatitis, and other evolving sti’s. Supressed HIV is extremely hard to contract (hep B a hundred times easier, for example). With our sources of quality food and nutrients disappearing I fear we are going to become vulnerable to many things. The future will be interesting.

Just a few thoughts on some of the comments.

First with the number of people with aids out there if any vompany came up with a cure and only charged $20 net profit per treatment, they’d make $600,000,000. I don’t know a company that wouldn’t screw over their entire industry for an immediate payment of that size. AIDS is still not around because the pharmacutical/medical industry wants to make money.

Second, for you conspiracy individuals: If they can make a disease to kill us off so easily, why not get the payment for curing this one and release a better more deadly virus? AIDS has been around for a while and homosexuals are still here…so it has not been a very effective tactic. Plus there are so many important issues, do people honestly have the time to worry about whether I suck dick.

Third, the CRISPR cas-9 system is a great tool. BUT, these were single cells in tissue culture in a petri dish. To be an effective treatment in humans they need a delivery system that will introduce it to enogh of the right cells in the body to count. That is super hard. Too make it preventative the guide RNA and the cas-9 endonuclease need to be incorporated into the genome with an approprite promoter and regulatory element to be made by human cells. This is hard. Lastly foreign DNA has a tendency to be rearranged in the genome and to have unanticipated plieotropic effects. This means you need to be careful that the ‘cure’ doesn’t wind up being more provlematic than the disease you are trying to cure. I firmly believe an AIDS cure will come. It will, however, be a while coming using this technology.

I believe that they had the cure all the time. This may be a sign that a bad war or major natural disaster is brewing. I have always wondered what would happen if power was cut or if major war broke and hundreds of able bodies men and women were unable to be drafted because of HIV. Or if a natural disaster how many people would just die. HIV is a security threat to the United States. I believe that they let it run long enough for their friends in medical to make money, now with ISIS and Russia acting funny, they now realize that HIV has to go.

  27. darryl

As far as discoveries of our time, this is great news. Now all we have to do is combine that with real common sense procedures in order for people to have access to it, when it’s ready to administer. A cure doesn’t mean bad behavior can be the norm. Have great sex, but still protect yourself.

  28. mecocklover

I don’t want to be a buzzkill, but I’ve heard a lot of “works in a test tube” regarding treatments, vaccines, supposed cures over the decades. No way am I getting my hopes up, especially for something that is a decade away if things go smoothly and quickly.

  29. Jason

The pharmaceutical companies will not allow this. There is no profit in a cure. They are making billions of dollars on HIV meds, and they will not be happy when this is eradicated.

  30. danie

perhaps with something like that research will lean to cancer cells the same way just maybe hiv could be a blessing for so many more lives just a thought

  31. Jeff

This looks good. But the problem isn’t really dealing with cells anymore, it’s hunting down and killing off those pesky reservoirs where HIV hides that conventional MEDS aren’t touching. You can be “undetectable”, but that doesn’t mean you’re HIV free. All that means is you have so little that can be accurately measured. You’re still HIV positive sadly

  32. MistrFistr

Temple’s a fine school, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I just “cured” my HCV infection brought to me by a dirty “neg” bottom years ago, using the new Sovaldi treatment regimen. You guys know the side effects of Truvada, et al, and this was no diferent than that. During the course of treatment, I got to know my immunologist very well, and she pretty sure this isn’t going to be in FDA Stage I trials anytime soon. Every other HIV “vaccine” has failed so far…this is one SMART virus, whereas the HCV retrovirus is relatively “dumb.” I read a lot of comments hoping for a cure quickly, but I know that sex will be out of my life by the time we ever start hearing about “the cure” being available. Meantime, I’ll stay “shut down” and watch from the sidelines. After all, while 150 of my friends and lovers died, I stayed neg and stayed alive. I’ve become to accept it as my fate. Behavior can stop HIV NOW…sometime the “gay community” just doesn’t seem to “get”.

electro blood modification, All pharmaceutical company along with members of the medical field knows it takes only 1 micron of electricity to kill all known viruses and all known bacteria, There is no money to be made with healthy people!!!! No cures in the past 40 plus years , Really with all this technology??????? just think most hospitals, clinics and quick care centers would close there doors , not to mention the financial mess the usa would be in, Maybe we are headed to those times soon, Get an ultra violet wand from ebay pref the old times type, pre 1960 and zap your wrists at the radial pulse two three min a day, and watch hiv, and anything else disappear in a matter of months, It Has worked for me, dont believe it, do some out of the box thinking !!!!! go online and research it. start by googling the name Dr Robert Beck protocol …………

how come they have been so successful treating and curing the ebola disease and a total failure to cure hiv? one must wonder why.
